for those who do not know, Scotty Moore led Elvis's band from 1954 to 1968....Elvis asked him to go to Vegas in 1969, but Scotty said "No thanks, I'm too old to go out on the road anymore" and Scotty said "Call Ricky Nelson's old guitarist, James Burton. He'll build you a band."

For those who do not know Elvis' swiveling hips led Elvis' band just ask DJ Fontana on drums as DJ used to play strip clubs where his beat of the drums was led by the strippers gyrations. John Wilkinson rhythm guitar in Elvis' TCB band from 1969 to 1977 wasn't brought in by Burton - from Rolling Stone " Wilkinson grew up in Springfield, Missouri, watching Presley perform on television. In 1955, when he was ten years old, Wilkinson snuck into the star’s dressing room before a concert at Springfield’s Shrine Mosque and berated the King for his musicianship. “You can’t play guitar worth a damn,” the boy said." Elvis remembered that moment and hired John in 1969 per John. Ronnie Tutt Elvis' drummer was chosen by Elvis during a tryout. Sam Phillips of Sun Records was called by Elvis prior to the 1969 shows as Elvis asked for reassurance from Sam that he had his band set up accordingly for the ideal sound Sam said yes.

It was so cool that Eric bowed out on lead guitar for Scotty. Shows class. 2 legends here.
@s.t.31813 жыл бұрын
Of course he bows out for Scotty Moore! He played and help ignite the fuse that got rock and roll to explode. Nothing Clapton or any other guitar player can lay claim to that! He should have kissed his hands!

It's only right Scotty takes the lead. He wrote it!

BULLSHIT! Arthur “Big Boy” Crudup wrote and recorded the song before Elvis! More “fake news” that relegates black artists to “non-people” 🤬

Ah c'était le bon temps, celui de ma jeunesse, le début des années 60, où nous écoutions les tubes d'Elvis. Quel bonheur.

I met Scotty a fair few times. Once I was leaving a club down the stairs and Scotty walked in by himself in a raincoat and I just thought to myself how cool is this, I shook his hand and thanked him for coming, a few minutes later I returned to the club naturally 😁

Scotty is criminally underrated - and a great guy too. I met him twice and he was as gracious as could be.

Agreed, I was fortunate enough to as well. And got a 40th birthday postcard signed by him and DJ that my Mrs got them to sign without me knowing.. treasured!

Amazing that this man wrote all those incredible Sun solos... some of them pretty much on the fly. If Sam Phillips hadn't got them on tape they'd probably be lost forever. Scotty's sound really was as important as Elvis' vocals. The two plus of course Bill and later DJ truly were the sound that changed music.

And Elvis never wrote one song
@RhiannonFan5 ай бұрын
@@michaelthorne5441 Neither did Luciano Pavarotti - but he was still a world class singer
@joeblack89153 ай бұрын
@@michaelthorne5441 Neither did Sinatra, Garland, etc. What Elvis did was interpret another people's songs, whether they were covers or those written for him, like no other. The Beatles wrote their own songs but couldn't sing to save their lives. Either way, it doesn't matter, so why use such pointless bullshit to have a pop at Elvis? Nothing against Scotty - and I can't imagine those early solos by anyone else - but no-one would have heard of him if it were not for his association with Elvis.
