@@100StarWars I personally just look at it as a “setup” episode that’s the most optimistic I can look at it atm. While the show isn’t great it isn’t horrible either. But ultimately I can’t make my final decision until episode 8 is out, and to see if the conclusion me and others have been speculating about happens. Not for nothing Sol and Qi’Mir are the best things to happen to this show. The green woman is insufferable and probably is gonna end up killing Sol based off impulsiveness and bad judgment.

Okay I just finished Episode 7, HOW CAN PEOPLE HATE THIS SHOW It’s showing the seeds of the Jedi fall in the movies and how assumptions can ruin everything. That overarching theme might be why we have the Twins plot with Osha and Mae, because there’s something to say with this series

You know I get the feeling that they storyboarded up way more story and at some point someone came to the story team after the good idea fairy hit them up. That person who was visited by the good idea fairy then told them that they would have fit it into 30 minute episodes.

@@100StarWars It makes some sort of sense, because like you say there is so much potential here in this show, but its let down by these criminally short episodes. In my admittedly limited experience, you don't get this much potential unless the creatives actually care about what they are making. It smells of some corpo saying, 'people can't watch for more than 30 minutes so It has to fit into 30 minutes or it won't be watched.'

Same happened with Witcher:Bad Origins, reduced a bad series into a 4 episode event after bad test audience.

I’m only up to Episode 6 at the moment, but so far I’ve been enjoying this series. It’s so interesting seeing the Jedi 100 years out of prequel movies, BECAUSE you can see hints of where the sins of the Jedi order in the movies begin. The dogmatic apprehension to kill by the Jedi is already doing damage to them. 2 people died and yet the Jedi could not hurt this Sith. Even just the little scene at 4:08 where the Jedi are still on Khofar and the Sith is back home on his planet. It just shows how meandering they are becoming. Now, I will admit, I’m finding it tricky to connect with Osha. Mae has been very easy to connect with, but the main character is a tricky book to read. I think that’s how she’s supposed to be, since it seemed like she was playing a Jedi in front of Qimir but has enough doubts to wear the helmet. All in all, the recent news about the show being cancelled seems like a mistake to me.

The episode runtimes are really my only issue with the show so far. Well that and how the pov flashback episode was wedged in there. Binging through the episodes isn’t that bad, and easier to follow. But 30 minutes a week for a long format story is really frustrating. Basically, we get half an episode one week, and just when it feels like we should be going into the 3rd act, like most shows, where everything goes down, it’s over. And then we have to wait another whole week for the next episode to drop to finish what every non-Star Wars show would call a full episode of tv. This feels almost like Ahsoka. But with that show, they had maybe 90 minutes of content and chose to stretch it out by having every conversation have noted pauses in them, with people standing or siting around as if thinking what to say next while playing it safe, as well as tossed in a pointless, inconsequential and often nonsensical action scenes, and everyone came across as flat, and that was on top of these 30 - 35 minute episode runtimes. By the end of it, I felt empty on top of feeling like a wasted my time. But at least it wasn’t Kenodi.

I liked the contrast between Sol restraining Mae and Qimir doing the opposite with Osha. Also, I think the implication is Sol knew it was Mae the entire time but he was playing dumb.

I feel like after Disney+ started to REALLY push Star Wars into a TV format, but mostly after The Acolyte inparticular, we're seeing a 3rd major type of Star Wars fan. One that defends anything in their niche of Star Wars, like it's continuity, it's show, it's writers, etc, regardless of objective qualities.

I do think this show could be so much better than it is, but the actors playing Sol and Darth Smiley McGhee are doing well in my opinion. They teased the lightsaber whip so much just for it to be used as bug zapper is pretty disappointing

They're making movies and cutting them up randomly to make episodes. This show would work much better if it were a 2 1/2 hour movie. Also they need to keep one damn director and writer doing every episode in a series. Otherwise there is no stylistic or tonal consistency. And for the love of god stop with the board room mandated reshoots. Get the thing mapped out and the script refined before you ever start shooting. If the board wants something changed do so then. Reshoots are to polish and help tidy up the film, not remake it into a Frankenstein monster.

