Hey man, craftsmanship it's a thing you learn with time. Your project is really nice! All of us builder struggle with getting it to the next level. There's a lot of people that like "not perfect" handmade pieces but I think you and me, and many others of course, want to hit that perfect build. Try over and over again, I guess! Keep it up!

Funny how you seem to be the only person who has attempted a kerfed speaker. I have watched this video a few times and from my previous kerfing experience decided and did bend a piece of 180mmx19mm pine 180 degrees at both ends to make something similar to yours :) I really want to make a custom face plate but dont own a thicknesser or jointer, so will look more into alternate methods. I have put mine on diyaudio. Love your work!

Sorry about the late reply, but the components I used are in the video description.

You did a good job. The only one thing is the foot base. I personally dislike it because it is just unmatch with speaker design. Anyway, you do something similar job and nice to see how you worked for it. Good luck.
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I agree. As I wrote in the video description the legs are too skinny and the cabinet too bulky.

Hi Erik, awesome and very nice project. How to service in case of failure considering that you've glued the face and back plate?
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын
+Rafik Ouzrourou thx! It is not optimal to glue both faces. Hopefully it won't fail :)

That really is a work of art. Could you add dimensions and parts list? How many slices per corner bend?
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think it was 11 cuts/corner. It is really important to get them evenly spaced. 42width 16height 29depth (cm)

I think this is an awesome build! Your craftsmanship is great! Also, you may not have the most tools that I've seen in a workshop, but I envy what you do have! I liked this video and part 1 so much that I put it in my "best DIY Bluetooth speaker builds" playlist!

hole saws are very expensive but you seem to have quite a few of them how do you get them? Also I see the amp you chose is dual voltage plus and minus voltage what power supply did you use?
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын
Yeah you are right. They can be expensive. I started with buying a kit with 5-10 different sizes, that is cheaper but the quality may vary. I did the same thing with my forstnerbits, I recently bought a kit from China and they are actually pretty sharp. I updated the parts list in the video description.

Very nice job, if I was being very critical I think the corners could have looked neater at the front, the notching could have been more tidy.
@Erikdidit4 жыл бұрын
I couldn't agree more. If I did it again today I would be more accurate or glued the front baffle on top instead of recessed.

Snyggt! Jag var inne och kika på Kirby och trilla in hit. :) Hur blev ljudet ur den? Behövde du ha något slags dämpning mellan benen och lådan?
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын

What glue did u use to glue the speakers in place
@antoniojrdz7 жыл бұрын
Elevier Beltran I think that was caulk to seal the connection between the faceplate and the speaker. This is done so that there are no air leaks other than the calculated port holes.
@Erikdidit7 жыл бұрын
yes, it was silicone

Overall this 2.1 is nice! But I only 1 piece of constructive criticism. I wish that during the design phase. That you would have addressed. Those visible kerf cuts that was needed to bend the sheet. There are a lot of ways to hide those cuts from standing out. Before you are done with the finished product. Wood filler, cut a rabbit around the back edge of the face, apply a collar to the front & back, etc.. I like your work, but craftsmanship does matter.
