Look into monolaurin/ also known as Lauracidin. Helped me so so much. Do check w your Dr before you use it tho just for safety first. I use Sanoviv brand in pellet form. It's great. But....do start off with small doses. Gradually build up. Do not take big doses go slow. Research it . It was the only thing that can shut my episodes off. Also took epsom salt baths. Think pairing it helped me even faster. Just wanted to share. Def do the research....it may or may not be for you. Wishing you rest and healing

Thank you so much for explaining the Lab Testing. I was tested in late October, all areas were elevated. Especially the IgG Nuclear of 447.0. My doctor basically wrote a letter stating these were elevated. However, no treatment- the symptoms would gradually resolve over time with rest, fluids, and good nutrition. I'm just really disappointed that I had to figure out these labs myself. I had no idea what EBV was, how I got it ect...

I contracted mononucleosis in 2006 and it wrecked my thyroid and now I have Hashimoto's too. I have chronic kidney disease and hyperaldosteronism. I am 55 years old and for the past 13 years my life has been destroyed since contracting the Epstein-Barr virus. I am bedridden and feel like I have a terrible flu or terrible seasickness. I have no energy and now on disability and live in Tucson Arizona. The rents are going sky-high here and I'm already going hungry and have had to give up my car because I can't afford it. I am alone and have no family to care for me and my life is a complete nightmare all because of the Epstein-Barr virus. I used to have a very nice life. Please send prayers🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

Wow. This was very informative! You made it simple with your visual board. Question, if my markers show “past infection”, that means I do not have EBV currently ...correct? I am currently on a antiviral detox, taking Mono Lauren, preparing to take desbio EBV detox kit, etc. is this necessary given my markers show only past infection I’m confused that my doctor has me on this anti-viral protocol. My main symptoms are adrenal fatigue, fogginess, irritability. Thank you very much.

I begged my doctor to test me for EBV as my fatigue is so intense, I can't even function. I put on weight as well. I was tested and have an appointment with my doctor in April 2023. My panel came back as: EBV Ab VCA, IgM 59.1; EBV Early antigen Ab, IgG 42.8; and EBV Nuclear Antigen Ab, IgG 263. From what I can see, I have a reactivation at the age of 65. Do you have virtual consultations - I get tired of begging my doctor for testing.

I’ve had issues like pain throughout my whole body and chronic fatigue, stomach issues, etc for quite a few years. Diagnosed with fibromyalgia and Ibs. I just recently had blood work in November that read as follows: EBV EBNA IgG QST- > 600.00 EBV lgM QST- 750.00 My primary didn’t really seem to worry about it and didn’t explain it. I’ve spent so much money trying to find out what my deal is. It gets frustrating.

I never knew I had EBV. I have autoimmune disease. In 2017 I was hospitalized for my hepatitis as my liver enzymes were almost 3,000. Normal is around 40. St that hospitalization they ran all these tests for EBV. It was never discussed with me and I had no idea until I signed up for online hospital charts. So, a year after the fact I found out mine were all positive. So, I guess I was reactivated. Ugh! And did I say this was University of Michigan hospital?

My results (moving left to right, using your chart) is Neg, Pos (78.1), Pos (424), Neg. That doesn't fit any of your scenarios. Could it be possible that my negative test for VCA IgM is the result of prolonged low IgM (which would account for the absence of this first marker)?

Great series. I'm an NP and working on developing my FM skills and knowledge. Would be nice to know what the presenting signs and symptoms are for reactivated EBV. Are they the same as the initial viral infection? I'm thinking not AS bad considering the presence of antibodies, but fatigue most likely? Also, what are the quantitative values we should be looking for when reviewing labs? ie. what levels are considered current activation and which are normal baseline.

Hi doctor, I truly appreciate your series and I'm trying to figure out what happened to me. I had Heart Stent in 2014 when I was 32 years old with no Family history and all Cardiologists in the hospital couldn't find out the main cause. I didn't perform those tests yet but is it likely that EBV could lead to Heart stroke? By the time I had stroke (June 2014), Lymphocytes% was 51.5 and on May 2017 same test is 12.9. By reading those values, is there any relation between EBV and Lymphocytes results. It seems like a lot of Physicians don't pay attention to CBC Lab report. Keep up the good work.

I just had blood work a short while ago, and I don't see my doctor again for a couple months. my vca igm was negative, ea igg was negative, my vca igg was >5.00, and ebna igg >5.00. it says that's high for the last two. I had NHL in 2015. what does high mean exactly? has it reactivated more than once? to clarify my confusion of this is I was never diagnosed with Epstein Barr virus in my life so far. never had mono or anything. I did have three blood transfusions during chemotherapy treatment though. I'm currently dealing with debilitating health issues. like I said before I will speak with my doctor again but she won't see me again until August, and I'm just wondering if the high number indicates multiple episodes of reactivation of the virus or if I got it from transfusions maybe the donor had multiple episodes?