Watching both House of the Dragon & The Acolyte week to week has unfortunately shed a light on just how little we get from the characters in Star Wars shows on Disney+. It's unfortunate & Episode 6 of The Acolyte really suffered from this. I would've loved to spend the entire episode with Osha & Qimir seeing them build a relationship, slowly gain each other's trust, & just see where both their heads are... which would make the ending where she puts on the helmet so much more tragic.

Not gonna lie, the ending Vader parallel genuinely made me angry. The character Osha doesn’t deserve it at all. I can get behind her questioning the Jedi way, but to go that far…

very slow episode So Qimir was a Jedi(could be lying to create empathy with Osha) he must have done something to slow his aging i know the force does naturally grant extended lifespan but to keep your appearance youthful (dude looks around 30yrs your a padawan roughly in our teens Qimir said a long long time ago he was a Jedi) he must have learnt something Does Qimir want an apprentice or a wife? 🤷 I felt Sol took a bit too long to realise Mae had switched. Venestra definitely knows more than she's said

The fact is you can't clash about the ways of the Force, in a movie/TV show as well as in a book or video game. For what it's trying to do, that show is doomed to fail. You can't be as much in character thoughs as a book. You can make people think about choice and their implications as a compelling as a video game because in the video game, it is choices they made. Here, it just breaks the small amount of momentum the show as over and over again.

Here is my theory for how this ends. Qimir turns Osha to the dark side and he helps her kill Mae and Sol when they arrive. Qimir then disappears telling Osha to continue her training. Vernestra shows up and finds Sol and Mae dead and Osha wearing the Sith armor. Vernestra kills Osha and concludes that she was the fallen Jedi who trained Mae in secret. The two sisters wanted revenge for the massacre on Brendok which the Jedi somehow caused. Case closed to the Jedi and Qimir sneaks away. Many years later he takes another apprentice named Plagueis...

I wish this show was from Qimir's perspective, and maybe also Sol's since they are both by far the most interesting characters in the show and the coolest. All the other stuff with the twins and whatnot is pretty boring, meandering, inconsistent and just seems poorly thought out. Also I don't understand where this shows millions of dollars of budget has gone into; nothing seen so far seems to warrant anywhere near that much spending money.

I am not against sex and sexuality in Star Wars at all, but it feels weird when Disney is the one doing it. Disney is all for censoring strong female sexuality like Slave Leia bikini, but they will show this it just feels fake. They style themselves a prestige television program, such as House of the Dragon, but lack the quality and adult themes. 30 minute episodes are for Spongebob, not your "prestige television" series.

Even I think binging X-Men: The Animated Series and Spider-Man: The Animated Series somehow feels less frustrating than this show. Well, the sooner the show ends its run, the sooner the algorithm finally stops spamming the show on my account, and for you, 100% Star Wars, to deliver original and non-frustrating content you and the audience shall enjoy making and seeing, even if they're shorts.

I don't get it. You can tell good stories, even great stories, in 8 episodes that are 20 minutes. (Umbara Arc.) TCW finale was 4 episodes, that while they did use ROTS and TCW as a whole as set up, still told a great mostly self contained story of movie events from other characters POV. You have to know your constraints when telling a story and adapt to it. Don't know how they keep failing at this.

What’s hilarious is that, just like the Last Jedi throne room battle, if you really slow down the fight in acolyte ep 6, you see so many ridiculous moves and you keep asking: “what happened” or “where did he go” lol 😂. I’m not saying the entire fight was terrible, but you really see some poor choreography in this.

