I love this house. I live a few blocks from it. I have to admit I would ride my bike by it during the construction and watch the progress. Now I am planing my own FL build and plan to use yours as inspiration. Nice job brother.

You should have gone with pre-engineer metal framing and left room on your slab for concrete block exterior. It's cheaper, stronger, and less problems.

It wasn't cheaper at the time. I wanted to do metal trusses and they were about 50k

@@BuiltByMike The entire building installed with siding and roof should have been around 50K for pre-engineered metal. that's not including insulation or exterior windows or doors or interior finishings. I assume it's under 4000 Square feet. Pre-engineered metal is by far the better choice. It eliminates all of the engineering hassles and helps keep you on budget. Not to mention it's a better structure.

You could clad that beam with zipboard to protect from elements. Overhang is still a good idea though. House looks great!

Hey man, thanks for making these vids! Do you remember the vertical spacing(rebar) for the exterior walls?

I believe it was every 4 feet. I think that's engineered depending on the house. This house had alot more rebar then most I've seen.

If u know, how the furring strips were attached to the block wall ? Shot in ? Hammered by hand ! Drilled holes then hammered in !

Start drawing what you want. Tape them to a wall you pass by everyday

The center wall is load bearing and is poured solid.
