I don’t know whether to believe this or not. If it’s true I’d be gutted. Despite this being our worst season (statistically) for a very long time, this is the most positive I’ve been about the club’s future since Fergie retired. Yes we’ve had better league finishes before, but it always felt like our squad was 3 or 4 years behind and anyone coming in would need that much time to turn the ship around. It would probably need to get worse before it got better and United may have to drop out of the European places if that’s what it took for the greater good. That was the view of the so called experts. And here we are. Ten Hag and the club have begun that process and are definitely going in the right direction. Another transfer window to get rid of the remnants of old, bring a few more hungry players in and we are without question in a much better position to make a challenge next season. We must stick with this manager or we will set ourselves back another couple of years with no guarantee of even getting back to where we are now.

Why should they? Football is a business, you know. Shrewd businessmen would only invest in a venture if they believe based on evidence that a profit is guaranteed. In the case of Man Utd, what proof do they have from this season that Erik ten Hag will correct the many issues of the side and compete to win the league in the following seasons? He isn't trusted enough and there are lingering doubts hence why they can't come out to announce he'll be head coach for the following season. Even if he is retained for the following season, which is a possibility, INEOS will be doing it on a wait-and-see basis amongst other reasons, so it'll likely be an extended audition to for the job.
