Most people that get told they have bone on bone hip arthritis are usually left hanging on what to do next.
Doctors usually just recommend medications, injections and surgery, which don’t really solve the root of the problem. They just treat the symptoms. Often they get sent to an orthopedic surgeon who recommends a hip replacement for the hip osteoarthritis.
This video explains what you should be doing right now if you have bone on bone hip arthritis so you can avoid having a hip replacement surgery.
These tips help with pain relief as well as setting you up to move into strengthening your muscles to address the muscle imbalances.

How to avoid surgery on bone on bone knee arthritis?

What a discovery! As a former professional dancer/performer/teacher/choreographer for 60 years, the wear and tear on the muscle/joint structure is huge. All the dance genre (ballet/modrn/jazz/tap) have taken their toll even though my entire body spent most of my 90 years in amazingly good shape. Yes..90 ! Just within the last year or so, my one hip has succumbed to arthritis and bone reduction. AND PAIN! Your video seemed to be speaking just to me and my current pain problem. One thing of interest is that due to the constant physical work, my glutes have always been hard as a rock and supportive. Only recently, the pain factor has caused a change of use and balance so as to allow the glutes to recede and become non-functional.. Your description seemed to be speaking just to me. I will not do the hip replacement at this age and all of your comments resonated with me, big time! I sit (at my computer) way too many hours a day and your suggestions about the 'sleeping position/pillow', muscle massage, glute-tightening all make sense. Thank you thank you. I expect to improve soon, as I will begin your simple. logical focus immediately. Your clear and direct approach is like a light bulb going off in my head. Where's my water bottle?

Hey Sylvia, I was so excited to read that we both have a few things in common. Sorry that its not only the dance, performing, teaching, choreographing but also the clear evidence of our hip beginning to break down and talk to us that we share in common. You were/are such a fabulous dancer/singer/performer and I recall seeing you with Mary/Dick Show and much more. I'm sure you've had a grand life and all that dance pounding did impact your body but I hope you too feel so fortunate to have had such thrilling, full years through dance and wouldn't have changed it. You do have some years on me but its just numbers and I just wanted to say hello. I too felt Dr. David gave the clearest, most logical, understandable instruction and I hope you will get as much relief as I have already. All the best to you Sylvia! Clara/CB

I have bone on bone hip, left. Just exercised with you-glutes and massage thigh muscles, with a compression gun similar to yours, that I found on clearance, for $9.00 at Walmart. Regular price about 28$. I have been pre-authorized for jelly fish gel injections in hips. But because I compression fractured my L-1, the injections have been delayed. I lived in ElPaso and love the desert there. Always felt like home. I subscribed and am wanting all notifications. Thank you for helping the common People with your teachings. One time 5 minutes hip squeeze and thigh massage I actually feel better. Thank you Penny Haulman Im 80 yy

Bless you for your guidance. I’ve been a personal trainer for over 20 years & I’ve noticed a huge increase in doctors recommending joint replacements for all patients with joint pain. It’s very shady especially when most are fairly young 40 years old is typical age when they begin selling you this option. My gut tells me that it’s purely a business $$ matter. Sad. Thank you for your integrity 🙏🏼

I am 20 years old and suffer from hip arthritis, but my surgeon says to wait on a hip replacement and try to do everything I can do avoid it. So I do think some surgeons still care, but others still might be driven by monetary causes.

5 years ago I was told I needed a hip replacement. The head of the femur looked like a mountain range and there was zero cartilage on both sides. It got so bad I could hardly walk. I was 47... I went plant based, after an immediate decrease in inflammation from eliminating all processed foods and sugar, my hip got progressively worse. After 2 years I went keto and then carnivore combined with intermittent fasting. Huge improvement immediately. I combined this with traction exercises to get fluid to the joint and trigger point therapy to soften the associated soft tissue pain as my body protected the joint. Again, that worked to a point and I had definite improvements. But the game changer, 4 months ago I bought a rife machine. Within a few weeks I had rotation without grinding, within a few months the rotation improved and the pain decreased. I currently walk 5 to 10km a day with my dogs and am almost pain free. The body CAN self heal, don't let your drug pusher tell you otherwise.

Price ,up to two months off work ,complications from surgery and why go to the extreme with surgery if you can change lifestyle habits and delay surgery at least so you don't have to have another one later in life ....that's why
@sportysbusiness
@sportysbusiness Жыл бұрын
@@danmcarthur8077 Several reasons. There are major complications from all surgeries, including death. I am one of those people who react very poorly to general anaesthetic, so really don't need the risk. I am a pureblood and therefore 100% do not want contaminated blood. Replacements have a finite life, around 15 to 20 years, so I am guaranteeing I will need further surgery in the future and there is no guarantee the government will pay for it, even if it's available. And finally, why on earth would I want something artificial (and potentially toxic) in my body when I can heal naturally?!!!

