Andy is jazz on a skateboard. The mark of excellence is when you can throw structure to the wind and entertain, something that is truly special and extra-ordinary. I've got nothing but love and respect for someone who throws down like this in a comp where muscle memory and perfection take the front seat with a lot of stress and self stress. You can tell he's doing it for the crowd and having the best time of his life, a stark contrast to some of the others.

Wasn't really a fan of Andy's skating but he kind of won me over here. He's what skateboarding needs ppl who are just having fun and are creative but rip too. Reminds me of 80s skaters like Gonz or Natas. He can do creative tricks but he can also do modern stuff like back tails and huge fs flips. He embodies the essence of skateboarding which is having fun... Why we all started in the first place.

What’s really exciting is everyone is different, yet sick in their own way! I believe Andy Anderson gets a lot of hype because he’s always doing something different despite his usual approach to runs. It’s like he’s improvising, but not simultaneously since he does have an order of tricks for his runs. It’s hard not to be hyped for everyone!

Sometimes I find these contests better then big mainstream contests, people try bigger more risky tricks cuz Not as much at stake, like say a for a 🥇 people are most likely gonna only do stuff they know they can land 85% of the time or more and don't see as many crazy attempts or tricks imo!!! I grew skating in the “fuck Andy McDonald” era. Clean cut, pads, innovative but (not my words) boring and not explosive. I’m glad to see we’ve come so far. It’s made skating better. You can be a Jamie Thomas, a TNT, a Natas, a koston, and don’t have to live or die by that label. You can use everything.
