Yes this is the camera rehearsal. With the live audience Eric says, “See if can spot this one….” before the opening chord. I have the DVD of the MTV concert. Strange, their are no uploads of that iconic Layla performance. This was tremendous resurgence and success for Eric. Quite a delightful surprise for everyone!

@@Zerkclash heavy copyright protection. I tried to copy the DVD on Toast for Mac-to mp4, no success. I have an excellent DVD ripper program, that just recorded a file of files that would not translate or open. For some reason Warner made this bulletproof. Only way, would be to play the DVD and videotape the screen with a camcorder or iPad, but there would be a sync delay. Come to think of it, it was hard buying the DVD anywhere online a few months ago. Sad that it can’t be shared on KZbin.

Yeah, I thought this was a different take. I was looking for one of the three mistakes I've ever heard Eric make when playing live, in over 50 years of touring, and it was a note he completely stubs on the original solo, and I couldn't find it here. I had to listen close to recognize it wasn't the original.

I was working at an Italian family diner in Niagara in the late 80s and the guy controlling the stereo played the original Layla over and over. I had no idea about the story behind Layla. Now, I know. I could not listen to this song 🎵 again for years. I have always adored Clapton’s guitar playing. He remains one of my favourite musicians. I like Walking Blues, Alberta and Running on Faith. Happy & Merry everyone from an island 🏝 of my own during years of dissent.

Every Layla solo on guitar on youtube is wrong. What Clapton does is not the same solo you teachers on youtube are teaching.
@switch.85365 ай бұрын
There are many different versions of the song performed by clapton and this is one of them. The solo that most of the YT tutorials teach is the one from the live version of this MTV unplugged, in this video what you're wat hing is a rehearsal and as we know, the solos played by Eric are mostly improvised and that is what makes all the versions different.
@RobertoCichetti5 ай бұрын
@@switch.8536 The solo they teach is not the unpluged MTV version of 1992, its close but No! watch Clapton play that solo in 1992 and you will notice, cheers

I feel it gives a much more raw feel to the song. Almost like you’re sitting in the room with them while they’re playing it rather than listening to the album version
