Have you considered turning the presonus and trying mackies line of USB mixers?

I mention the PreSonus I had tried switching to in this video :P I couldn't really find any 2-bus mixers that had the amount of inputs I need for a competitive price to the x1832 and x2222 so there was no reason for me to switch.

Look how long you've had that Behringer POS. I used to be like that. Now I try to buy quality equipment and tools. Just a thought.

Uhuh. Find me a "quality" 2-bus mixer (sub-mix) with 4+ stereo inputs and 4+ XLR/TRS inputs and physical on-board controls for routing for around $300 and I'd happily return my x2222 order and buy it. There really isn't anything, and nothing more "quality" would benefit me - actual audio quality won't change, and at best I might not need my hum destroyers anymore, which I've already paid for :P I, too, "try to buy quality equipment and tools" and this one has been a work horse and has done the job better than anything else I've tried. Any potential "quality" upgrade means way more cost or sacrifice in terms of workflow, which just doesn't make sense to do.

I have owned my 1832 since July 2017. I use it for practice and live performances, I am a single keyboardist/vocalist. I turn it off/on 10-15 times a day- EVERY DAY and run it 3-4 hours per day + live gigs. It has caused me NO problems what so ever. And it is totally quiet with tons of headroom. The effects are extremely useful once you find what suits your style and needs. The 9 band EQ AND feedback finder are extremely useful as is the compressor. I run my Casio PX-560 thru a Radial ProD2, using XLR's to the mixer. I use a Shure PSM 300 wireless in-ear monitors run thru a Radial Stage Bug 6, and Shure GLX D 24 wireless mic system, using an XLR to the mixer. I run two QSC 8.2's (XLR's) thru a Radial Twin Iso for my sound. My sound is crystal clear, and I receive compliments re my sound wherever I play! From my experience this is one fantastic mixer- and it cost me $249.00! My one complaint- the 48 volt phantom power switch is right next to the power switch- but I taped it off. I was aware of the many negative comments re Behringer before I purchased. But I also saw many positive comments. Since many "other" factors can contribute to a products performance I took this into consideration, I'm glad I did. Nothing in this price range has the features or performance of this mixer from my experience.

Can the noise issue be because you use much single ended signals instead of balanced audio transfering.

Thank you for this thorough look at this mixer. Getting a good digital and yet hands-on solution going is either expensive or a lot of setup work. The two Tip Of The Hats streams I mixed were done on a Mackie 1608 DL(iPad mixer), an RME Fireface UC(USB interface) and a Focusrite 2/2 USB interface(streaming machine input) for the first event. The second swapped out the Mackie for the X32 Behringer, which improved hands-on control a great deal. Extra iPads helped as remotes as well. That’s the expensive option. The cheaper option is to have a professional audio interface like the RME, and use Reaper because it’s so flexible to use with any control sources, be they the computer keyboard, midi devices or controllers. Now I’d be testing the smaller ipad mixers, depending on the show size. The X32 was running multiple sub mixes from up to 10 mics and lots of stereo line sources. Submixes for commentators, players, production crew, stream and even live stage. Great preamps too, though the Midas version may be better if you have a wider range of signal sources. If it’s financially viable, I’d go with a medium digital mixer and a pro audio interface.

Lol $250 mixer versus $1200 mixer - not even remotely the kind of thing I'm going for. I literally just need to hear all my sources, record my mic, and output RCA to my tape deck while that's an option - there is quite literally no reason to jump to such expensive nonsense for that, and I'm not sure why people keep pushing that. Not to mention far out of my budget.

I also use a Behringer mixer, a qx1622 to be exact, and am pretty happy with it in my dual pc stream setup (Mainly because it's the only one with all these features in this form factor. If I had more space on my desk, I would probably choose the Yamaha MGP12X).

Hi EpoxVox, I have this mixer along with a Rode Procaster mic. Connected via usb to my Laptop. And like you mentioned in the video I'm getting very low volume when recording in this method. What route would you suggest I go. A. Get a separate preamp device to plug mic into then into mixer (and which product do you suggest) or B. Try to use line level output ? Love the content and the vids. Thanks in advance.

I am looking at moving to Yamaha MG10 or Mackie ProFXv2 mixer. Which would you recommend? Have seen both recommended for their good pre-amps. Currently have the Behringer 802 USB and it was okay to start, but I'm looking for better quality audio and more inputs now. Looked at interfaces but just not enough control for Live stuff. Would love to have the Zoom L-12, but it's a little out of my budget. Thoughts on either of the two listed above?

Damn. Both are two of the top rated. Was leaning towards the Mackie because of the faders and recommendations. But the last thing I want is a noisy pre-amp. I'm also back to leaning towards Zoom L-12. If I got that I should pretty much be done having to upgrade for several years unless something big happened. Haha Thanks for sharing your experience!

