Episode 3: Cycling around the world for a children's hospital, West Germany

Hahaha I was so fast on my ultralight setup that they couldn't find me 😂 it's such a beautiful country and I really enjoyed riding through it. The people are so friendly and the country is so scenic!

Good work.. with the knees, just try adjusting your saddle higher, start with half a centre meter and work up. I had the bike fitting place in Folkestone a few years ago. It will stop your knees from flexing left and right and will keep them inline. It will take a few rides to hone the exact position 😊

Thank you so much for your advice! I did exactly this and failed to mention it! It's amazing how such a small movement can wreak havoc on your knees. All because I took my saddle off to see if it was a good idea to store my spare spokes inside the tube haha

Another good video thanks. For your knee problem try making sure that your saddle fore / aft position is correct for you, too far forward and it will strain your knees. A rough guide is to ensure that when your crank is in the 9 o'clock position, if you drop a line from the forward edge of your knee it intersects with or is just very slightly behind the pedal axle. With saddle height you will know when it is too high as you will have pain at the back of the knees.

Thank you so much for your advice! As this was exactly what remedied the issue in the end. I didn't mention this so thank you as this will hopefully help anyone who experiences this issue and reads your comment. The funny thing was my knee started to twinge again after changing my shoes, it's amazing how sensitive your legs are to the slightest of changes!

@@Geocycling1993 If you experience pain after changing shoes it may well be due to the insoles in the different shoes and the level of arch support that they provide. If you have slightly collapsing arches on either leg then you need more arch support, otherwise you will have lateral movement in the knee on the downward stroke which will cause knee pain. You can always diy this using EVA / solid foam tape (or just cut out pieces from an extra insole) and stick to your existing insole. alternatively you can buy this sort of thing in chemists etc.. with trial and error find what works for you.

Hey jacob, use an app for your drone where youre allowed to fly. I am pretty sure its forbidden above water (because its a motorway for ships in germany! Controlled by goverment), streets, houses, traintracks etc. so dont get caught. The weight of the drone doesnt matter. She was absolutely right. best regards

Thank you so much for this comment as I don't want people to be caught out and get fined. The article I read previously was rather vague and upon a bit more digging it appears you are correct. You should not fly the drone over the river but near it is ok "which I obviously didn't do". So I will hold my hands up and say she was right about the river, but it also says you can fly over if you take the shortest route available? In my defence she did say it was forbidden in the whole area before the camera was rolling, maybe lost a bit in translation? Thank you for your advice with the app as it makes it much simpler to know when I next visit Germany :D also for anyone who is planning to fly in Germany, you need liability insurance and for the drone to be registered, and also a license if it was bought after a certain date! It's all rather confusing haha 😂

It's a mount for my GoPro! I can easily pop it off when I want to get a shot and I can also use the camera while it's mounted 🙂 much more comfortable and practical than a chest mount 🙂
