That's what I love and admire about enfps. They are so wise and in tune with their own truth despite what others say. They dont try to force or even sell their beliefs to people they accept people for who they are even if they disagree with their actions or choices because they respect authenticity. They are independent thinkers and sincere in their opinions.

Well, that's the way it is. I pretty much sponge up lots of information via reading, watching people etc, and then let my subconsious brain play around with all that info and come to its own conclusions. The trick is to stop every now and then and simply sit and listen to your brain doing its work. Can be quite funny, too. So many inappropriate jokes. :P

Yes yes yes ! I never said that outloud to anyone before, except my INFJ best friend with whom i feel most understood. As enfps I noticed that we don't necessarily write down or logically sort things out, I've been this way since childhood, I'll be walking around the streets alone indulging in my perception of aaaaalll the Chaos of infos and ideas, and then TADA : An illumination, most of them were (of courses) about social theories. As I'm getting older, life becomes harder for us, since it's a senstinents and correct logic dominated word, but I never ever could have even consider not trusting my intuition, even if lately everyone around me seems to push me toward not to. Keep investigating, day dreaming and being authentic you ENFPS. With love and compassion.

INFJ here, I have an ENFP partner (suprising much) and I can definitely confirm this. Sometimes I can honestly be so confused about his train of thought and even downplay his abilities to see underlying patterns, make links, basically understand what tf is going on. BUT time after time my doubt proves to be a huge misconception and then just after I've put up my slighty patronizing super-simplified way of explaining sth he comes up with a deep analysis and intelligent observations about what's been happening and what should be done next. I just feel like ENFPs have a lot hidden under a layer of goofyness and big dreams. Maybe for me (and other INFJs) understanding a concept comes quite quickly and we're quick to make them known, basically coming up with deep thoughts but still in a fairly superficial level (makes sense?). Whereas ENFPs can sometimes be the real masterminds in the long run, on the condition that they succeed in keeping it together through all of the messy / dreamy / spontanious times they need before showing off their true findings and rational thinking.

I have been on so many sites that tend to just reduce the EMFP to this cartoonish character with little inner depth, especially in comparision to the INTJ in a relationship. It always bothered me because I see these and I wonder "Then what the hell is with this rich, although somewhat chaotic, inner world that seems to guide me well, that looks around at the world and sees all these layers and possibilities that exist and want to experience each one." I just wanted to say thank you for setting the record straight. It can be so disheartening when a stereotype becomes the standard in people's mind rather than who someone is as an individual and how the world relates to them as one. You managed to shine some light on the subject and brighten my day with your insights. I appreciate that, so thanks again. Sign. ~An ENFP.

PowerRedBull your comment is very interesting to me, because I have a intp brother and he always tells me that I’m this weirdo funny type of person and that he finds me irritating, but sometimes he just comes up to me and tells me that what he loves about me is that I can make people smile and then he just stays in my room for one hour to show me memes and talks. I’ve always find the mind of the intp very interesting, you guys are true badasses and very interesting smart people. I don’t think you’re like a robot, intp’s have to have always a logical solution to the “problem” that is occurring and you see things as facts, rather than feel the things that happen to you, so I’d say when a emergency happens, you guys have always a chill mind and you guys are able to really help and take responsibility. Also intp’s have always random facts about things which I personally find fun and interesting to hear. Just a summary why I like INTP

I am an ENFP and what I believe you call "loving life" is true. I think it`s because we realized that as long as it is not very important to the future, we don`t stress things and try to make the most out of situations, I was depressed when I was younger and I got out of that by simply being hopeful that things won`t stay the same forever, things will change once I have some skills or independence. in general, we *love* exploring ideas and it excites us quite a lot. that also might be the reason we seem happy all the time, but trust me, we are not always happy and we have our own problems and stress issues, we often overthink things and get too serious as well.

You hit the nail on the head sir. As an ENFP, you're right in everything you said regarding our awareness of the only thing that is certain, is that nothing is for certain. Which is why we love simply experiencing this gift we have called life. Because we only get one as far (in theory). It's not that we all SHOULD be living ENFP personality types, but above all else what drives us is knowing every human can feel what we do. Because it's an incredible feeling to inspire others, even more so when you're not trying to. It's like he says. We don't need facts or data, it's just a feeling. We wish everyone could have it.

'When I was a child, I perceived the bizarre shapes of nature and inanimate objects not by observation, but by surrendering into their charm and their implicit language. Cracks and grass, oil stains floating on water, surfacing roots of trees, coloured veins in stone. I was enraptured by all of them.' 'Abandoning oneself to irrational, strange and complex forms of nature leads to a feeling of harmony between our hearts and the will that gave rise to such shapes. We make a simple yet fatal discovery: We realise the extent to which we ourselves are creators, our souls forever participating in the eternal creation of the world.' I've only just been getting into reading about MBTI.. but I laughed out loud when you said about the 'greater existential truth'. For the past couple of years I've noticed that certain people just 'know the thing' and I've had a secret joke to myself (which I've shared with only a few others) about 'THE PEOPLE WHO KNOW THE THING' and how none of us can say what the thing is without it losing some meaning, yet we can spot each other and are drawn to one another from miles away..

