From what ive heard the biggest problem with E3 this year is that no one new what was going on its 2 months away and no one new if it was even happening this time around.

While the ESA is right about the changing landscape of gaming, it still seems like those in charge did not do much to try and adapt to them. Hell knows too that the trust in the ESA was already at a low due to all the “self-inflicted doxxing” they pulled (and the costs to set up booths not getting any cheaper). But it did feel like they didn’t want to change in the right ways (while proposed changes would have steered the ship in a direction away from why people loved E3 to begin with). Fair to say Geoff has won the battle at this point, but now the question becomes if he can turn the Summer Gamefest into the next “E3.” After all, there are those who do hate Geoff’s show, and they aren’t just hating for the sake of hating. E3’s biggest draw was to connect with others, and at the moment, Summer Game Fest doesn’t really enable that. Maybe more into the future, but we’ll see how this year plays out.

E3 was always terrible and felt like 20-30 mins of games with 1-2 hours of unnecessary talking about completely non gaming stuff. Last I heard bout e3 before covid, was that they plan to show more KZbinrs, doing who knows what next to wasting your time, and business discussions with even less time for actual video games. If you actually attended e3, great for you, but vastly more ppl watch bits of e3 on youtube. The way Sony and Nintendo do it now is far better. Give me gameplay or trailer. Done.
