This video provides an explanation of how and why ESPN Boxing was factually incorrect on several counts of a graphic they posted in a recent broadcast involving the modern 4 belt era, and the number of men who have genuinely earned undisputed distinction during the modern 4 belt era.

In 2057 to be undisputed you will need the belt, the gold belt, the super belt, the franchise belt, the gold belt with diamonds, the super-duper belt, the belt with oak leaves and diamonds, the Hello Kitty belt, the Louis Vuitton limited-edition belt, a seatbelt, a piece of string belt, and a partridge in a pear tree wearing a belt (for all 17 official sanctioning bodies).

Haney dominated with the jab and not unsurprisingly given how much kambosos struggled with Selby's jab... but kambosos also really struggled with the size of the event. The pressure of the home crowd, big event... kambosos choked! He was fair too caught up in mouthing off and mind games, but he cracked himself! Not making Wright was the clearest indication. But trying to box Haney? Insane!

I think Teofimo should have been undisputed, I consider him that. Lomachenko won 3 belts, exchanged 1 for an equivalent belt according to the WBC, and Teofimo won the 4th. The WBC belt wasn't "Lost" in any traditional sense. He deserved that rating, as controversial as the Loma fight was, the fact he took him on at his age is something else.

To be the Undisputed Champion in the 4 belt era you need the following Super WBA World Title WBC World Title IBF World Title WBO World Title The WBC Franchise Title does not qualify as 1 of the WORLD Titles required to be undisputed champion thus Lomanchenco, Lopez, and Kambosos were not an undisputed champion and never were. They were missing the WBC World Title.

friendly reminder. Devin Haney is the first American Undisputed champion to do it outside of US soil in like the last 40+ years. if I'm correct the last american to do it was Marvin Hagler in 1980 when he beat Alan Minter in England for the undisputed WBA+WBC titles. Prior to that i believe it was Muhammad Ali and George Foreman in the 70s. Plus he's the youngest undisputed champion in the 4 belt era. It was a historical win on so many levels.

So my confusion comes from that if Lomachenko had beaten Lopez and won the IBF belt he would have been considered Undisputed by the majority of the boxing community. Lopez and Kambosos had to suffer the consequences of the WBC's actions because the truth of the matter is you are right. The "Franchise" Champion isn't a real champion because he doesn't have to make title defenses. The WBA and WBC are both absolute messes right now. I can tell you trying to truly understand the sport when you are first getting into boxing as I was 5 or so years ago, all this does is create more confusion trying to figure out all the champions were and who the lineal champs were and etc. It shouldn't be this hard.

The single belt system is the best for the sport, in its purety. It ensures at any time, that the very best fighter is holding that belt. Everyone else will be forced to fight each other on their climb to the top. There is no “going after the easier belt” route here. This would have the after effect of creating a whole new breed of fighters generations later, as the skill level would increase immensely. Then there’s the two belt system. Which I believe should be the max limit for multiple titles. This is best for the sport’s popularity. It creates a competition and a story line. “Who’s the actual best?! Find out when they fight for undisputed.” This system would open up the sport more, and make it nor friendly to compete in than the single belt system. Which would draw in a larger pool of fighters. Which draws in more attention from fans all around the world. The True Boxing fan in me yearns for a single belt. The Businessman in me who’d love to be some to talk Boxing casually as we all talk about Basketball, however, yearns for a Two belt system.

They need should just get rid of the extra belts this shit just makes no sense. Just one belt for each division from each major sanctioning. One WBC belt, One WBA, One IBF, and one WBO. It should be no more then that.

Also whenever I would try to get my friends into boxing they’ll they confused because there will be 5-6 “world Champions” in each division

Dude, Rummy, this video is GOLD. You know it’s gonna be a good one when it starts with, “I don’t know shit about boxing.” Lol. Plus, I loved the voice of the fat cat boxing exec. That was legit funny and made me legit laugh out loud.

Looks like those belts need more crafted quality, some nice real leather and stitching in its confection...needs to look representative. :)

I think it is a good thing to have multiple organizations for boxing, to give more exposure to talent that might not get it. But dang, come up with 1 or 2 unified World champ belts and make the rest just regular champs. For example, the WBO and WBC agree to have ONE Heavyweight world champ who wins the title after beating the other champ. That person retains their (lets say) WBO championship but is now also considered the World champ. The WBC champion would retain that title (minus the "world" distinction), until beaten by someone in a straight WBC fight. So kind of like in Afro-Samurai. You have a number 1 that can only be challenged by a number 2.
