Very cool interview! Especially the ins and outs of the Futari run... that Gus managed to pull off those dodges in a live event, still puzzles me to this day. Also, good luck to you and Kiwi at being included in the next AGDQ schedule!

And here I was going to ask you to talk about Gus's interview with CAVE. It's really cool to see that his AGDQ Futari run not only influenced the western scene, it impressed the Japanese superplayers too! You guys did amazing with getting shmups out of the underground. At worst, shmups will just go back underground. But if it pays off in the long term, we can see some revitilisation in the genre. Maybe if more people gain an interest in shmups, it can spur the big shmup developers to continue making new shmups and porting their games to modern platforms. Shmups at GDQ could help to bridge the gap between the western and Japanese communities. Hopefully you and/or Kiwi will be able to get a shmup into SGDQ as well and keep the momentum going! I hope Shmup Slam 2 will be very successful. I'll be sure to tune in (though I'll probably lurk).

Yes for sure! Fingers crossed because it would be awesome for kiwi or myself to get in. Yes, I really hope shmup slam 2 goes well and gets more people interested in the games. I'm trying to be optimistic without getting my hopes up too high.

I didn´t saw the Run live and watched it on KZbin. BUT as it got recommended for me (I was on my way to bed) I immediately clicked on it and was so stunned that my favorit danmaku shooter (and a shooter in general) got a spot in this awesome event. Had goosebumps the whole run! Hope there will be another one in SGDQ. Respect to Gusto!!!
