Dr. O.; Thanks for the tour of the newly begun project! I have a graduate degree in adolescent developmental psychology; and I can say YES, you've lost your mind. I too have lost my mind. It was in 1996 (when I was young and pretty) after a substantial financial windfall I bought a brand new 1996 Grand Cherokee Limited; but with the 6 cylinder. ...And all the skid plates a boy could ever need. A grand snow vehicle. I was a city/highway boy, so my Jeep was more of a vehicle to get to historical, archaeological sites, triathlons, road races, or mountain bike events. 23 years and 240,000 some-odd miles later, one of our kids drives it in and around the swamplands in The South. Thanks for the great memories while you enjoy the process...!

Great Jeep that you were able to obtain with Wyatt’s able assistance. I appreciate the list of things you had to check out and fix on a car this old. Even though it has no rust and looks great, it helps to know that there were still quite a few things that had to be done to make it a daily driver, things that would typically have to be done on any 17 year old vehicle that one bought, no matter how good it looked or drove. Thanks for just telling us about it, instead of videoing ever step - most of us look forward to the “good stuff.”

Took me 7 WJ's up in MA till I found one rust free. I daily it with 4.0L with quadra drive limited trim and it bad on gas but wicked in the snow, was cheap to buy and own and with a small lift and good bf goodrichs rugged terrains tires it looks good imo. Yea they can have electrical problems, but its nothing more than replacing a few sensors, its quite reasonable matinence for a 15yr old Chrysler, just find a good one haha.

It’s funny how mechanics like us hate to work on our own cars. But when we get something new to us we have no problem working on it. You have put a lot of time into that Jeep already and now all these new parts. It’s gonna look nice when your done. I just bought an 06 Grand Cherokee for my wife to drive back and forth to work with a blown motor. Customer didn’t want to put engine in and I bought it for $400. I rebuilt a junkyard motor and putting it in next weekend.

I've only had 3 experiences with Jeeps 1) family car when I was a kid. Total lemon. 2) friend's now. Rides and handles like a brick on cheap parts. 3) a 2019 I got for rental. Not bad, but seat sucked and my rear end hurt after just a 1.5 hour drive. In short, Jeep can stay in it's lot as far as I'm concerned.
@Negentropy3693 ай бұрын
That's funny about the seat, I had one of these WJs, a 2000 Limited with the V8, and it had probably the most comfortable drivers seat(never rode or sat in any of the others lol) I've ever had in a car. Unfortunately I lost it last winter, lost traction into the other lane on a 2 lane rode, and a big Dodge was right there waiting for me before I had a chance to correct. Anywho, yeah, I LOVED those seats.

I just bought a 185K 2001 WJ last month, and I need to do a lot of those "piddly" maintenance things that we do when we buy a used vehicle, so I am biased, and I completely get what you're saying about not wanting to risk your channel getting bogged down on a single vehicle, but having those videos available on Patreon would have made me a subscriber to your patreon (would have been a first for me) instead of just a random donator via paypal. You're my favorite YT mechanic for a lot of reasons. Would have loved a detailed look at my car through your eyes (and skilled hands). Not trying to bust your balls, just saying it's something to consider in the future. Love your stuff sir.

By the way, I had a '94 ZJ with a 4.0L and the NP242 t-case. Had it on 31" BFGs and 2.5" lift. I also installed a Aussie Locker lunch box type locker in the rear. (I didn't tell anyone about that) When I went off roading there were a lot of sneers since at that time nobody offroaded a Grand Cherokee in this area. Needless to say the way it preformed surprised everyone. Man I miss that Jeep.

Hey young man; Your a huge help to a lot of people. I have been trying off and on since I purchased last Dec testing a crank no start NO Buss issues with my 1999 Durango 5.9 watching a ton of vids. All I have is a test light with some knowledge, however I am at a point where I am test confused and going in circles. Previous owner put in fuel pump and it ran for 67 miles and died. I have found and fixed damaged wires, solved issue with a crank sensor that last was put in wrong before he gave up on truck and I bought. It now cranks and will start with a shot of carb cleaner or a splash of gas. I have fuel pressure but no injectors function. In your vast network of knowledgeable buddies do you know of one close to me here in Fredericksburg Va that would come or I can tow to them that can get me over the hurdle? Of course I'll gladly pay for their time. Best; Tom

With air tools, it's a long afternoon job, maybe 5 1/2 hours, once you've got one or two under your belt. Takes longer to pull the evap./heater box and upgrade-repair the actuators and blend doors (evaporator if it needs you are right there after all) than pulling the dash and steering column. Helps to get the center console out of the way, and the drivers seat as well.. All in a days work when I worked for Jeep/Chrysler

You may want to pay special attention to having the underside coated to protect it, new york conditions will kill it in no time at all, just a thought before you bolt the bits on :-D

I think Eric is aware.... he should have Krown treated like he did his Tundra!

Nice WJ!! You never see them in that great of shape up here in AK! I've always had a soft spot for Jeeps...mostly because I cut my teeth as a mechanic working at a Jeep dealership in the 90's. ZJs and WJs are among my favorite of the Grand Cherokees...they're from a simpler and different time...and can easily be built up to have the off-road capabilities of a Wrangler. Like you, life happened...I no longer have any Jeeps, but I'm hoping to change that sometime in the near future. Thanks for sharing!

I notice we often have the same mindset from your videos. Like you I am a Jeep guy, true right now I am hunkered down to a Town & Country touring minivan sporting the kid around. House payments, and such. But one day again, I am going to get me another Jeep. I miss my Cherokee, as a Michigander it's the perfect auto really. Especially for camping. Something we love to do.

It's been a few years but that Jeep is clean! I've owned a 1946 CJ2A since I was 14 and still own it today at 64 years old.
