Love the 73. Last year with a chrome bumper and the first year with the 5 mile an hour front bumper.

Great job. I wish you lived close to me. I’ve been restoring my 73. I’m about to do an engine swap. It has the original block, not sure about the heads. I’ll hold on to them and rebuild it later. I love you channel. When I was younger I could wrench all day. Now I’d rather pay someone.

I always use the original distributor and swap in the Pertronix Lobe sensing trigger. Good, accurate, reliable, and simple. I like simple. :)

Great video Ben! The engine looks good, sounds good, and drives good. How can anyone beat a score like this?

I also use a 3 row with electric fans. You gain 15-30 hp and it runs so much cooler. Also.. You can install a thermal switch to run one or both fans for 5-10 mins after to stop the car. This prevents the carb from heat soak which is a terrible problem on the restarts when all your fuel gets boiled away from the heat soak. Also... An electric fuel pump near the tank will stop any engine lay downs during warm or hot weather as the fuel can change from liquid to vapor and under full throttle will cause the engine to lay down. You know when you have this problem because it never happens in cool weather temps. Big blocks are more prone to this as they make more heat.

Do some digging. Many labs test you will find say that Teflon tape has a excellent rating for use with gas. I put it on all taper pipe fittings. Give that manifold to a good welder and they'll fix it right up for the next job.

Just found this channel and it's really good. I've had a dozen corvettes, including 8 C3s. You obviously know your way around a corvette, but just 2 nit picks; covering a pinhole with a clamp? Really? The other is from personal experience; never use nylon line for the oil pressure gauge. I've seen them melt, which is horrible twofold. First, it seals the line so the gauge stills reads ok, while the other end spews your oil out rather quickly. I learned how to rebuild a sbc at age 20 when this happened...expensive lesson.

Did you get the water temp guage reading right? I have a 78 vette that the sending unit won't fit (or read correct with another sender) with the Dart heads I put on it, so I guess i'll have to get a machine shop to turn down the sending unit to the right pipe thread size.

I have a quick question, if you don’t mind me asking... When using a stock Quadrajet, is it typical for the idle speed screw to not have enough travel to idle low when using timing settings (significantly) more aggressive than what was stock? My cam card specifies a target initial timing of 14* BTDC, and I’m suspecting the transfer slots are not large enough to handle this much timing, as I’m seeing an idle RPM of around 850 with the screw all the way backed out. Idle mix screws are where they want to be, has a very nice strong idle, just a touch high on the RPM’s... Am I on to something here?? I have a nice Holley on the bench, just wanna make sure it is the carb before I commit to the square bore intake... Love your videos Ben! Greetings from your northern neighbors in Arkansas!

so if the master cyclinder is not for a 4 wheel disk car does that mean you get a ton of brake pedal travel and you have to push the pedal way down before it barely grabs? my 74 had that problem and I always wondered years after I sold it if the master cylinder was from the wrong car because my dad's 74's brakes would grab right at the top of the pedal travel.

How much did you, or would you have charged for that kind of work? I feel like I always get taken advantage of when I take my car in, just because it's a C3, mechanics think I have funny money or something.

Hey Ben I have a question I have a 89 Corvette and sometimes not always when I punch to the floor it kind of hesitates but it's not a constant hesitation when I punch it it goes but then it hesitates and goes and hesitates and goes kind of like that only when I'm pedal to the metal driving normally it will not do it I'm thinking it might be the fuel pump starting to go what do you think

It could also be a vacuum leak, the ESC or the ICM. I had hesitation like that on my 85 for years until a no start forced me to replace the ESC and the ICM (because I had a spare ICM) not sure which one was causing the no spark or the hesitation but after that they were both gone.

That's good to hear.... I've been looking @ a kit on Ebay, you get the 3 core aluminum radiator and fans for around $160 for my 74 Corvette. Thank you for all your videos..... They are motivating me to get mine back on the road. It's been sense 2010 and it's time to drive it again.
