holy cow, i was practicing this morning and was trying to add speed making sure i was still swinging in to out. I hit the shot fat and it hit as i was taking a few practice swings. Whenever I was trying to increase speed I would rotate my chest at the start without giving my hands time move. I was going through the masterclass to confirm my thoughts and found this video instead. Keeping my back towards the target and chest towards my right foot is exactly the cues I was looking for. Awesome stuff as always, wish I had found your channel sooner. The way you articulate your golf swing for hacks like me to understand and apply is gold.

Brilliant, Eric! You see most good players do this! Thanks for posting! This along with right wrist "maximum bend back" as you say, should put an end to those pulls and hooks that I am accustomed to! On it!

Awesome video. This is exactly what I was working on all year. Trying to keep the shoulders down and not opening up too soon. Doing that added significant power but did cause a steeper swing with larger deeper divots.

Thanks Eric I’m learning ST with Tom Saguto’s online school because ST is easy on my surgically repaired back. My analytical mind loves how you give actual numbers even if they’re only approximate because it’s easier for me to process then if you only give feels cause in my case feels are never even close to reals. This lesson is perfect for me because I have always been over active and out of sequence with my upper body. Thanks your channel is very informative and helpful

This is a very nice drill. I continue having issues with hip / shoulder sequence, right side bend, pulling left hip down and back, and trying to keep my arms quiet and pulling the club down from the top (on video appears to look like casting) but having 2 focus points like this video shows...clearing that left hip while holding the chest back over the right leg seems (in theory) to keep the sequences in better order for me.

It looks like I am not alone either the Hip shoulder dilemma. Eric’s video are about to pull me out of the darkness.
@absbica31

@@joetroupe893 Unless I'm incorrect in thinking this...it almost seems like in the first handful of moments in the downswing, your left hip and your right shoulder would experience a lengthening in distance between each other
@joetroupe893
@joetroupe893 3 жыл бұрын
@@absbica31 Bica, I am not so sure we have that much time between the starting the hip move an beginning the shoulder turn to feel that stretching or lengthening as you describe, although it sounds good. If you notice, sometimes it looks like the two independent moves, hips first followed by shoulders look almost instantaneous, which is what I am going to work on this afternoon at the golf course. I just hope I don’t embarrass myself. Just a thought.
@absbica31
@absbica31 3 жыл бұрын
@@joetroupe893 correct, there likely is not a stretching taking place and simply 2 separation events happening but the visual or swing thought I was going thru watching Eric's video and when I practice the move is as if there is a band connected from my left hip and right shoulder and I'm trying to keep it elongated in that initial downswing move. If that makes sense

This move is huge in the golf swing, I mean HUGE. Without it you can only be average at best. I have found this to be one of the most difficult things to time from day to day with the wrong swing thought. For me you have to get away from the hips controlling the downswing too much. It’s feet to head winding up and then back down. You have to let the shoulders unwind first before you get to the hips. Everything is so much better when you do. If you do this right it completely eliminates the pull down and therefore maximizing your speed and centre hit ability. Thanks

How does the shoulder tilt concept apply to your driver set up? Given that you like to set up with a slight shoulder tilt toward your back foot, therefore starting with your right shoulder below your left.
@CogornoGolf
@CogornoGolf Ай бұрын
Hey! So In the backswing our goal is to always replace our forward bend at setup with side bend in backswing So if we are bent over 30* we want 30* tilt......etc Driver we stand the tallest so will have the least amount of tilt in backswing Slight right side bend at setup replaced with left side bend in backswing to keep inclination to ground The reason you dont START with level shoulder or left side bend is your shoulders would be to open/grip too weak. Thats the mistake the highest handicappers make. Hope that helps

apparently the shoulders start in about a second after you lead off with your hips. My problem seems to be moving my hips to fast and they are almost 45° Left before my shoulders start. I know that is not right. From this lesson, I feel I must not be so fast on the Hip turn. Thanx.

I like Eric's content, but using a pro as an example, may not be the best way to try to get us weekend warriors to improve. Adam Scott probably puts in hours a day, for years, while we maybe play 18-36 holes a weekend.

Aren't you really talking about separation of lower body (hips and legs) from upper body (chest and shoulder) from the top of back swing to start the downswing? Whew - the video very detailed discussion whose main point is very hard to grasp. Too many things to think about so one can not see the forest for the trees though in and of itself otherwise accuarte.