@@100StarWars Well when it comes to the Prequels, what I’ve noticed is that the choreography is really well done, but they just add color with the spinning(still each strike is pretty great). With the Originals, obviously you have less fancy work, but the fighting felt a bit more direct. Everything with Disney feels like it “looks” fancy but the actual choreography is off. The best example I can give is comparing the Phantom Menace final battle(especially Obi-Wan the section) to the Last Jedi throne room scene. You can tell which choreography has more quality.

But you can go through every Prequel fight step by step and quite literally point to a silly decision in every scene where a character has a killing blow and instead jumps, flips, spins or flourishes their saber. Maul and Obi-Wan have like... 10 openings each to kill each other in that fight and don't do it. Like I said, if you choose to analyse in such a concentrated way you're going to find that they're all pretty silly - they just look fun asf to watch. I'm not defending the Throne Room scene because there is some really glaring problems, but... The Acolyte's fight scene falls much more closely in line with the prequels than anything else since Disney took over.

Sup mate. I didn't discuss this series wth you before since I saw you enjoy it and I valued your enjoyment above fair criticism. It's very badly written from episode 1. We can let it slide in ep 1 since it wasn't like horrible and some of the choreography was decent but by this point you should be realizing how much bad there is. Acting is horrible. There are 2-3 people giving their best and 2 of them are male (the squid game guy and sith guy), the padawan girl was also ok. Yor or whatever his name was, was servicable. But the lead actress can't act herself out of a paper bag, same for showrunner's wife who is plain terrible, the only way she could be worse is if we saw a piece of paper with her lines in the shots. But even good actors cant work miracles, and the dialogue requires miracles. Not only it logically doesnt fit itself but people just dont talk like human beings, spouting exposition to one another almost as a welcome. Choreography in ep 5 is same tier or a bit hiigher than the one from Last Jedi. Worst part is people teleporting (squid guy and padawan) away only to randomly appear back when the plot needs them. The padawan girl died only because her master was standing some space back doing nothing. Generally jedi in the era where they were "at the peak of their power" are acting like weak morons. Cortosis being randomly introduced to movie canon with zero setup or explanation what the material is was done terribly, now every SW fan who didnt read books or wiki can ask "well why wasnt it used by vader or palpatine?" Should I even mention that the antagonist girl goes from killing the jedi to letting them imprison them to killing the jedi again in like 5 minutes for no given reasons whatsoever. Every episode introduces something more stupid than before, in this episode we have a beaver and half a droid winning a fight with a jedi master killer. Also look back at the 6 episodes and tell me the plot of this series. A murder mystery with no mystery. The only thing unclear is what happened to space witches. But if they were killed by the jedi for being evil- I support it. These women threathened peacefully approaching jedi and mind f*cked one of their padawans for no reason whatsoever. Clearly evil. Anyway the show is a massive waste of time and so far it's kenobi levels of bad. Kenobi at least had actors and dialogue being ok, Acolyte's advantages over Knob is only not damaging the OT like Knob did.

Welll I've enjoyed 3 of 6 episodes - so I wouldn't say I've enjoyed it, I'm certainly struggling with aspects. I still don't agree with your point about the cortosis or the fight scene, but you bring up some good points in other areas, especially in regard to Mae, Vernestra (who sucks) and how the Witches were in the wrong lol

@@100StarWars you can have cortosis in your show. But it would be better with a setup. give the girl a cortosis shard knife that disrupts lightsaber in episode 1 allowing her to kill the jedi. during investigation pay attention to that detail, make jedi study a sample and learn "holy shit it's cortosis, a rare material mostly under severe jedi control/observation, it's found on 2 planets and only few known smiths know how to even make a weapon out of it, who would have such rare and ancient knowledge? (obviously sith or someone sith adjacent). Its not the best setup but hopefully you get the idea. If something breaks all lightsaber fights we've ever seen its better to be properly set up in the plot. So far they didnt do it and likely wont. They also apparently made it block mind trick/reading from what we learned in the previous episode so either they mess up with cortosis or try to hint some sith alchemy.