(I am an ENFP myself, and I have this sense that this so called 'secret' exists, and is both in and out there (in a sort of pan-psychic sense), that it can't translate into human language fully, but we can live it through our actions, on the way we impress ourselves upon our world, that we have to make peace with ourselves and our not knowing to live a good life and make positive change)

I’ve been dating more recently and coming across many new personality types. I don’t know enough about MBTI yet to type people, but I can see how some personalities immediately appreciate me while others (especially immature INTPs and INTJs, of the ones I have types for) condescend to me because I am bubbly and idealistic, and I take care of my physical appearance & like to look nice. But there is a lot beneath the surface, so I hope to find an individual like yourself, who gets & appreciates it! I also enjoy your accent and how you say your name SO fast, it sounds like a one, single-syllable word! :) I agree with another notion you had in a separate video, by the way, that you should speak about psychology, not just typology. I love psychology myself, and appreciate your insights. Thank you for producing great content, Erik! Keep it up!

As an ENFP I agree to most parts, yes I do believe there is a bigger design to the degree I can confidently say I know there is something else, a secret and yes I have researched so much and experienced so much also. The whole 1 life thing, yes I do agree that yes we are not to waste life, life is special, I would rather watch a good documentary than watch a soap, if something does not give me extra knowledge I will not watch. I am creative by nature and find it easy to come up with pioneering ideas, I should follow up on all my ideas though, but back to the point, the one life thing I believe to be false, we have been here many times before learning each time. we are part of a bigger consciousness and I am in touch with my spirit guides. I act and decide true or false in a split second, some think its destructive but the way I see it is leaving it longer allows your EGO to jump in and question it, a split decision is required to be intuitive. If you have a thought make sure you act within 5 seconds is my motto before the chatter talks you out. Thank you for the wonderful video :-)

Wow... This was so encouraging. I have always felt bad about needing other people to actualize myself and my thoughts. I would always think to myself "why cant you just sit and analyze your thoughts and create your own views and your own opinions from your own little head?! Why do you have to be presented with the thoughts and ideas of others to form opinions!?" So to see that you see that process and that you present it in a sense that portrayes it as a different but interesting and effective process is increadbly meaningful and encouraging! Personally I have begun to be VERY selective with those who I associate with because i am just so scared of others disturbing the peace and happiness I have found, so in effect i have become much more in contact with my introverted side. Its not the most natural or comfortable place for an ENFP (I'm %87 extroverted) to be but it is serving as a protection for now, and without the influence of others I am really discovering who I am, what I like, what I want for the first time in my life. But I do find myself really craving being able to bounce ideas and thoughts off of others and just simply observing and absorbing their thought processes and assimalating them into my own world view. But thats the good thing about being selective, at least when you do finally find someone you trust and are intrigued by they are worth it ☺ Thanks for sharing and for the time and effort you put into your videos it means a lot!

I just graduated from undergrad this fall and have found it so refreshing to be able to have my obligations and time fully focused on myself and not the hot mess that is undergrad life. I was missing the conclusion at the end where you said, "the good thing about being selective...," however. I think that's the missing piece in how I want to approach new people with the knowledge of people and myself that I've garnered thus far. My mantra of there's always something to learn in every period of your life just hasn't been connecting with the lack of energy(sometimes disdain) I developed with people in general recently. Thank you for reminding me that my selectiveness is not exclusionary, but rather a constantly improving way to sift through the experiences/personalities that can help me grow the best!

Carlo Noto love. Having sense of not knowing about going through different paths, looking for new outcomes, and making them happen. My father is a ENFP and he has given his life to Jesus. I ask him why seen I myself have my doubts. He told me because he listens. Straight to the point not like my dad. He said that when he was at his lowest doing wrong hurting others cause of his actions he didn’t look twice until he realized he was the one hurting himself and everyone around him. He looked back and wished he could change who he was and feels sorry for all his wrong. He didn’t know how to release everything he had stored in him so then he ask for a sign something he could feel and touch spiritually. For 10 years he waited for that sign never losing hope and only hope to see the outcome. Finally it hit him and he then search for meaning in Jesus’s word. He started going to church doing what he believe was right yet still obeying Jesus. He believed that he has to pay for his sins and turn them into something beautiful. The amount of people my dad has changed for the better and still sharing love for all. He believes that when you give you receive joy and happiness in return.

