I love the Captain Ahab story and all the ways they mix old timey sailing with space travel. Also, for some reason I really love this line. 5:25

There are two ways a ship could anchor itself in space. One is by using grappling hook like devices to physically grab onto a celestial body. The other way would involve some kind of hyper advanced gravity manipulation technology which could allow a ship to anchor itself in position wherever it is.

'Möbius Dick' came out in 2011 so Isis would just have meant the Ancient Egyptian goddess rather the terrorist group ISIS which only became globally famous under that name in 2013.

I'm not sure what the deal is with the Bermuda Triangle IRL, but I have heard it's one of the few places on Earth where a compass points true North instead of magnetic North. Even if that's only like, one degree difference, if you're navigating with a compass and dodgy maps, that would be enough to get you off course and sail into a reef or something. I think the last disappearance in the Bermuda Triangle was like, 1983 or something, so basically, since we've had GPS, everything has been fine. Also, news back then was slow and unreliable, a ship going missing would've made news, but they didn't always follow up. If the ship arrived at port a few weeks late for example, or was blown off course and docked in a different harbour, the newspapers might not know about it or print it, so the ship would be listed as missing when it was just delayed.

Did you play name that ship in the ship graveyard? (all the oldies from old shows/movies are there plus Dr. Who).