If you don't need the physical Controls on the device you are plugging things in and out of, I've used the Beheringer X air 12 for all of my streams and it has been AMAZING. It's got all the effects the really expensive X32 mixer has, all in a small headless box you can stash away behind your computer so You don't have to have the mess of wires from multiple sources. You can create up to 6 buses, route them all around internally, do compression, EQ, hard limiting and even have up to 4 effect tracks you can send. It's really the professional mixer and you should take a look. The only downside is that it doesn't come with hardware controls. I found being able to mix it on my PC and tablets to actually be a better solution since it cleared up desk space. If you need more inputs, or need USB out on it there's an XR 18 model. Oh and the pres on it are not noisy. Worth it for that alone.
@EposVox
@EposVox 6 жыл бұрын
I was looking at that, but seemed to not do what I need for the $When routing on the PC, can you combine inputs? I.e. the one I was looking at was just a bunch of mono inputs, so I'd need to pair some up for stereo. and can you route them to separate Windows-detected devices, or is it just a big multi-channel ASIO device? That doesn't work for most of my uses, sadly.
@alexander_mejia
@alexander_mejia 6 жыл бұрын
The software lets you combine 2 inputs next to each other as stereo, so you can fade one track or set compression settings and it will affect both. The XR18 acts as an 18 In/Out USB audio interface. You can assign weather the analog inputs on the board are used, or if input from your PC is used to mix. There is a driver on their web page. I'm not sure if it shows up as 18 seperate WME sound cards or if it's just an ASIO device you can control for windows. On the XR18, there are 6 balanced XLR AUX outputs on it. You can route any number of tracks, pre/post fader,eq,and FX to any of the AUX outputs. We use to take side-chain ducked compressed audio and send it out into a box that would combine the audio with an HDMI signal to have a processed game recording go into a capture card, while we summed several microphones all with seperate Compression and EQ settings to another output for Skype Calls. You'll have to spend a few thousand dollars to get something more versatile and flexible than that mixer.
@ClockworkD0rk

You can combine any two inputs to stereo on any mixer. That's what the L/R faders are for.
@EposVox
@EposVox 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I looked into it, it's ASIO/18ch vs 2 ch only. Digital mixers are virtually useless for my workflow. Seem perfect if you're JUST recording audio, but recording audio on the fly in video capture apps that can't handle ASIO multichannel, not gunna work.

I use an x-air 12 also, and the noise floor on it is non-existent. I love it. Even if you don't land on this guy, a digital mixer will help with noise reduction so much in your setup. There are two auxilary outs, as well as a main stereo out you can use both for sub-mixes. (One stereo mix, one stereo submix or two mono sub mixes) There are also 4 internal busses that you can route anywhere. Honestley, you might want to pick one up, and the return it if you don't like it.

Im looking into a Mixer for streaming and have been looking at MG10XU. Im using a dual PC setup and want Discord, Music and Game audio seperate. I was thinking that the MG10XU will work if I use the mono line for Discord. Later I have been looking into the MG12XU just to get that extra stereo output, but the extra $ (I know you can do more with the MG12XU). I also was looking into Behringer X1204USB or Mackie ProFX8v2. Now I can't pick. The Behringer is so much cheaper then the MG12XU, but many say that stay away from Behringer Xenyx mixers. I have been researching alot and can't decide. Im also looking into hooking a Shure SM7B or RE320. Any thoughts where to go with the setup I want?

Hi there, I've got the X1204 mixer. I've setup all the inputs (from gaming and streaming to mixer) the streaming pc is only outputting to my right ear. The mic is having issues with volume and there this overall static noise that occurs no matter the inputs or ouputs - even on the USB output. I also got a 1/4 to 3.5 so I can set my discord output to my monitor and route that to the mixer as a separate mono track for VoIP but the quality is very bad. I tried on my phone too and the same issue occurs.

If you use pretty much any usb audio interface, and voicemeter of course, you can avoid using any onboard audio of any kind, monior or motherboard, and avoid any audio interference from your electronic components. It seems odd that you are using any onboard audio at all since you are using that mixer. You will almost always get some bleed from using any quarter inch line inputs if they are audio outputs from either your monitor or motherboard audio. Using the asio input for your audio interface in voicemeter will allow you to route all audio outputs from your mixer to the inputs on your usb interface and avoid any high frequency bleed from your pc. Many many hours of using voicemeter and all its features.

