I have had my 1430 for years and it is still going strong. It has much in it's favour.

I've had the 1430 since 2012 and it's practically bullet proof. Example: in 2016 my house flooded, as the water was rising toward the house, we put a lot of our valuable equipment (computers, printers, etc) in the attic hoping that the water wouldn't get that high. We ended up with about 3.5 ft of water in the house and spent the next 8 months ripping out walls, flooring, drywall, etc and rebuilding our home. This was the height of summer in Louisiana and that printer sat in the attic the whole time, uncovered, with construction dust, high heat, and humidity to keep it company. When we moved back in, I retrieved the printer, blew the dust out of it, hooked it up and it printed full color beautiful photos like nothing had ever happened to it. I'm still using it to this day. It's 11 years old, and I've never had a problem with it.

I used one of these for a few years but traded out for a Canon because this printer, no matter what I tried, would not duplicate the colors on my screen, it was always way off. I even sent off to have a specific profile made for my ink and paper, and still it was way off. It was important for me that my prints be very specific in the shades of colors I printed, and this printer just would not do that. You could completely de-saturate a grey and it would still print blue-grey. The Canon's colors are much more accurate to the screen / print preview with just the standard Canon profile...

I just purchased this same printer and I like it. I use the ink cartridges from Epson. I experimented with Sraples matt photo supreme paper and Ilford smooth Pearl and both did great. Just make sure you clean and align the print head on the 1430.

I had this printer when it first came out it is a great printer the price. I use it for Tshirt transfer, cd printing and photos. I do recommend using epson ink only don’t buy that cheap off brand ink from eBay or amazon it won’t hold its colors. Epson ink might cost more but you get better results. I did some Tshirts for a customer using off brand ink and when they washed the shirts it faded. If you don’t print everyday try to print a color page once a week to keep your colors and heads clean and clog free. Also don’t use the transfers from Walmart or staples because the material will have a thick texture to the shirt. Order online

I have this printer for 12 years and love the quality prints. I print 12 x 12 cardstock only because its what I print for crafting. The only problem I am having now is that my epson app I have on my phone and ipad does not recognize the 12 x 12 in or 13x19 but I was able to use it until a.month ago.

Have one of these. Worked great for years. Received a firmware upgrade from Epson. Installed it, Every color prints okay but red, red now looks maroon. Believe the upgrade did something to the printer. I use three computer to feed to this printer, red become maroon from all three, so believe it is a printer problem. Have tried to contact Epson about this, but that became a waste of time. During my search for solution I went to Staples to buy a light magenta cartridge. They had now. Manager at Staples said Epson is phasing out the 79 cartridge and probably the printer. Have performed numerous head cleaning routines, have also replaced the Magenta cartridge think this was the problem, but it still exists. Would like to keep it, but being told the #79 cartridges are going away concerns me, but there is always other vendors. Any suggestions to save this printer would be appreciated. Chuck

That ciss system seems really convenient. The only thing I'm wondering about still is how to clean the print head? Thanks for the review! Because of this video I bought the printer, the CISS, the printhead cleaner, ink etc. The only thing I'm still curious about is the bypass system you set up? Can you elaborate a bit more on that sometime and how you set that up? I feel like with all the printing I'm going to be doing that it'll be essential, I'm already getting the occasional small black splotch on my prints when I feel that the pads build up with ink...then again I'm still rather new to this so it could be something else. Either way, if you could explain more I'd be very grateful. Thanks again!

Thanks & You're welcome! I've actually already filmed a video I just need the time to edit it. If the splotch is on the print side of your art it's an occasional fluke from the printhead just "barfing" on your art. Gee thanks. If it's on the edges your media is either curved or thick so it's scraping the print head on entry. If it's on the underside you have a dirty path, dabbing a paper towel around the bottom of the printer will help clean it up. Out of curiosity, What are you printing?

Great video! Thanks for the review. My only issue is that I'm trying to print really opaque blacks for film sheets (screen printing) but they keep streaking and coming out light. The printer fresh out the box along with the ink. I'm not sure what the problem is. Only possibility is that the box was sitting for months, but it was sitting at the store too so... you're thoughts?

