Bender being a penguin dad is actually kind of adorable.

Also, penguins being naturally good dads is zoologically accurate. Even after Bender’s mode was switched back, the instinct was too strong to resist.

I love Katey Sagal as Leela. Leela has a hostile side to her, but also a very sweet, loving side when she's gushing over how adorable certain animals and creatures, et al, are. Katey really brings that out with her voice acting, and is one of my favorite all-time voice actors.

You probably didn’t notice but this is the second member of the Waterfall family! The first one was in “The Problem with Popplers” which was Free Waterfall Jr. This episode being his father, Free Waterfall Sr. Each episode one appears in they die at the end (one of my favorite running gags on this show) so be sure to keep a look out for other members of the Waterfall family in future episodes!

Shoutout to Johnny2Cellos on KZbin because that’s where I found out about this phenomenon. Or maybe it was the DVD commentary? I forget lol. Either way definitely check out Johnny’s channel for cool in depth Futurama analyses!

Seems to be riffing on Exxon Valdez spill. Allegedly the captain had a drunken collision, though some say the Exxon Shipping Company was scapegoating him. I think You’re Wrong About did an episode on it.

Fun fact, the leader of the protestors is related to (presumably the father of) that hippie from the Popplers episode.

It is a joke, but reality is that there is real temperature (where absolute zero is absolute).. but then there is perceived temperature (based on how hard it would be for us humans to endure the temperature) where wind, and air humidity will affect how cold it actually "feels" (We don't have an actual thermometer sensor in our body, we just feel how quickly we lose heat).. so.. yeah.. Absolute Zero without wind should take our body temperature away much slower than absolute zero in gale force wind, so.. below absolute zero does at least.. "make sense" from the narrative... Of course it wouldn't matter as we'd be dead either way.
