I’m pretty sure I know which crafter has the high sock count as I follow her myself. After watching for almost a year, while she does knit fast, I think her main output factor is she knits almost constantly. She knits on the treadmill, watching TV, listening to audiobooks, sitting in waiting rooms of all kinds, in a movie theatre, when riding (not driving) in a car, in restaurants, and even frequently when socializing. A lot of this she can do because she mostly knits the exact same pattern socks and doesn’t even have to look at what she is doing. I so am not competing. I figure I’m doing well to knit and still follow a TV show plot at the same time. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to you too!!! Actually no, That's NOT who i'm taking about!! There are a lot of other sock knitters out there. And as I said, bravo to them and no judgments. That's just not what I want/or how I want to celebrate and share!!

Happy New Year from the north of Sweden. I have fallen into the rabbit hole of making gnomes. It started last december with the Snow matten what gnomes. Then along came Gnatty, Gnock and finally this years december with Gnanas visit. Just love Sarahs gnomes. Both her Grimblewood book and other patterns are by my side. There will be more gnomes! This year I just made one pair of socks and that also feels great as this was the year of blankets and sweaters. Knitting should be calming and give you relaxation, laughter and proud of beeing able to use your hands to make what you feel like in both big or small crafts. Love following your vlogs 😍

Your comments about not needing to account for all you've read or knit- reminds me of what my childhood (through college years) was: no such thing as computers for the general public so no lists to compare to anyone other than a handful of friends or your teacher. A return to that simplicity, where I'm just happy with what I accomplish being enough, is my goal for the new year. It suits who I was and still am (with no affront to those who see the world differently).

Happy new year, Denise. I jumped on the gnome wagon this Christmas too. I joined the advent knit along and made Gnana Gnome (as a Gnana myself, I just had to make one). I fell totally in love and ordered The Gnomes of Grimblewood, which I got to open this morning on returning home after Christmas in Alberta. I can’t wait to gnome along during 2025.

Hi Ms. Denise! Ur channel just popped up in my feed this morning & Im so glad I clicked on it! I just subbed to ur channel, not that u'll really notice - u have 44.5K subs already! I have checked out ur sock patterns before & then forgot about them til today. I want to try ur Shadow Wrap Heel & see how it's different from the heel gusset & flap technique & check out the fit! I have knit a lot of Gnomes over the years!! They are so fun & I havent meet anyone that doesnt think they are adorable!! I like a higher contrast in my Gnome colors, so the "Caramel Drizzle" (the skein w/white, light brown in it) to contrast better w/the yellow (gold-ish) mini skein is what I would pick for ur Gnome. However, I shud probably try to use more muted (less contrast) colors & get outa my comfort zone! I hope 2025 is a wonderful year for u! Happy New Year & Happy Knitting!

Denise, your words are always so full of wisdom. I used to keep a notebook of my projects, counting them up and comparing to the previous years. Last year life got really busy - no time to maintain the notebook and my knitting production decreased significantly. I guess I could count my projects on Ravelry, but I know that I’ll be discouraged, so why set myself up for that. As you said, this is not a competition, it’s a hobby. I don’t think I’m going to set knitting goals for 2025 (other than using stash). There are enough metrics in life (anyone who works in a professional role will understand)! Question - For your shadow wrap heel pattern, have you considered adding a gusset variation (to increase the heel depth) or do you have any suggestions for another pattern for a short row heel that has a gusset?

I am knitting Gnicole as I watch. I bought the Gnomes of Grimblewood for Christmas after making the Choose Your Gnome Adventure pattern (4 times 😍). They are WONDERFUL stash/scrap busters and mini skein projects. If you have tried stuffies or amigarumi in the past and did not enjoy it 🙋♀️, give Sarah Schira's gnomes a go.

Happy new year friend!!! What a special and beautiful gift from your sister! We had a wonderful Christmas with family - celebrated a week with 12 of us this year and yes it was a little chaotic but also filled with so much laughter and delicious food and I'm so so grateful. 100% with you - no need to add stress to our lives when there are bigger things to stress over. I'm okay with projects going to the next year, it's just a page turn of the calendar. I'm okay with not quantifying my "success/productivity" and really don't enjoy recapping so I don't do it! We're in charge of our own making and we can do what works best for us! YAY GNOMES!!!!!! So so cute. I got The Gnomes of Grimblewood for Christmas and plan to try out some new techniques on this smaller scale that leads to such a cute result (and don't have to "worry" about fit either!). Sending so much love to you and yours!!!~Stephanie P.S. - I just finished The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods (pub 2023, 432 pages) last night and enjoyed it! Historical fiction, magical realism, stand-alone book, romance (but not spicey), book about books, lost work from a Brontë sister, based in present-day and 1920's/40's, Ireland/France/England.

