35+ knots of wind on a jury rigged storm jib with 5.5 metre waves breaking into the cockpit - "unpleasant" could be the understatement of the year. This is turning into the stuff of legends. Crossing everything for you Pip.

That smell is bushfires in The Grampians in western Victoria. They are still out of control and have burned a substantial area of bush. That eucalyptus, woody smell is real! Big south westerly kicked in last night, so back to cold winds this morning.

Pip, you are the uncrowned queen of this Vendée. Your passion for sailing, your perseverance, your humour and your ability to take us through all the ups and downs of this journey are great. Thank you for that. You know the words of the "Irish Blessing": may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face". Good luck for the last miles.

As stated by others, this part of your 'sail/race', is far more relatable than the race itself, which is of endurance and keeping the boat at maximum performance, within the limits of the yacht itself. Having the challenge of problem solving to this degree and overcome the issue of losing the mast, is fabulous. The boat, being as good as it is, and not being (now) in danger of sinking through the mast holing it; the batteries and solar functioning as well as they are and allowing good comms, is such a testament to good engineering, and being able to "OK, we'll prioritise 'this' 1st, then 'this'..... There's not an algorithm to follow. Many 'yotties' can follow this, and feel personal empathy, as they'll have had similar but less terminal problem solving in less extreme locations!

Another great episode on Pip TV. You most likely are smelling Eucalypts and it must be such a thrill be smelling land despite your lack of progress overnight. Your channel is one of only two that I'm following, because it's the most interesting and thankfully it's in English. One of the great things about your videos is how you're showing us life onboard and what you need to do on a daily basis to sail the boat. I'm always amazed at how you plan ahead for things, thinking of all sorts of things you need to do to keep you and your gear safe (like removing blocks on the traveller). While I only do coastal racing (500nm is the longest), as a sailor, I've learnt so many things from you. Thank you so much. It's also great to see you with your Christmas present on, and I'm loving the colour of it. As others mentioned, your sponsors should be honoured to pick you up for 2028, if for no other reason that the exposure they are getting through Pip TV. Good luck for the strong winds ahead and I look froward to your next episode. As we often say here in NZ - Kia Kaha (stay strong).

I love this series Pip. 1.5 years ago I didn't know what an Imoca was, then KZbin decided i should watch Boris and Team Malizia race in the Ocean Race and I got interested in offshore sailing. I started watching this VG cheering for an ever increasing number of sailors in the race, I admire you all for doing this test of endurance. When you dismasted however, the first thing every day I check is your posiiton on the tracker and hope that you'll upload a small video. Only then it feels right to watch the race again. Be safe we are all cheering youb on

Beautiful amazing sunset Pip you are so fortunate to be out there 🌺😀🙏 I know what you mean when you mentioned the smell of land after being so far out to sea for long periods… Pip I have started documenting your preparation plans for loosing a mast down in the southern ocean and what is possible when a yacht is disabled so far from emergency services and also the Navy Australia owes you one hell of a party…… hey you know there are more people following you then the Sydney to Hobart race 😂 your sailing folk lore now baby 😊 Remember Peter Blake may he RIP a wonderful bloke and great Yachtsman/conservationist lost there mast on Ceramco in the Whitbread round the world race 1982 and finished 3rd under jury rig… the yacht was later sold and renamed CASTAWAY i crewed on her in the Hamilton Island Series in the Whitsundays in North Queensland…Powerful boat ……. Survival at Sea without a Mast in the Southern Ocean still trying to think of a good title for your book 📖…. As the saying goes the hardest part of any challenge is the finish…… 💪🌺

Hi lady Hare, Thank you very much for your videos on slow boat to Melbourne. You can’t imagine how admirable I find your attitude and „work“ on your „crippled“ boat. Sailing solo myself sometimes (in way easier conditions) I maybe can slightly imagine some of the tension you must feel… I wonder wether you are wearing a lifesuite and a lifevest when working on deck? I wish you will… Take care and I hope you can enjoy the incredible special moments you are exhibiting right now, even if you planned otherwise - only really special people have the „guts“ (excuse my poor English, Lady) to get into your position! All the best for 2025, and I hope to watch some more of your adventures in the next years ! Cheers, Andreas
