Great set. My last card is out for delivery today, and my 57 set will be complete. I'll share the video with you here in the coming days. Great channel, Rick!

Nice collection. I use to frequent South Bay Sports Cards and all the sports cards shops in the 90's. Still stop by there once in awhile. Been getting the vintage cards 70's - 80's stuff I have from back then graded. There were so many card shops and shows going on back then. Miss the good o'days of card hunting.

Love South Bay Sports Cards. Have you been to the Burbank Card Store? Good stuff! Yeah, not many good stores anymore. I think I do 3-4 in LA and OC. The valley has a few stories but I don't go up that way much. Thanks for watching!

Hey Rick, I enjoyed the walk through your 57 Topps set. Such an important set in the hobby for reasons you mentioned such as the standard card size, last cards of the Brooklyn Dodgers and New York Giants, color photography and an deep rookie crop. I enjoyed listening to you casually talked about the players and how you acquired some of the cards. I love the 57 Mantle. You actually see him swinging the bat with a nearly full body image, which you don’t see a lot of with his cards. I know his 58 Topps AS and 64 Topps Stand Up depict him that way. I am not surprised Campanella would have went to LA but I never heard him say that. I would like to add a Bobby Richardson at some point. He is a great man. Congrats on putting together such a beautiful set.

Terry, I was surprised how difficult and how expensive the Richardson and Kubek cards were. I have to assume being a Yankee team collector is worse than a Dodger team collector. You took the week off. Excited to see what you'll do next time. Thanks for watching!

@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector The Dodgers are tough but the Yankees would cost a fortune 😆. I did a video on Memorial Day last week instead of Friday due to my schedule.

@@tjmacvintagecardsnostalgia648 that's right, I forgot about the extra video last week. Everyone is busy with graduations and summer plans! Every time I buy a 1930s dodger card, I always think about Yankees fans trying buy Ruth, Gehrig, Dickey, Lazzari, etc... just too much at that point!

Awesome set Rick. I bought that set in a collection in 1998. Sold it to help pay for the rest of the collection. Mr Mint Alan Rosen was trying to buy it, but I found a higher offer at that show. It's been in a great home ever since, a friend of mine bought it.

Great video. Great set. It just dawned on me. They never produced a Harmon Killebrew.

Kurt, it didn't dawn on me until I started working on the set. Harmon didn't play much those first two years. Still wish he had a card. Maris too. He played 116 games in 1957. Thanks for watching!

What's up Rick! I've been looking at players that played in the 50s early 60s era. I seem to be looking at the 1957 set quite often. It sure looks good in a binder all sorted together. A lot of stars in this one and some of them don't seem too expensive aside from the big big stars and rookies. Thanks for sharing!

Sammy, same thing happened to me with 1957. I kept finding hall of famers for nice prices and before I knew it, I had 15 HOF PSA graded cards. Naturally that made me want to build a set.Wasn't too bad coast wise, but that damn Brooks Robinson RC keeps going up in price. Thanks for watching!

Great cards. Such a difficult set due to miscuts and registration. Definite '53 Bowman influence, which is surprising considering Topps had no competition at that point. Thanks for the great info, Rick.

I had missed this video previously. You're very accurate in your analysis of the set. I think Topps rushed out the high series (which was not originally planned) to avoid sluggish sales and lots of returns as the season waned. This may be why the fourth series is the toughest. I'm also convinced they used a 110-card sheet for the high series, as there are no known short prints.

I have watched a few of your videos and you do a great job of organizing. Do you have a brand of sleeves you recommend?
@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector Жыл бұрын
My sheets are all from ultra pro. For the 1953 set, I first put each card in a penny sleeve and then put that into the sheets. Prevents the larger cards from moving around. Also, wasn't sure if you were referring my binder sleeves. If you are, those are from bindertek.com.

@@RickAcostaDodgerCardCollector Yes...I was curious about your binder sleeves. Thanks.