I agree with everything you said. As an ENFP everything you said is exactly how I've grown and developed and what I've come into. My only differention which will be the words that will aggravate some people, and encourage others, is that. Love is the Truth. But it goes deeper then that. Jesus Christ is the Truth. Now hear me out! Hes the one who laid it all out. He made it clear as day, what every ENFP is trying to get to the bottom of, through experience, reflection, connecting all the dots, honing it all together into a full and deep seated practical wisdom. Everything that we could ever know and hope to obtain to know. Jesus Christ laid it all out. Clear as day. Clear as crystal actually. Everything a true ENFP wants to get to the bottom of, Jesus Christ taught it and made it all clear. Fully. 100%. Love is the Truth. Because Jesus Christ is the Truth. And down at their core. You cant separate the two. So I am Christian. Not because of a religious fundamental dogma system I was raised to believe. But because my never ending exploration, search and discovery has lead me to believe that whatever the Truth is. He's the one who has it. Finding Him was like finding the Holy Grail of what I was searching for. So therefore He is the Truth. And through that world view so many more dots start connecting and they keep connecting and keep connecting and it gets brighter and brighter, things become clearer and clearer and everything starts making more and more sense. But, as an ENFP I am in no way promoting mainstream religion, fundamentalism or dogma. And as a Christian ENFP I obviously have a problem with these things being rampant in the church so much so that the church on many levels missed the purpose of what Jesus Christ represents and brought to the table entirely. But never the less. This is my conclusion. And as others have said its all about love. But no one. NO ONE. Had it all figured out and brought it all together. Like Jesus Christ. So for that. I follow Him, and as an ENFP who never marches to the beat of anybodys drum, He is the ONLY person I am willing to follow.

Emily no but you’ve got me hooked! What’s it about?? X
@Emily-rb4px5 жыл бұрын
@@evatoland1540 it's about a man's journey seeking wisdom, authenticity, truth. He tries many different paths and follows different teachings in his search for enlightenment and gains profound insights from each, but he knows there's always something more, so he keeps journeying. It's a short, easy but beautiful read and I can't recommend it enough!

Great book. Read it last year. First you try to see the world beyond the world and get no where(young peoples’ painful idealism). Then you fall into the world completely and forget there’s anything else(middle age’s jadedness and resignation). Lastly you just see the world truly and accept it(old, matures’ wisdom and solace).

No I know of some really intelligent ENFPs that have knowledge that will blow your mind and would love to sit down with them and discuss life the universe and everything with. I end up with INFP results on MBTI but I also share many ENFP qualities

Try Erik’s test it really helped me a lot. I thought I was INFP but to my surprise I’m enfp. What helped is to understand that though I have an E I’m still very much an I.
@candellina63 жыл бұрын
@Dancestar1981 I know exactly why you got that result. It is because ENFPs and INFPs have the same cognitive functions. The difference is that the two types have a different order in which their cognitive function stack is ordered. If you are confused by these maybe unfamiliar terms, I will explain: ENFPs' brains use Ne, Fi, Te, and Si as the way they make decisions, collect information, connect to people and the world, and reason logistics. You can look up these terms to understand the differences between ENFPs and INFPs.

Hi Erik, I initially thought I was an ENFJ, but was now moving more towards ENFP. Now that I've seen this, I'm almost sure. Also, I live in a (modern, Western) Zen Buddhist monastery and understand better why I feel so at home here, but also what to do to keep it interesting and fulfilling. Thank you so much for this!
@ErikThor5 жыл бұрын
It's an easy type to confuse because ENFPs are more practical planners and ENFJs more goal-humanitarians. ENFPs like to plan and make lists but often change things up.

I am an INFJ. My son and best friend are ENFP. I love them. I have some hard times with my son. But most of our interactions are joyful. I think he is awesome . I love my best friend dearly . They are delightful and they get my INFJ jokes with extreme surprise and lol that I love.
@dr.hebagadallahclinicalpha98715 жыл бұрын
And they make me laugh and think. I love their feelings and yearning to learn. I notice though that they get into rabbit holes of self pity and myrderdom more often. As they think that no one feels like them ever. And know one gets their feelings. I get their feeling. They can't imagine this. I think they are somehow right. Because they have very deep introverted feelings amongst the people I read.

Erik, you did a wonderful job describing the enfp. We are global thinkers who process patterns of information and behavior quickly. We are curious, empathetic, patient, and believe that we are all connected on some level. When you put all of these together, it creates a type of social and emotional wisdom. Too often the SJ’s have mistaken our fun loving, enjoy life side as a lack of maturity or intellect rather than seeing it as the confidence to be who we truly are without pretense or guardedness. Nice job!

Being an ENFP, I agree with much of what you are saying, but I do believe while there is a level of ideals that we naturally understand, but we do build upon those things with the understanding we gain through life. We do think best when we are experiencing new things.

I am often sought out for advice, solace, etc and many years ago I recall having been called ethereal, probably right on. Not today. I know exactly who I am. ENFP It always seemed that I had a "wisdom" to my personality, others knew it whether to appreciate or made them uncomfortable. Age 52 I had an acute illness and came close to dying, after that I felt within myself that that "wisdom" quotient had gone 3 times the depth and that was just where I am now. Still is.

This is why I think types like the INTJ really match the ENFP. The INTJ very much values independence and embracing the uniqueness of their own persona; they don't care what others think of them, because they view themselves from an internal perspective - the standards they hold themselves to come from the inside, not the outside. The INTJ can reinforce the ENFP's uniqueness and embrace it. This is why, I believe, these types are sometimes very highly moral people, because they are not influenced by the immoralities of the world. You talk about the INFJ, but I guess this type is very similar to the INTJ.
