I'm surprised on the CFE223. My 308 and 175 gr loves it and it is a barn burner speed of a load. It is very temp sensitive. Here in Kentucky the temp swings alot. Especially this time of year. Today it is around 50-54. Yesterday 30-32 and day before 21, 10-14 at night. My other set-up is 6.5 need with H4350, but that CFE223 load is tough on whitetail. Edit: These were some good shooter's, in that wind. Excellent video as per usual Eric. Keep'em coming!

Another good episode, Erik! Tough in that wind for sure!! I wanted to let you know, I had MGM make me a KYL rack and I got it set up on my place last weekend. I have decided to take your idea here and up the difficulty for my version. I have a PRS Skills stage prop built that I keep at my 500 yard mark on my farm. So, for my version. Start standing then drop to prone on the left of the Skills prop and go for the 12, once you hit, move to the first position on the wall and move to the 10. Hit to move, but moving targets also means moving positions. 4 positions on the Skills wall for the 10, 8, 6, and 4 inch. Then drop to prone on the other side and try for the 2 incher!! I think this will make it quite a bit harder having to move and get the heart rate up and going. Let me know if you ever want to come to Oklahoma and show me how it's done!! I tried it Monday evening right at sundown. Between the cold wind and darkness, I started well and missed at the 4 inch. I will try again in the daylight and see if I can get it all the way through. You are more than welcome to come try my iteration of your challenge, sir!! Thank you for inspiring this. I am going to have fun and eventually make it down there to try yours. I just don't like to take off work, lol!! Have a great weekend!
@ErikCortina15 күн бұрын
This is hard enough as it is. Positional would make it almost impossible with a 120 second limit for anyone that has never shot PRS, and even for most that have.
@ChadKelly714 күн бұрын
@ErikCortina Yeah, it is gonna be tricky. I have a buddy here who wants to try. He has like 7 or 8 years experience on me. I have beat him a few times tho in matches! I think if we test it a few times, we can find a reasonable time limit. Maybe 3 minutes for no PRS experience, 2 minutes if you have done PRS matches and know how to move position properly and smoothly. Or it may turn into a 4 min/3 min after testing a bit more🤣 With Oklahoma wind, and the moving, those last 2 will become ammo eaters real quick I think!! I figure if I can get decent at hitting 4 inch and 2 inch in practice, plates during a match will become considerably easier!! Would love to have you up and try if the opportunity ever brings you to my area! I will be trying to get down to you sometime this coming year. I don't like missing work, but I need to do something out of town sometime. Matches and your challenge are the only things on my list of plans. Have a great weekend, sir!!

500 yards is no joke. Easy to hit a body but 2" Wow. Most hunting riles, the most accurate you can get at 500 yards is around 4-6 inch groups. And that's if you're a pro. A competition rifle and ammunition will reduce it, but not likely to a consistent 2". The winner of the money if any is going to require some amount of luck.

@ thanks Erik! Me and my friends are big funs of these videos, a lot can be learned from how shooters are navigating from target to target. From our side we have a small suggestion - would you consider to display wind speed and direction during the video ? That would made the show much more interesting to watch- how much impact the environment has on shooting.
@gusloader12315 күн бұрын
To Erik Cortina and/or the Range boss: I think that a few times the shooters did hit the target, even though the spotter(s) did not say "Impact!" but their bullet went through the previously made bullet hole in the target (usually the 3 smallest targets). If you and they are shooting for $5,000., then I suggest that you do what we did in the U.S.M.C. when we were in the Target butts downrange grading / scoring the targets: --- put a sticky patch (like a postage stamp or a peel away decal) over the bullet hole in the target after each shot. It makes sense that good shooters could actually hit the target exactly where the previous shooter had shot .... especially on the small targets.
@anselpedersen389215 күн бұрын
They are steel targets on rubber straps, not paper.
@ErikCortina14 күн бұрын
The targets are metal. There are no holes in them.
@gusloader12314 күн бұрын
@@anselpedersen3892 --- You could put an adhesive sticky over the bullet hole on the metal plate. It is a 4-inch or 2-inch target at 500 yards. It is very possible that one or more shooters hit the previous "impact" area.
@anselpedersen389214 күн бұрын
@gusloader123 @gusloader123 All the calibers these shooters are using have no problem making a 2 inch steel plate move with any impact. If paper was used, I would agree, but it's not.

I have a question. I watch several of these videos. And there's a handful of times where the load will get stuck feeding, and then they continue to use that same round. I’ll be honest, I didn’t see any edge hits on Erik’s run. I saw some black rubber get hit, and a black rubber edge get hit, but I truly didn’t see any signs of steel getting hit. The dense black rubber will throw the bullet a bit and also cause the target to slightly sway. In my humble experience.

@AverageDudeAdventures ---> Then you should have gone and shot there yourself with only one day to prepare if you are so good. I also Qualed "Expert" in the U.S.M.C. multiple times with metallic sights at 500 yards, and we dry-fired and practice fired before shooting for score. Wind and temperature can be very challenging.
