Dayum. Never heard this rendition before. Katie's voice is angelic - a wispy falsetto - reminds me of Sarah McLaughlin and Dolores O'Riordan. She said nothing and everything all at once. Wow.

This is one of the most beautiful, romantic songs written. Every time I see this live it gives me the chills especially with the sweet guitar solo and his back up singer. What more can be said from a man to the woman he loves? Just perfect. Thanks Jamal for posting this one. Hope it stays up!🧡

We've seen him live 4 times Each concert was masterful. I ttook my mom who was in her late 70s to see the Nothin but the blues concert also. She loved it. We had floor seats fairly close towards middle. Alberta, was her favorite song he did that evening. Great memory. He is my favorite I believe .

Jamal, this is a true story. He was waiting for his wife, Pattie Boyd, to finish getting ready to go to a party. She thought he was going to be mad at her for taking so long but instead he was writing this beautiful song. Pattie was a top London model formerly married to Clapton’s best friend, George Harrison.

I got to sing this song with a band about twenty years ago and it was a memory I'll never forget. The dance floor filled up, not because my singing was so good, but because the song resonated with the people, and for a few minutes I felt the magic, the wonderfulness of it all. Thank you, Doug!

Eric was not a "natural" singer when he was young. He was encouraged by Delaney Bramlett to sing; Delaney gave him his first lessons. This was about 1969-70. Eric complains now that his "pitch was too high" especially on "electric Layla." After his return from his drug induced hiatus, Eric got serious about singing. "I Shot the Sheriff" didn't require outstanding vocals but it revealed to him that he needed professional training. He engaged with music teachers along the way; his best 'practicing' occurred on his endless tour dates in the 1970s. The best way to learn how to sing is to sing a lot, which he did at every concert. By the middle of the 1980's, Eric's voice matured into the one that performs Wonderful Tonight so brilliantly. All through the 90's I thought his voice sounded deeper with greater range. He remained in top form until 2015 when he discontinued his world wide tours. Today, our old friend's voice isn't as strong or melodic but no less passionate as he approaches his 80th birthday in 2025. His legacy is firm; a great guitarist willed himself to become a great singer. That dedication to his art and his craft are the foundations of his career, and, why so many millions of people appreciate his work so much.

As mentioned by others, Katie Kissoon making a great song, better with her brilliant vocal. For the folk who are unfamiliar with Katie's career, here are a few highlights. 1975 - Sugar Candy Kisses ( singing with her brother Mac) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qIC8ipmgjKd3kNU 1979 - Singing with Van Morrison - Moondance kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5rRlKx9gZh3qNE 2000 - Singing with Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) - Mother kzbin.info/www/bejne/e2W4gnWaedCcaqM 2003 - singing with Robbie Williams at Knebworth - Kids kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3iTeWiLjZyqqKc Fun fact, Katie went to High School with Phil Collins, through her friendship with Phil is why both Katie and Tessa Niles (blonde backing singer) began working with Eric Clapton way back in 1986. Katie still singing with Eric when he toured USA in 2022. Katie in the green dress at Madison Square Garden singing "I Shot The Sherriff." Paul Carrack on keyboards and Nathan East on Bass kzbin.info/www/bejne/in7Qdnl7qqxpe7M.

Funny/terrible story about this song-- I was playing in a cover band, & said something funny to our bass player during the guitar solo -- He cracked up so hard, that when it was time for him to sing the third verse, he stepped up to the mic, and laughed all the way through, he just couldn't regain his composure..ended up with the whole room laughing together...🤣🤣
