Eric has always been very generous on stage. He never hogged the limelight. He delighted in giving other guitarists a chance to shine. He's not simply the greatest guitarist, he's also an absolute gentleman. Long may he reign.

EC the greatest guitar player of his generation. The most copied but never duplicated player of all. He has shown all that came after him how it should be done. I suggest to anyone who wants to understand the blues and EC to watch" Nothing but the blues" a documentary by Martin Scorsese and featuring EC in concert doing nothing but the blues. It is a master class on how the blues were meant to be played and sung. EC at his best. His playing is so good, his voice is often looked over. To me he sings and sounds like Ray Charles, and that's high praise! Thank you EC for a lifetime of excellence!

I'm not knowledgeable enough to say who's the greatest guitar player of my generation (I am a Baby Boomer). And I think those who post on here or anywhere else aren't either unless you have something on your resume that says you yourself know how to or have played with the very best. With that said .... I'll close by saying my "Top 5" would be .... Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Mark Knopfler, and Peter Frampton. And a name not as well known who I have enjoyed is a guy named Kal David who has played with some of the best. Check him out on KZbin for a taste.