I just purchased this printer, used for $150 USD. I did not test it at purchase, but the seller did head cleaning and made a test print on it. I took it home, turned it on, and connected it to my MacBook Pro. I selected an image to print, but at first attempt the printer responded, but did not print since I forgot to open the paper output door on the front. Made a second attempt, but the printer says, 'Cannot print because the CD/DVD tray is installed.' I checked the printer, but I don't see any tray installed. Made several attempts, the same outcome. What am I missing? Please help. Thanks!!!

I mistakenly upgraded my firmware and now it will not recognize non OEM cartridges. I do not have the original CD to retrieve the old firmware because I purchased the printer used. I want to use it for DTF now it is a expensive paper weight :( I can not find the old firmware online anywhere

how would you compare to epson r1900? i have someone selling this same print for 350 im buying it for sure , just was wonderig how 6 colors is comared tp 8, ive been trying to print a certain picture and i feel the r1900 is doing to much, i feel like a printer with 6 colours would print it better because it doesnt use as many colours at a time....does that mke sense

great review...you spoke up on sublimation..im looking for a printer to do photos on shirts, as well as sublimation. i saw another video from someone else using the epson wf7710 using it to do sublimation. with sublimation ink of corse, my question is if i want to do the photo shirts AND sublimation as well, can i do both with the same printer as long as i swich the inks whenever i do each job? any feedback would greatly be appreciated thanks

What do you know about reaching the end of its lifecycle? I understand you can reset a chip and it will keep working. But you do need a waste tank. is that what the bypass tank you have is for? You didn't leave a link for that. Your link for the CISS system is no good anymore, I use a HOTZONE CISS myself.

Please help! I think there's something wrong with my 1430. I have a ciss as well as an ink potty and nozzle cleaning fluid. Every time I print on different days the colours are never consistent even when printing the same image with the same settings, on doing nozzle checks it always has missing parts in the coloured lines no matter what I do. Its inconsistency is driving me mad.

I own a stylus photo 1500w which is afaik almost the same model just renamed. And I do have a CIS too, but what is the thing called you used to fix the ink tubes leading to the cadridges. That big white/gray thing. My tubes are so darn loose.

Hello, i am using this printer for sublimation with cis from Inkxpro. I have a lot of trouble trying a good print. First the pin wheels from the printer (somepeople calle pizzawheels) got marked the paper, even if i clean the wheels before printting, i just like the ink doesn't dry and the wheels stain by that ink. So i try to take out the middle wheels to stop that, cause any setting i make works, but now i just have problems beacause the ink leak when is printting and the problem goes wrong every time i try to solve. Do you have any idea can i do. i am just loosing my mind.

I got one of this Epson 1430 and the first day I plugged it in there was a power surge and the printer had smoke coming out of every vent. It worked for a week then stopped connecting to my laptop via usb, I think the USB port is fried bcus whenever i plug it in, my mouse doesn’t work properly and the usb cable shocks. so I took it in for fixing and they’re having my capacitor changed cus it was really banged up from the power surge. I’m yet to pick it up from the shop. But Please I’d love to be guided on how to connect the printer to my laptop wirelessly so I don’t have to worry about the usb even if ends up not working anymore. Do I need a router to do that or is there a way i can connect to my laptop? I’m frustrated right now. This is my 1st epson and I’m yet to enjoy it. I need help! Pleeeeease

Yes and no. It can print large format prints great, photo real if you have images of your food on the menu. But you'll want to laminate them as these are dye based inks and will not hold up to water.

Are the after market inks archival? I had some bad luck finding the right type of dyes or pigments for my printer. Color profiles are all messed up, the paint something won't stick to the papers like it should....what are your thoughts. I heard you used the word good enough a few times, but would you buy a print if it was just good enough? I ended up switching back to oem ink....its a lot better but fregging expensive.

This is a good question. Also, the problem with inks is it is only good for images for display, not for art that people touch like comic book pages.

"Most"? No. I have had times when it will eject certain types of materials. It always handles normal paper and photo paer just fine. What are you using?