I really like to see what ladies have knitted in the year. It does inspire me to be focused on knitting in 2025. If I can knit one sweater, six pairs of socks, a few scarves and some cross stitch it will be a great accomplishment. We'll see next year at this time. The Christmas holiday/time has never been hectic for us. Even when I was a little girl the focus has always been on The Birth of Christ and the center of our celebrations. With that in mind, even at 68 yrs. old, we are still not hectic and it is always wonderful. In lack or in much we celebrate. It seems to always turn out really good. And, looking forward to next Christmas with, hopefully, knitted stockings to hand at the mantle. We'll see; hahaha.

Happy to you and I love the way you reviewed your 2024. I too choose to look at what I did, experienced, etc vs a comparison style review. I measure me against me, and for 2025 my knitting planner is setup to reflect that. Last year I finished 6 long term WIPs and in 2025 I will aim to complete that many or more, plus I have some new cast-ons planned with the caveat that I can shift my goals, project plans, etc. I knit the cozy knitter 24-stripe advent socks for the first time this year with some knitting buddies and it was a lot of fun. Thanks for sharing your life in 2024. I don't think I've ever even bought 89 pairs of socks in 1 year. Lol. It takes me 2 weeks for a knitted pair of socks ... and I'm good with it. One pair did take me 3 weeks ... didn't realize until I was trying the heel turn that I cast on the wrong number of stitches on both - 66 + 70! Now I know why they were different colour patterning. They look good now.😂 For 2025, I'm joining a month by month make along with Happy Crafty Homemaker. I seem to get more done when I've got a to-do list. No comparisons, just trying to downsize my stash and using up leftovers. Very cute gnomes. Your collection will be sweet. Have yet to get to your recommended books. 1 in house and 3 on hold at my library. Farewell 2024 and hello 2025!🎉

HAPPY HOLIDAYS! You could be talking about THE CRAZY SOCK LADY. This is her specialty. Note the name. No need to compete. I certainly don't. And I'm not nearly the knitter many others are and am not planning to be althought I was thinking of becoming a Master Knitter but it's a thought. I'm not sure about pushing for that. But I wouldn't mind becoming a Master Crocheter because that is what I learned from my Mother first. But again, not sure about that at this time. I've got other tasks I want to complete that are not craft related. So just be in the place you want or need to be at all times. Life is that much more pleasant when it goes the way you plan and execute it to be day by day WITH GOD'S HELP. Take care and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

@ that… I am just awed by this realization. Thank you. Why do we do that to ourselves? 🤷🏼♀️

I love the gnome ❤. It’s a must make. I read the “Invisible Life…@ book. It started slow for me but ohhh, it was great. The Book of Doors is on hold and I’ve started the Ellery Adam’s books. I really like simple mysteries and will read her series. Thank you for the recommendations! Have a wonderful New Year ahead. 😘

Your sister knows you well. Love your shawl. Smiling at your recap of 2024. I knitted, I resurrected my ancient crochet skills. I got COVID again and had to miss a visit from someone very important to me. My daughter got married in a lovely ceremony, I traveled to Thailand and fell in love with the country. So, 2024 was action packed. Busy knitting my way into 2025. May 2025 be rich and full of wonder for you and your family. Books, books, books! I love audio books, and love to listen to them while I knit. I have many favorites, but discovered one this year that I really enjoyed. It's called 'The Hideaway' by Nora Roberts. Part of what I loved about it is that it is Nora's tribute to audio book narrators.. I have some of Kate Quinn's books in my queue. I am currently listening to Winds of War and War & Remembrance. Both of them are by Hermann Wouk, and are many, many hours of good listening..

Maybe add some mohair or a short eyelash yarn to the beard to make it stand out a bit. I had no idea those gnomes existed, I'm going to have to buy a few patterns! Thank you for introducing us to them!

At my fastest, I can knit a pair of vanilla socks in 2 weeks. You never have have to say, you don't want to brag or whatever. You always have best intentions and your way of presenting is anything, but... Happy New Year.