I have "severe" osteoarthritis in my left hip & L4-L5 (low back). Officially diagnosed in 2020 but had pain & stiffness starting around mid 2018. I was told I had to have a hip replacement but currently that is not possible as I do not have insurance. (long story) I came upon this channel just a few days ago & I have been exploring the Hip Pain topics. I can't believe I am getting better advice & information from a PT on KZbin than what I've gotten in the last 6 years from my actual medical providers. Mind blown!🤯 Providing me with the details as why I should or should not do something is very valuable to me. I am 63 & feel 83 & even though my pain ranges from a 7-12 around the clock, I am not on any narcotics. I manage my pain with anti-inflammatories, heat, ice & joint supplements. I stay home 98% of the time due to my pain & physical limitations. I have to use a wheelchair 👩‍🦽when I leave the house as walking just kills me. If I try an outing with my family my pain & stiffness is off the wall & then spend several recouping. 🛌 So... I am going to try some of the suggestions on this channel and see if I can get better pain relief. Wish me luck! 🍀

Your encouragement and reassurance on recovery was such a blessing. May I ask how old you are and are you overweight? I guess I wanted to find out if you are in good shape physically… I am 74 and somewhat or a little more obese. I eat correctly and have had a fairly healthy life. Thank you Dorothy…. @@epmanualphysicaltherapy thank you for taking the trouble to reply. I watched some of your other videos and I think the physio has misinformed me! I believe now that I have hip bursitis not arthritis! I did the 2 movements that you suggested to check, plus my hips are stiff at all but very very sore especially when I lay on my side in bed. They physio actually told me that exercises wouldn't help 😳. I can confirm that after doing the buttock clench and the other exercises, it is helping. Needless to say I've cancelled further appointments. I've shared your channel with my daughter and friend who have back issues.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate this and other of your videos I have been checking out this morning. My hip is so far gone that I have to have hip replacement surgery. My rheumatologist (I have rheumatoid arthritis) has always said I can’t have joint replacement surgery because it simply won’t work for me. However he now says I absolutely have to have hip joint replacement. The senior radiologist (family connection) who managed my work up said that my hip is as bad as it gets and that my pain level would be a 9/10. He was right. However in the past 12 months I have had 12 UTIs so have not been able to even see surgeon. Turns out I have bladder diverticulitis. Who knew such a thing existed??? However I am now seeing a top hip surgeon on 12 March. In the meantime, I am working hard to give myself the best rehab possible. I have a good physiotherapist (or at least I believe so), but I am now following all of your advice. I am 76 and can only have Panadol for pain, having had horrible side effects from a pain patch. I therefore have to manage pain and sleep primarily through exercise and relaxation techniques. I am just so grateful I found you on U-Tube. I am highly exercise motivated and I just love your exercises and tips. Absolutely no trouble to implement these continually throughout the day. I have also just sent away for a massage gun. One day I will provide feedback on my successful post-operation rehab, but it could be a long way off. Meanwhile, I wish you all the very best. This seems the only way I can offer a heartfelt gratitude practice.

I’ve been doing a lot of these things just by self-discovery. You have to be very self aware. When I get into certain positions, I can feel more spacing in my hip joints. Pointing my toes and knees outward provides much relief. Squeezing the glutes give me instant relief as well. I do leg extensions to actually strengthen my quads then massage as well with my gun. Monster walks strengthen my outer part of my legs too and help ease the pain. Putting ankle weights on my affected leg and letting it dangle off a step while bearing all my weight on the other leg helps too. Great video, as all these things should be beneficial. I was in excruciating pain a few months ago and after sticking with these exercises and altering my diet some, I have definitely minimized my pain. I used to cramp and seize up at night to where I couldn’t sleep but an hour or two. Now, I can rest with minimal pain. I do feel symptoms come back at the end of my work day which indicates I still have some stamina work on which should help me get through the entire day but I can tell I’m on the right track.

Try things, be analytical, learn about the muscles, watch KZbin and find wonderful advice and physios like this one! I used to put all my healing in the hands of others whose job I thought it was but we also have a responsibility to look after ourselves. And no one can “feel” for us. For anyone out there going through this like me, don’t delay anymore to pay attention to your body and be involved.

I use turmeric and ginger in my smoothies (Never had much luck with the other supplements you mentioned) and use the massage gun on the side of my hip and it is a miracle how well this works, I was told I needed two hip replacments 25 years ago and I found these techniques on my own. I rarely have days when my hip aches a little but it does not last especially if I use the gun. Turmeric Root with black pepper powder to enhance the effectiveness of the Turmeric and drinking ginger tea is a God sent. I also attribute my healing to not eating all of the time (Intermittent Fasting) will take the pressure off your hip since you lose weight :)

That massage gun. Jesus Christ. Yes lord. That thing is amazing lol and it don't take long. It gets down in there. My roommates hear that sound of vibration and hear me moaning. They're nasty minds think it's for something else . I showed it to them gave one a massage 💆‍♂️ for about 15 minutes. She slept for 2 days no lie. The gun works very very well

A most comprehensive guide, I’m at the early stages of pain, and am still very flexible, ( possibly due to yoga practice) scans have revealed extensive arthritis in both hips. Mostly they are causing back pain. I’m hoping to keep surgery away. Thanks for your excellent guide, it is super that you explain the pit falls such as the pillow being kicked away. I can relate to that. My buttocks feel sore too, the clinching is simple yet so effective.

Hey you're welcome @efitz3397! It's great to hear that you're still flexible - that's definitely consistent with being in the early stages of hip arthritis. Get obsessed with getting more glute strength!! That will help you remain healthy so that you can avoid surgery!
