I love the look of a sailboat more than a catamaran. One has classic good looks and the other reminds me of a house boat. Could be great in some situations but sailboats like yours rock!

Agree 100% I just can’t be exited about the cats. But I really see the benefit for family sailing if you have the money 💰

I think the same. But people now want easy sailing. Greetings from Mauritius.
@Coleen_West7 ай бұрын
@@nasseemmuttur778 ...plus the thin build of Cats is dangerous in most situations. They are down to a single layer of fiberglass on each side of foam and this cracks very very easily. Especially when the deck is glued to the hull and not glassed (see this weeks episode of Parlay Revival where the deck peeled back several feet while sailing - could have been a fatal sinking).

@@erikaanderaa did you see the Sailing Uma video regarding this adventure? The man who coordinated the event was chatting with Kika and Dan, and his comments regarding you were really funny!! He was listing some of the sailors who were invited and really lit up when he said, “We even invited a Viking, I guess a real one! He’s 6’4” and a real beast! I’m afraid of him!!” Hysterical, OMG. They reassured him you were a nice guy. 😂😂🤣 Well, I thought it was funny I guess. You looked like you all had a really good time, but I was disappointed that Sam Holmes was left out. 👍💪👊 Thanks. I have been lucky that my brother and quite a few of my friends have had sailboats and smaller sailboats since I was a young teenager. So I've sailed monohulls "always". BUT my brother bought a 50-year-old catamaran in Chithester England, and we then sailed it home to Denmark. Over the English Channel, and through the Kiel Canal (Nord-Ostsee-Kanal (North Sea - Baltic Sea Canal), formerly Kaiser-Wilhelm-Kanal). I don't know.. The boat lies well in the water during sailing, so that coffee cups and bottles do not tip over on the table. Disadvantage is that it is not happy to sail upwind. So there needs to be tacking more often..

Utsira was stunningly beautiful. As was Silje! Those Fountaine Pajot catamarans are amazing. I've been looking at 38' catamarans for a couple of years now, planning for when my wife can retire. We'd probably move from Alaska to the U.S. East Coast where my family live, buy a catamaran and sail to BVI and the American virgin islands, from Miami, which is only about 50 miles. That's my dream! Loved the Selden single line furler for your new, good looking Rolly Tasker gennaker! Sure makes putting that thing away SO much easier and safer. That's important if you have to drop it quickly in a squall. You don't even need to go forward, until you want to drop the furled sail. I sailed a 38' catamaran about 900 miles 4 years ago from San Diego, California to Cabo san Lucas, Mexico. My first time on a 'cat' and like you, I too was impressed. I was on watch at 1am with the asymmetrical spinnaker up, doing 11-12 knots! Just flying downwind! But it was nearly too fast so I dropped the sock on the sail and rolled out the gennaker instead. Speaking of squalls, they're common in the Caribbean and it looks like you got caught by one! Best to furl early. The radar should show you the rainfall coming your direction from those squalls. I'm doing a 220 mile race around one island here in S.E. Alaska, this June. The island is called 'Admiralty Island'. That's how big Alaska islands are! I've done this race 15 times. We stop at Baranof Warm Springs and soak for a couple of days in the natural hot springs. Am taking my Catalina 30 and two good friends, so I'm working hard on the boat right now. seasailing.us/AIR2020 Great video my friend. Looking forward to the next one to Up Helly AA!

Erik, I had very similar issues with my top down furling gennaker. Adding a Selden tack swivel did wonders for me along with practice. My boat is a The S&S Tartan 37 so it's very similar to Tessie. I fly my gennaker solo or short handed as well. I highly recommend the tack swivel.