Hi, thanks so much for these videos. I have a question about results. I don't have the lab results in front of me, but my daughter's pediatrician said that on her EBV test the markers for a past infection were extremely high, about 900. What would that mean to you about what could possibly be going on? They said no active infection, but show a past infection. The doctor does not know what the high markers for past infection could mean. All other lab work and testing is normal, CBC metabolic panel, vitamin D. She's still experiencing symptoms (since March 26) of frequent low grade fevers, headaches, dizziness, nausea and fatigue. Thanks.

According to your chart, I'm Neg Neg Pos Pos. I can surmise that I've had a past infection. The thing that concerns me is that on both of the positive readings, anything above 22 was considered above normal. My readings were 504 for the VCA IgG and EBNuclear IgG was 529, obviously way high! I struggle with chronic fatigue. It's debilitating, and almost everything stresses me out. I'm barely functioning normally. So while I'm relieved that the first two markers are negative on my panel, supposedly showing that I am not currently dealing with an active infection, I wonder if having such high readings on the last two components are the reason for my debilitating symptoms? Any thoughts? Thank you for your very informative videos on this topic....

So if VCA IGM is negative and VCA IGG is positive, then it seems there is no need to test for the other two (EA-IGG and EBNA-IGG). Assuming that EA-IGG and EBNA-IGG are positives, does this mean that this is a past infection and not re-activated ?

For how long does ebv affect lymphocytes. My daughter had EBV test positive on 29 nov. With low wbc high level of lymphocyte and low levels of neutrophils she also had bronchit and she was taking antibiotic klacid for 14 days. After 10 days her wbc increased and also the neutrophils and decreased lymphocyte. We were close to reach the normal level and this test was done on the last day of antibiotics. After one month from last blood test we repeated the cbc test the wbc get little bit lower neutrophils became low again and lymphocytes high again. We repeated the cbc today again after 10 days and wbc get lower but still in the range, neutrophils not too much lower and lymphocyte get little bit lower. Is it normal ?

Can It cause a false positive Lyme IGM? I have been sick with Epstein barr since 2019 but tested positive for Lyme only on the IGM which should signify a recent infection... only I’ve been quarantined for 6 months, haven’t gone hiking and have no pets...

I'm so glad I found this video series. I have been struggling with EBV and its aftereffects for many months now and you have really clarified some of my questions. I was feeling awful for months and finally got some labs back in May which confirmed I had elevated VCA IgG I believe. Now I'm feeling very sick again and I exhibit many of the symptoms you described in the first video. (Additionally, my doctor palpated my abdomen and indicated my spleen is enlarged.) Just wondering if it would be possible to have a reactivated virus only five months later? And also how worried should I be about autoimmune repercussions? If you're able to help with any of these questions I would greatly appreciate it. Otherwise, thanks so much for these helpful videos! Keep it up :)

What if the tests (panel) I had done doesn't have the EA IGM? I see negative for IGM but HIGH Viral Capsid IGG and HIGH Nuclear IGG. Don't see anything else on this panel.

Mine is the same. I don’t have the EA either. And my viral capsid IGG and Nuclear are really high too. Trying to figure out what it means.

Hello, my partner and I have been diagnosed recently with reactivated EBV, which you discuss in this video. What I am wondering about further is Chronic EBV (CEBV) and also Chronic Activated EBV. My understanding is that the latter two forms are the ones that are going to lead to a terminal prognosis of cancer, MS, etc. Is this correct, and if so, can you comment back please? Also if this is correct can you tell me how one knows they have either of the two latter forms of EBV? Finally, our universal health care testing for EBV in Canada only shows active or inactive for each marker - they do not show viral load or any numerical values; are the numerical values important to know and for what reason? Thank-you in advance for your help... I am very confused and frightened as I have already been suffering many issues and symptoms with hypothyroid for 16 years, and there are no doctors in Canada who understand or treat this insidious virus who are covered by our health care, and being so ill I have been unable to work since 2014; I am getting worse.

I'm confused. My ebv titer showed negative igm, vca at 3.13, ebna at 2.74 and ea negative so that means not a reactive ebv just past correct? I've been trying to figure out why I've been sick for 3 years running so many tests. Some point to lyme, but Drs dont want to hear it.

If you've been sick for 3 years and things are getting better, it's important to look for toxic chemical exposures, heavy metals, and especially mold. Please check out my blog post here: www.attunemed.com/blog/could-your-unexplained-symptoms-actually-be-mold-toxicity/ I wish you all the best! ~Dr. Ashley
