Eri "Peace" Silk Cold Process Soap Making

Eri "Peace" silk starts out with the hatching of Eri silkworms. The silkworms feed off local castor leaves for about a month before building their cocoons. In contrast to other domesticated moths, the Eri moths leave their cocoon safely before their cocoons are processed. Because the silkworm moths escape alive before the silk is washed and processed, the silk that is produced is known as “peace silk”. Here, my favorite soap recipe is made with a generous amount of Eri Silk. The resulting soap is extremely smooth and has a wonderful lather (see the end of the video for a demonstration of washing with a fresh bar). Peppermint Essential oil is added to the soap It fills the air with Peppermint scent and cools the skin as you wash.

1. 12 oz Organic Coconut Oil
2. 12 oz Organic Olive Oil
3. 10.1 oz of Organic Shea butter
4. 9.1 oz of Filtered Water
5. 4.8 oz of Food Grade NaOH

1. 1.2 oz Peppermint Essential Oil
2. 0.3 oz Organic Jojoba Oil
3. 2 TBS White
Colors:
1. 1 tsp Sahara Gold added to 2 oz

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback, boop!💝 I think one of the reasons most people don't use Eri Silk is that they don't know about it. When you search on the internet for "silk for soap making" it mainly shows Tussah silk and never (that I've seen) does Eri Silk get listed. Even on Amazon, if you search for "silk for soap making" no Eri silk comes up. Maybe that will change over time if more people start to use it. Personally, I love it. It is top quality and very very soft. I think it makes a wonderful additive to the soap.

Can u use lye instead of silk?

Hi, if you mean can you make this soap without silk the answer is yes. The silk is an optional ingredient and you do not have to add it. The soap will still be very nice.
