Been using the old version for years. Excellent motor indeed. One feature you didn’t mention is that it protects itself against touching the ground by stopping the prop and releasing the shaft backwards. Happened to me several times already. You just restart again and you continue without any damage. Great video! Cheers

Hello Fishing Dude, your video helped me decide on the ePropusion Spirit 1.0 Plus.. thank you for your information
@chandlerxu91074 жыл бұрын
The power cable connector of Spirit 1.0 Plus is made of stainless steel with PVD processing technology. It's super durable. For Torqeedo Travel 1103C, the connector is plastic. It's important to make the connector durable as you probably connect it and disconnect it dozens of times per year.

Thanks for the informative video. It contributed to my decision to buy a Spirit 1.0 Plus. I have an off-topic question - where did you make this video? I live in Germany and this looks like the type of area I would like to visit for recreational boating. Don't worry, I won't catch all of your fish ;) I am only interested in sightseeing and relaxation.

The Spirit battery floats! So you never worry about losing it when dropping into the water. For Torqeedo, good luck and spent 1000 euro to buy a new battery if you drop it into the water by mistake.
@artkrot4 жыл бұрын
I own torqeedo for over 10 years have never dropped the battery... real odvantage this motor has over torqeedo is an adapter to use bigger or 3rd party battery. Torqeedo has some great aftermarket accessorries .

My local dealer is recommending the Short Shaft instead of Extra Short Shaft for my 15.5 inch transom height. They mentioned the additional length would be helpful in choppy water conditions there would be more chance of the prop coming further out of the water and then unit will begin to lose performance since one blade is no longer catching all of the water it needs to in order to move the boat forward --especially when encountering waves from other boats or wind blown chop. Did you have this experience with Extra Short Shaft unit?
@FishingDude3 жыл бұрын
No I haven't. As far a I know the propeller is turning slower than the one of a combustion engine, therefore it has to be a lager propeller, so this then of course it has to be put deeper into the water.

Good video. Did you test the range or did you take them of the homepage or calculaded it ?
@FishingDude3 жыл бұрын
I didn't measure the range itself, I measured speed by using an GPS app on my phone and calculated range by using the shown time left on the motor's display. Of course the speed reached by a certain power is individual for every boat.

1)thank you for chance to hear the noise 2) torqeedo sounds is much much more noisy. I started to hate the motor because the noise.
@FishingDude4 жыл бұрын
Since I haven't used the Torqeedo yet, I couldn't compare the sound of the engines, that's why I didn't mention this point in my comparison. So thanks for sharing this information. Other reports mention notable noise differences between different torquedo models, so that's something to keep in mind. Best practice of course is to get your hands on a motor to test it before buying, but especially nowadays that's not always possible...
@thehammer48604 жыл бұрын
Could this be used as a backup motor for a larger boat? My boat weighs about 6,000lbs and this motor could clamp on beside the outboard in case I had an engine failure. Just curious at what speed though. I'm never more than 8miles from home on the water.
@FishingDude4 жыл бұрын
The manufacturer claims "...can work as an auxiliary power for a daysailer of up to 1.5 tonnes", so it seems, it's to small for your needs. But they also sell more powerful engines for boats up to 3 and even 6 tonnes, which would fit your boat, but then need an external battery. I have no clue which speeds then would be possible. More information here: www.epropulsion.com/
What length shaft did you use? XS or S? What is transom height of your boat in video? Thanks.
@FishingDude4 жыл бұрын
Mine is S. I don't know the exact transom height right now, it's something around 400mm. But in the manual 0220afca-6e42-4f45-a99f-0362b314126d.filesusr.com/ugd/77b59c_95bf082fa39549a3a565800cf66fa27b.pdf chapter 3 Installation, the listings are 300-400mm XS, 400-500mm S und >500mm L

@FishingDude3 жыл бұрын

Hmm

How is all this stuff , in a heavy rain??
@FishingDude4 жыл бұрын
I once got surprised by a heavy rain, I went to the shore line and left the boat quickly when lightnings started. After the rain stopped I went back to the boat and crossed the lake again. So engine and battery took no damage from getting really wet - if this was your question. But of course my experience is limited to one heavy rain some lighter ones. You probably shouldn't connect battery and engine when contacts are already we.

How would this motor hold against a 18' saturn inflatable boat
@FishingDude3 жыл бұрын
I've no experience with that kind of boat so I cannot tell you. But since it's longer, wider and heavier than mine, I'd guess - just guess - it might be to weak. But Epropulsion also offers more powerful engines, but they don't come with an attached battery it seems, but I only have experiences with the engine shown in the video.

Does it work in salt water
@FishingDude3 жыл бұрын
I have no experience regarding saltwater. But to quote their website: "Yes, it is designed for extensive use in the saltwater. We choose high-quality aluminum alloy as the base material, and apply anodizing coating and powder coating on top of it."

I promised to keep you up to date. The backpack for the battery showed signs of damage after 5 month - have a look instagram.com/p/CKUSlSdF1I9/. But the replacement arrived eight days after contacting the seller. That seems to me like pretty decent customer service by ePropulsion One more information, the shaft types available are long, short and extra short. Please watch the online available manual to learn which one fits your boat best. I own the short version.

You must not be in the United States. I was all ready to buy E-Pro or Torqeedo outboard motor. BUT, you can not buy one. Even the retailers that advertise them. Have any in Stock and both manufactures say they don't have any. So much for going green!
@FishingDude4 жыл бұрын
Correct, I'm from Germany - but I'm also lucky to have one of these. Shortly before the first lock down started last year, I contacted many retailers until I found a single one in stock, I immediately reserved it, jumped in my car and bought it. So I was really lucky to get one back then - and it seems it's still hard to get. The Torqeedos seem available over here, but that might be the case because that's made by a German company...