I only mentioned it because I have never been able to get crystal clear audio from most PC audio out sources. Every HDMI and motherboard audio source has always caused audio quality issues with any of the equipment I have ever used. If you have a very well made (shielded sound card) then you can pipe the audio for the final mix to obs with the line input from the main mix output from the mixer, but I haven't been able to find an affordable internal sound card that doesn't pick up interference from the motherboard and such. In lieu of that, I've been using voice meter as the default output for the PC sound (games, whatever.) and using the inputs on a USB audio interface to grab the audio from my mixer (mics, whatever else is connected ) and since I'm using the asio driver there is no latency at all, or any noise or hissing or anything. Oh, and if you have a mixer that has the ability to do multi track out over USB, they then to run about 500-800 bucks for decent ones, you can use Voicemeters asio input to send the audio to a separate channel input for each, and then output that to any input or anything in any application running on your computer. Short of having multiple audio out sources ( usb interfaces, to avoid any interference from the motherboard.) this is the easiest, headache free way of managing your audio for streaming and recording that I have been able to come up with.
@EposVox
@EposVox 6 жыл бұрын
Weird, I've never had issues w/ motherboard out. And USB audio gets bad when you're putting system under full load. Windows likes to kick out audio devices. Wound up having a bad time when I tried switching from this to USB interfaces for a while.

Yes i have noticed the under full load issue as well, I imagine that with a really high end motherboard that might not be as much of an issue. I have tried really hard to avoid as much in the way of software and stick with hardware as much as possible,

@carlmmii 6 жыл бұрын
Can confirm, the signature 12 is a joy to use. Very similar functionality to the 1204+ on the behringer side, more aux lines, and a very clean mix. Also, no USB issues to note -- no problems at all with sending and receiving at proper volume. The one weird bit that I wish was better done is how only channel 1&2 have compression (and it's really just a limiter toggle), and only channel 5&6 have hi-Z toggles. Also, main out is XLR-only. Other than that, for the actual audio quality, it does a phenomenal job of keeping the signals clean from start to finish.

Nice setup. Very similar to what I have for my DJ streams. Got my DJ mixer into an Allen & Heath Zed 14 analog mixer, then that goes into my audio interface (Presonus Studio 192, kinda overkill) which I then ingest into OBS for streaming and Audacity for quick recording. I didn't try the Behringer mixer before going to the Zed 14 but I did try the comparable mackie one and yup I agree there's some crazy noise in the lower end mixers if you need to push it. If you can I'd highly check out one of the Zed mixers if you're still having issues or want to check something else out. Feel free to ask me any questions if ya need too :) Thanks for doing all these awesome streaming videos man.

Interesting you would stick with Behringer given the hum issues you were talking about. Right now, I am using a UR44 audio interface and I was thinking about switching back to a mixer. I could get something like the MG10XU from Yamaha but the FX Send is the only send you really have and like you mentioned, there are no submixes. I've also thought about the Mackie ProFX8v2 (and 12v2), but that again runs into the same issue. From my online research, the only mixer via USB that doesn't have this issue is the Allen & Heath mixers. Of course, I don't think they have the number of inputs I would need. Ideally, I would probably need the Yamaha MG12XU to do everything I would need via stream...but $$$$. I don't know if I would like to go that high. Truth is, I probably just need to sit down and learn how to use the UR44 in Cubase and I'll be good once I route things how I want. Nice video though! It is fun that it came out at the same time I was shopping for these items as well. Hope it all works out for you.
@EposVox
@EposVox 6 жыл бұрын
Sticking with it because I can't find another competitively priced 2-bus mixer w/ the number of inputs I need. USB isn't used and isn't a priority. And the hum issue is going to be present in most mixers since it comes from my input sources, not the mixer (for the mooooost part). The Hum destroyers clear it all up.

That's interesting about the Focusrite audio interface. My 2i4 is barely a year old and using Voicemeter connected to obs, really makes my AT2035 quiet when using Cubase 6 etc. My gain on the 2i4 is up at ~ 2 o'clock as well. As a telephone market research interviewer, I use my voice daily in a professional capacity on a crapy headset. My voice comes across clear when I need to reach out into even in rural areas even over voip. I'm at a loss as to what's going on with Voicemeter/obs. I'm considering just using my Logitech C270 instead of the 2i4, sigh.

Indeed, but SPDIF only audio is incredibly expensive and doesn't account for microphones or many of the extraneous inputs I use. When you're connecting multiple microphones with a chain of processing hardware on one of them, multiple computers and etc - there's going to be bleed and noise issues no matter what you do. Point to point the cables I use don't seem to cause any inherent noise themselves.

The Aux mix is if you have more then one person or a guest they can monitor themselves. Like a band would use floor wedges or in ear monitors. For the skipe/teamspeak and whatever else vox program you can use virtual audio cable software. I have those setup for my mix. I also found a Tascam 4x4 interface which works awesome!!! I’ll do a video of that it works in 4 modes. I love this thing. But doesn’t work for live band use which is not its intention. tascam.com/product/us-4x4/ any questions let me know!!

