It's just my daughters & I now. I've been thinking, plotting, & planning on this topic & everything off grid & self-sufficient for over a decade now. I've settled on the Brown Swiss for a lot of the reasons he mentioned. They are a much larger breed than the Jersey but vastly more docile, quite, & gentle. We only plan on having a homestead herd. So a bull with two or three cows. We only have 6.3 acres to work with for now. And since I'm middle aged I plan to have permanent fencing instead of electric. This conversation confirmed a lot for me in the decisions I've made, thank you! Very helpful!
