It's an interesting brand, but what I don't like is that they have the Sportive Diver which is a "homage" of the Oris Aquis, and those Steinhart type of moves, to my eyes somehow cheapens the brand. In the other hand you have Edox making their own thing but being totally ignored by enthusiasts. Great review, nice watch, enjoy it Richie boy!.
@whatsonthewrist
@whatsonthewrist 3 жыл бұрын
Hey, Eternal. I think the Sportive can stand on its own, particularly the day/date model. I agree about Edox and their Skydiver is sharp. Thanks, brother.
@AeternumAngel
@AeternumAngel 3 жыл бұрын
@@whatsonthewrist I don't know my friend, the Oris case and bracelet is not a generic one, not a generic design, anything alike is too obvious for my comfort, and the Sportive is too much alike and I mean in person. About Edox, I will try to gave them another chance, they have very interesting designs, just that my first and last Edox encounter was a very dissapointing experience, but still I do really love and try to support the originality and that brand, to my eyes is very unique. My latest watch purchases were very dissapointing so I'm still stuck to guitars ;).

Beautiful watch. They should consider removing the " limited Edition " text on the dial - and the number. It really isn't necessary, and detracts from the overall aesthetic of the watch. I like the bracelet - it's a great addition in my opinion. Regards,

@whatsonthewrist 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, QUARTERS-EYE. I know what you mean regarding the limited edition text, and at first I felt the same way, but now I like it. epos uses texts on their dial for some models. For example, between their Big Moon and North Star, I prefer less text on the Big Moon.

@@whatsonthewrist Thank you for the reply Rich. I've been looking at Epos for quite some time now. I'm glad to see them putting their models on bracelets - especially the Verso 2 - it looks stunning. I also like the North Star and Big Moon, so I will have to decided which model to buy - they all look great in my opinion. Regards, Steven

@@whatsonthewrist I’ve decided to buy the Big Moon with Blue Dial on Beads of rice bracelet. For everything you get - An ETA 2892-a2. with moonphase, day, month and date complication, plus incredible Lume for the moonphase - On a really nice Beads of Rice Bracelet. For under $2,800 Dollars - is simply incredible. Epos are a fantastic brand. I will be picking up the Big Moon May of next year. It will make an excellent addition to my collection. It’s a pretty cool looking watch. The limited edition text is kind of a strange choice…it seems like it is “trying” too hard? Maybe that’s just me. I’d really like it better if that was on the case back. Nice video, as always. Thanks Rich.

I wish I could get a watch in this style but with the ETA 2824, 2836, or 2892 (of course without the rotor) instead of the ETA 6497 because for me personally at 43mm this watch is just way too big, I'd ideally want 38mm or less. It seems so difficult to find this style though in this price range though- the small, offset dial that lets you see the rest of the movement.
@whatsonthewrist
@whatsonthewrist 8 ай бұрын
I understand your thoughts. I also feel the 6497 is nicer to look at than the 2824. Enjoy the continued search and let me know if you find one.

It is a nice looking watch...I`d change the bracelet for a strap that`s all. Besides, this is a watch that has to be so big because of the movement....called a marriage watch back in the day....

@holgervoigt4315 3 жыл бұрын
@@whatsonthewrist A lot of pocket watches were converted to wrist watches, sometimes by just welding on wire lugs to the watch case, later by re-casing. "Marriage" may refer to the coming together of two separate components. this is an example kzbin.info/www/bejne/jom9m2BsndZ8iNU

Do you think it has a reasonable price at $3000?
@whatsonthewrist
@whatsonthewrist Жыл бұрын
Well that is a challenging question to answer with a simple yes or no. It depends on your budget and collection. I will say the watch has been serving me very well. It has great Swiss Made build quality and is very pleasing to look at. I also appreciate hand wound movements. It’s a nice standout in my collection. I hope that helps.

@whatsonthewrist

It has premium quality. It is reliable. It uses a solid and reliable movement which we’ve seen on other watches that are both more expensive and less expensive. I’d say at $2500 it might be a simple yes for value. At $3k you can argue the price is on the higher side.
