Originally from the 1969 album, " Blind Faith", their only album while remaining together for a year. Written and sung by Winwood, the band has created a legacy that lasts to this day, largely due to this song. Clapton's style of playing the guitar gave this song a beautiful unique sound. Rumored to be about friends he had lost due to drugs, the guitars perhaps remain somber to show Winwood's pain. Beautiful to hear this more recent version showing they still mesh musically perfectly. Great time in music. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and David. 👏👏 Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦

Steve is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, producer. He did everything for his solo album Arc Of A Diver. From Wiki: "Steve Winwood - lead and backing vocals, Prophet-5, Minimoog, Yamaha CS-80, Hammond B3 organ, Steinway piano, Ovation acoustic guitar, Fender Stratocaster electric guitar, Ibanez mandolin, bass guitar, Multimoog (also used for keyboard fretless bass), Hayman and Ludwig drums, Linn LM-1 programming, percussion, producer, engineer, mixing." Keep On Running was Spencer Davis Group's first hit in the UK and Steve was singing lead at 17. Check out the video from 1966! He's also playing guitar on that one. He's a musical prodigy, learning several instruments as a very young child (4-5 years old).

Thanks for stealing my thunder and saving me from typing all the details. One question: "Keep on Running"? Do you mean "Gimme Some Lovin'" (which rhymes)? I was in 7th or 8th grade when that one exploded into the U.S. from Spencer Davis Group, and nobody who I know who was around then would say it wasn't Steve Winwood's breakout hit in the U.S. with the SDG. "Can't find My Way Home" is usually considered the standout track from Blind Faith's only album back in 1969 = Clapton and Ginger Baker from the Cream breakup, Winwood post-Traffic, and Rich Gresch on bass. One more nugget of ancien Boomer memory if it serves correctly, Traffic's later album "Low Spark of High Heel Boys" was I believe recorded after the departure of guitarist Dave Mason. Winwood played almost every instrumental track on that LP with the addition mainly of traffic's woodwind and brass player Chris Wood? Stevie may have even played drums on that album along with guitar and most everything else.

Yes, he has such a stellar career! I definitely mean Keep On Running! People in the US seem to not know that one and only know the two others that were big hits over here in the US. It was their first hit in the UK- came out in 1965 making him 16 I believe when they recorded it. We didn't discover them until they did Gimme Some Lovin' and/or I'm A Man in 1967. Everyone recommends those two and they're fantastic but I prefer Keep On Running. Seriously, check out that video! He's incredible :) It's black and white, and he's singing and playing guitar. Evidently he started learning to play instruments at the age of 4!@@kikovazquez7277

Steve is a instrumental genius, playing a long, long list of different instruments. And yes, a fantastic guitar player. When one is invited to join Clapton at his Crossroads Festival, and you're on stage with Clapton and he hangs back and lets you take the stage, guitar in hand, you know you are an excellent guitar player. Now you need to watch Steve and Eric do "Dear Mr. Fantasy" at Eric's Crossroads Festival. Steve really shows his guitar chops on that tune!!! Since there are two different versions of Steve and Eric and "Mr. Fantasy" at the Crossroads Festival, I've put the link here for the one where Steve really lets it out on guitar... kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ7SfWCnjaala9Esi=p7nC0psDydNkI3EJ

Winwood was always an excellent Guitar player, as well as Piano and Organ. He'll play Bass as well if need be. Winwood is playing most of the Instruments on the "John Barleycorn..." album, although Capaldi and Wood obviously chip in throughout. "Stranger to Himself" is pretty much just Stevie on all Instruments. Listen to his solos on "Every Mothers Son" or "Many a Mile to Freedom", hes not messing around!

This song was first recorded by super group Blind Faith which lasted for a few months during 1969. It consisted of Eric Clapton, Steve Winwood, Ric Grech and Ginger Baker. Despite only lasting for a few months the band did release an album and did a summer tour. I guess you could say this is their most famous song covered by many.

So this performance is from the Crossroads Guitar Festival in 2007 Clapton had done a number of these. I loved the way Winwood had this smile on his face and nodded saying 'we killed it' A young Derek Trucks and Doyle Bramhill doing Guitar fills. This version is better IMO that the original from 1969. At this same show Winwood did a version of 'Dear Mr Fantasy' Where he is playing guitar with out the other guitar playing his solo work is fantastic, you will be amazed. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJ7SfWCnjaala9E