Thanks for the demo, I have mic gain issue where it just randomly fluctuates with mine, thanks for going over that, really helped me understand. And God bless you fam and know that Jesus Christ, God in the flesh, has given His life for your sake. Because of His great and deep love for you personally, God Himself became a man to pay for humanity's debt by dying in our place on the cross, and that man is Jesus Christ. God's love cannot and will not go against His own righteousness, so as Judge and Owner of His creation, our debt of sin had to be paid for, but only He could pay it because only He is righteous. And He didnt have to pay for our debt of sin but He chose to for our benefit. Yet we rejoice because our God is alive and well because He ressurected from the cross and conquered death so we could have eternal life, so just as Himself, those who believe will die but we will live again forever more in peace and joy in heaven and recieve His Holy Spirit now. Even though we have a righteous sentence to hell because of our sin, the eternal God has paid for our eternal debt by dying Himself on the cross so we could have eternal life with Him in Heaven if we place our faith in Him (John 17:3). Repent ( turn ) from your sins and turn to Jesus and He will surely forgive you because of His grace alone (Ephesians 2:8-10). Follow Jesus for He is a GREAT Savior, Comforter and Friend in good and bad times. Read the book of John in the Bible to know Him, it is Jesus' life, He is the Word of God in the flesh, He is God Himself in the flesh. And we do not use His unconditional grace and forgiveness as an excuse to sin, even though we are not perfect, but we are to desire to wholly devote ourselves to following Jesus, the One who loves us and forgives us. When I sin I am deeply grieved, I lament and repent, turning back to Him, and He righteously forgives me because He has paid for my sin. We do not serve Him to earn His love, we serve Him because He loved us first (1 John 4:18-19). When He came the first time in the form of man He came as a lamb to be slain in our place, but Jesus is coming back as conquering King, the Lion of Judah 🙏, and every knee will bow and tongue confess Jesus is LORD. 1 John 1:8-9 KJV - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Romans 6:23 KJV - For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

@@EposVox didny really mean to come out rude.. i wasjust saying that if you're gonna keep spending money on all sorts of gear to get your setup running, you couls go a little further and get a seamsless solution, at least thats how i see it, you can forget about all that cabling and convoluted processes with a digital mixer, you do all that on the hardware, less cables, less boxes and less things to overcome, you could also look into something of presonus' usb range... Imo it would be a wiser investment, and you also get some futureproofing... So yeah, my bad if it came out rude but was just giving you what u considered a solution

Most of the digital mixers don't work at all for my needs. None of the software I use works well with giant multi-channel devices or ASIO drivers. I need separately-registered WDM audio devices. And I tried the PreSonus StudioLive 16.0.2 and it was a much worse experience than this one.

I've had my Mackie 1202 mixer for 25 or 30 years now. Good preamps but not many features. Only problem I've had with it is the rubber feed turned into goo. Scraped them off and stuck new ones on. Good for another 20 years. Great investment. Here's a photo: reverb.com/item/4816057-early-mackie-micro-1202-12-channel-mixer-4-mono-4-stereo-compact-aux-in-out-desktop

I had the 12 version of this (not the 18). Functionally, it was great. I understood it pretty well. However it was sheer crap. The quality of the electronics was aweful and the thing became progressively more bug-ridden. It would develop subtle faults which you had to discover the hard way. It's a terrible mixer. The ideas were great, but the execution was SHOCKING. It's no wonder pro-audio guy seem to start vomiting every time the name Behringer comes up. Having said that, I mixed audio for a band using the Behiringer X32 fully digital console. It is a fantastic unit. You can't believe it was manufactured by the same company. Actualy, the unit was designed by MIDAS so maybe that is why it worked okay. The faders were cheap and sometimes problematic, but the sound wasn't too bad. I'd have no problems reccomending the Behringer X32 CORE edition instead of something like the Xenyx mixer. That thing was really crap. Bad memories. Don't do it. Just don't. Seriously. Why would you want to hurt yourself. It's like stabbing yourself in the eye every time you discover a new "undocumented feature". Now I have an audio interface with ADAT which breaks out to an extra 8 io ports. The Presonus Studio 192 Mobile. This is perfect for an on-the-road application, but obviously needs a laptop to work because you're "mixing in the box". In other words, it comes with live mixing software. It has built in DSPs which allow you to do sound FX in realtime with no extra latency (beyong the minimal existing audio interface latency). It's a good solution for streamers I think. There are many similar offerings on the market (audio interfaces as in-the-box mixers with their own DSPs). Do the research.
@EposVox
@EposVox 6 жыл бұрын
I've done the research. Digital mixers and ASIO devices are great if you're JUST recording audio, but virtually useless if you need multitrack audio recording on the fly with video capture software and etc. There's a reason I stick with analog and deal with the issues.
