In my opinion (nd just take as it is), Badu, compared to some Brasilian, african, Indian or rap master singers for exemple, have ok skills in rythm. She's fine. She's incredible in harmony, and her best talent is in the vibe, the little sensible magic marrying harmony and rythm. She shines there. By listening and relistening her albums, and then seing her live, you will see she bends harmony using quarters or eigths of tones on purpose. Because magic.
