Hi Shane sorry to hear about your floor 😢 my friend you did a wonderful job on last video leveling it, if it was me i would keep it as its instead of wasting more money i would just paint it blue and be done with it but again its your shop, its your money, you do as you please my friend, i think grinding out silicon it might be a bad idea for your lungs and health,

Hello mat, how you been? Keeping it as a bare floor is definitely the easy option. I still cant accept the fact I just didnt read the ingredients of the sealer. I'm reasonably sure there is no form of paint that can stick to silicone with a strong enough adhesion to with stand the loads I'll be moving around on it. Yep the dust from grinding it will be some nasty stuff if I do go that route ill be doing a wet grind only untill its removed, but it's not really grinding the machine I'll be using will either have lots of little air hammers under it or a form of flails. Both give more of a chipping action then grinding. But we will see I'm not sure what I'm going to do I only took the paint up yesterday, I've got some samples of chemical strippers coming to try so we will see as I'd rather not tear up the concrete

Hey Shane,,,,,,, First let me say well done for holding it together and well done for turning your back on it for a week,,,,, i fully understand how it makes you feel and how your inner self is so angry, especially after using money from family for your birthday on this job..... i know there is nothing i can say to make you feel better about the floor,,but please believe me that shit similar to this happens to me and it has a horrible effect on me when it does,,,, so well done for being able to make this video,,,i would have probably smashed the shed down in temper which would have the nice result of making things even worse,,,so i commend you on your ability to be able to "cope" with this disaster. Now,,,, i want to see you in your shed as much as you would like to be in your shed,,,so if there is any way i can help please let me know,,,we have been friends for a long time so do not feel bothered about asking me if i can help,,,i'll do my best if i can..... As for grinding the floor AGAIN,,,i think there must be another way that is acceptable to you,,,even if its not epoxy,,,ultimately it is your knowledge and skill that makes a successful workshop,,,,not the colour of the floor....i know thats probably not what you want to hear,,,but trust me it is very true..... Please shout/call me if i can be of any help to you.... try not to let it stop you on your shed mission,,,,i wanna be the first person to drink a cup of tea in there with you when it is finished..... As much as the product was shit and a complete waste of money,,,,it is just yet another problem thrown at you that you now have to find a way round albeit maybe with a compromise on the floor colour/coating.,,,,, things like this piss me off soooo bad and its not even my shed or money its yours....Dont let it beat you buddy,,,you are made of stronger stuff,,,,remember what doesnt kill us only makes us stronger and more resilient...take care Shane....call in when you get a chance for a cup of tea.....

Cheers Andy, I'm gutted but it's also my fault so cant really take it on the shed lol. As much as I like to learn new things I didnt really need this, I've been reading up on silicones and polymers and there molecular structures ect and from what I can tell from my very breef skim over the subject there is no form of paint ect that is up too the task that can bond to silicone to withstand the loads and stresses I'm going to put over the floor. I am looking into options but the odds are it's going to have to be a mechanical removal process. I'll pop in next time in over mate if you dont look busy

Very sorry to see this, with ventilation could the sealer be removed by heat
@smithbuilt Жыл бұрын
Silicone is fairly heat resistant so I doubt it but I might try a patch tomorrow, I'm hoping I can use a chemical solution to desolve it and lift it from the pours. Failing that I have to remove the impregnated concrete mechanically.

only one good thing came out of it. you didn't need a floor grinder to remove the paint. that wood of taken a few days of hard work
@smithbuilt Жыл бұрын
It's taken weeks to grind through the concrete impregnated with the silicone and smooth it all back out... not long finished that bit now I'm just waiting on funds for paint. Thanks for watching
