Epson printer prints blank pages or skips colors after changing ink. Easy fix.

This is an Epson WorkForce WF-7620 printer which doesn't put out any ink. Original owner never removed air hole tabs from cartridge. If you have same issue, please check your cartridges air flow first! Thank you for watching!

This video did not help at all. All of the tabs were removed from the ink cartridges before installation. And still only the blue ink cartridge is printing. Are there no further things you know that could solve the problem? Because obviously this one “fix” doesn’t solve them all.

Hey, I never said this is the only solution to the problem, but according to other comments, the points we go through in the video are easily missed and are the first to be checked before spending money and serious time on repairs, so if this want what your printer issue was, try other things such as cleaning printhead, etc. In any case, I hope this video will help many more people, like it already has.

I found one of these on the side of the road and it seemed to be in perfect shape. However, the printer prints in all colors besides black, and it doesn't appear to print the full strip of magenta on the nozzle check and the print alignment has horizontal streaks of green. Upon inspecting the inside, the metal rails appear to get built up yellow and black residue, though it's not much. Any ideas? Brand new ink (and yes, I removed the tabs).

This worked for us with alternative ink carts. It turned out that there was no airhole under the yellow tab, so we then pulled off the remaining ink-cart label and found one underneath. Furthermore, we needed to do a print-clean straight after for it work. We're using a WF-2750. Thank you so much!

Glad you got it to work right. I've seen plenty of store return printers with partial or full tab still on the ink installed in the printer. I removed all tabs from the cartridge prior to reloading. went through all steps of reloading new cartridge.. and I can barely see what was printed it's really really light. any advice to fix the problem. thanks

ET or EcoTank printers do not have removable cartridges. You can put a folded paper towel with cleaning solution or warm water under the printhead carriage. I just cleaned my nozzles and i have new and almost new cartridges. THey are not printing now but they were before the clean (except Magenta had the worst clog) and magenta was brand new. What do u suggest? I presume the actual ink bottoms that fit onto the nozzles are too dry? Soak them?

I tried running test page, alignment checks and uninstall, shook cartridges re-installed and still no print. Finally gave up and ran a super clean and it worked.

I found my WF7620 thrown out in a skip. I took it home and realized the bit of plastic at the back of the head was broken and catching against the screw with the belt. I managed to remove it and the printer got out of the error state. It now has this issue so I'm going to replace the entire head anyway. The scanner works, but needs a replacement if I want to scan anything above A4 because it produces black lines. I've created a custom preset to get around this. I'm fully invested in fixing this printer because its worth too much to throw out.

Just bought a used WF 610 it's an older model but does what I need plus more for home use. It is showing ink levels a little low but not enough to matter right now. I get no ink on paper when aligning or test printing. I checked cartridges took them out and shook them a little and put back and still nothing. I have ran the Head Cleaning 3 times and still nothing... any suggestions?

This is not the issue I'm dealing with. I have a "hand-me-down" Epson Workforce 645. I just bought new cartridges, and they have been installed correctly. But, the printer is still not working. I cleaned the nozzles, and only two small items appeared at the top of the page - a yellow one and a blue/cyan one.

Hi. Did you manually clean the printhead or by doing the automatic nozzle clean from the printer menu? Automatic nozzle clean drains lots of ink from cartridges, so I do not recommend doing it again. Since the printer was not used for a while, the nozzles may have dried up. I have uploaded a video on how to manually clean a printhead on this type of printer. Have a WF-7620 that suddenly started giving me printouts with coIors missing. Did a nozzle check and patterns were very spotty. Print head cleaning wouldn't solve. I removed the printhead for cleaning and got some caked-up ink out of it (using Epson OEM ink and cartridges) then reinstalled and reassembled. Changed to brand new OEM cartridges across the board afterwards...and took off the tabs. Now I get a blank sheet for anything I try to print. All ribbon cables are plugged in correctly and pretty positive I reinstalled everything correctly. Do you need to prime the new printhead chambers before first use...or could I have a bad vacuum pump? Thanks in advance for any advice.

Hi. This printer will not give you that option. When it prints black,, all cartridges are supposed to be installed and have ink in them, they cannot be empty.. The best think to do is to get refillable ink cartridges and that will save you lots of money.

I had the same problem. I the I changed out one of the colors and the black worked but not the colors. I went and replaced all the colors and now the colors work, but the black does not. I have no clue what to try next. They all obviously work, just not together. I know cleaning the heads multiple times isn't good for the printer either. did you figure out your issue?

Christi Gamman I figured mine out! You have to clean the heads with solution not just the button on the printer that says cleaner. There’s a solution on google that called for dish soap and alcohol you have to look it up for the measurements but I used that. I didn’t have a syringe so I used a baby Nasal aspirator and it fit perfectly over each color head. I cleaned twice and cleaned with the printer button after each solution cleaning and I printed something each time and each time the photo got better and the black showed up along with the colors that didn’t before.

hi after removing the yellow tape i saw a clear tape on top of the air hole. I was wondering whether or not to leave the clear tape on as I tried to print with it as is and it still printed blank pages. If anyone can respond that'd be great!

I have an Epson WF-7720 and the black is printing sporadically. The first thing I thought of was the airhole thing, but its unclear exactly where it is on the big black cartridge. I obviously don't have the yellow tabs on anything, and have tried cleaning the printer head multiple times, with little improvement. Maybe the airhole is still partially blocked, I just need to figure out if the airhole is in the same place or not on those larger cartridges. That or take a baseball bat to the entire thing and swear off any form of technology going forward...

Hi, I have changed the cartridges in my Epson XP-305 with genuine Epson ink, cleaned the nozzles and the heads, but when I printed the results, only the red and black inks showed up, when I printed the nozzle checks there was the top set in black and the three sets below it were in red, no sign of a yellow set or a blue set.! Did you get aftermarket ink from eBay or Amazon? If epson genuine ink, then the problem may be deeper, but if you purchased "remanufactured" cartridges, make sure you got the correct ones.

Yep, buy a black and white laser jet for all writing and a color laser jet for color. Powder inks don't dry out or get wasted!! Print so fast, too! No printing headaches!

Hi. Most likely the printheads are clogged if ink cartridges are good. You can try doing the "clean printhead" option on your printer maintenance menu. If it doesn't help, a manual cleaning may need to be done
