Great questions! I'm glad to see professionals making Q & A content on the Internet! Medicine always seemed mysterious as I grew up-like a secret society- and I spent a big part of my youth reading an old B&W medical encyclopedia from the 1960's. Then my mom bought me a much bigger one with color plates. In college I did a premed degree and was inducted into premed honor society though I never went to med school. But medicine isn't everyone's obsession. And people need these questions answered while not paying $30 a visit to ask them. Thank you for being such a content creator.

Nope. In the US, there is massive misinformation on penises, even in medical school. Medical texts with the same titles have different images and text in the US version. Europe doesn’t circumcise, for instance, because it’s harmful and unnecessary. In the US, people ate cutting baby peen left and right and think it’s actually beneficial (it is not). I can’t post links on YT, but the ‘misinformation on genitals in US medical school’ has been studied and published. Same with the misinfo on the VERY profitable custom of cutting peens of non-consenting baby boys. His body, other people’s choice.

I read a "Life Hack" article (I can't remember from where) a while back which suggested that a stuffed-up nose could be relieved by firmly pressing the tongue to the front of the roof of the mouth for about 30 seconds. I was skeptical, but I have tried it and it seems to work. Is there an anatomical reason for this to work or is it simply a placebo effect?
@rootpower86642 жыл бұрын
I have read parts of a book that explains how certain body parts are connected (for instance you can touch your belly button and it'll help you pee). There are also other things, like touching the palm of your hands or under your foot that can help certain muscles in your body.
@Nightmare-fe9hr2 жыл бұрын
your tongue is full of blood vessels, and pressing it to the roof of your mouth will increase circulation, and heat up your oral cavity. This may help to relieve congestion, similar to a hot compress
@tabby_cat2 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but I think it might cause slight movement of the bones and cartilage that make up your face. Anecdote: I found that keeping pressure to the roof of my mouth with my tongue helped my jaws fit together better. After having braces, both my top row and my bottom row of teeth were straight on their own, but when I closed my mouth, they did not match each other, which meant that some teeth met, but others didn't. It didn't stop me from eating or anything, but it was bothersome. Keeping constant pressure every day with my tongue flat against the entire roof of my mouth seemed to widen my upper mouth cavity, so that I could eventually close my mouth with all teeth touching and no gaps. It did cause aches in my face at first, a bit like the pain you get with braces moving your teeth, but far less tender and painful. In a different area too, behind the nose and cheekbones instead of around the jaws. But then I am young and hypermobile, so moving things around might be easier for me.

@joywebster2678 Жыл бұрын
There are back braces, simple ones you can buy at a drug store that are like whiplash collar material, but a figure 8 that gent,y as you tighten it forces you to hold your shoulders back out of a slouch, slowly you tighten to pull more to achieve ideal posture. OR you can see a drcwho will sell you a much more expensive brace to do same thing. Plus exercises like standing against a wall and gently trying to stand with back ov your head and shoulders against the wall. Will take time to gain stretch.

One time I damaged my throat wall that caused me to vomit for 24 hours. It healed by itself by I did have to go to the hospital because I couldn't keep anything down and was very dehydrated. Because of the constant vomiting I had to take meds that cause the intestines to move faster to stop vomiting including sleeping meds. Since than my throat wall have been sensitive. Brushing my teeth can cause me to vomit. Taking meds too. Those headache pills are big and some meds I must swallow whole. Drinking carbonated drinks is a risky thing.

Hi there Dr. Wagner. I love your videos. I do have a question that I never thought to ask my OB-GYN. Sometimes after I reach climax, I get really bad headaches. Is that normal or should I see someone for that?
@Joreel2 жыл бұрын
Not an MD, but I can tell you that my wife has gotten bad headaches after climax more than a few times in the 27 yrs of marriage and her doctor told her it could be caused by a combination of the increased breathing, muscles in the upper back and neck tensing up(the arching) during the build up, and the chemical release that it causes in the body. She suggested trying to control the breathing and relaxing the arching reflex in her back and neck during build up to see if it helps and it did actually help to reduce the times it happened and when it did happen the headaches were much less intense. I don't know if this will help you, but its worth a try I guess.

Question: Will consuming spicy food on a semi-regular basis cause any long-term damage?
@Joreel2 жыл бұрын
It can depending on how hot the spices are and much is consumed at the time, but unless your eating really high level heat spices ie ghost peppers and above you'll probably be okay long term.

As a metalhead myself I can tell you that there is a technique to it. You're not banging in a nail with your forehead, but you're moving to music. So switch it up, get your core involved aswell, don't put all the strain on your neck. And always keep an eye on your clearance.

Exactly, and don't be too rough with your body. Headbanging isn't meant to hurt or strain your neck. You can lessen your movements if it's hurting.

Hey doc, I would be really cool if you made a video about Tom Brady’s diet to see if it’s really helping him

3:24 that reminds me of a funny mustache man back in the 1940's that only had one because the other one had to be removed

Dr Wagner love your videos. My question is: is it safe for a type 2 Diabetic to get lasik eye correction? Any long term damage possible?

Now I understand why my doctors choose not to listen to my concerns, misplace my lab results, phone in the incorrect medication to a pharmacy I have never used. And mail deliver the correct medication to an address that is not mine in a town I have never heard of. Social media is dangerous…. If a physician has time to post here, there is a problem…..

Too bad President Garfield's Doctors didn't know that it is usually better to leave the bullet alone.

I have a quick question. I can't burp, not really. I do this weird "hiccup" thing instead (instead of burping, I do this loud gasp), though my body kinda treats it like a burp (a la relieving gas pain)? I can breathe fine, no shortness of breath, it's just something I've done all my life. Is this a concern?
