Escape The Phoenix Heat | Day-trip to Tonto Natural Bridge State Park near Payson, AZ

If you live in the Phoenix area - or if you're thinking about moving to the Phoenix area - and you've been searching for ways to escape the summer heat, then you should consider a day trip to the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park near Payson, AZ. This is a very short drive from the Phoenix metro, and you can enjoy the 20+ degree temperature drop that you get from climbing to over 5,000 feet of elevation.
The Tonto Natural Bridge State Park features a number of hiking trails that are all relatively short, but each one varies in terms of how steep and rocky the trail may be. There is also a paved walking path that gives you a nice viewpoint of the natural bridge area.
In this video we'll be hiking the Gowan trail to explore the cave that is created by the natural, travertine "bridge" that goes overhead. You'll see the beautiful waterfall that goes over the mouth of the cave, as well as a the small lake and streams you'll find inside.
