For the 60s I have to go with the Ali (then Clay) 1st fight with Liston. With that fight Ali’s personality and skill not only allowed him to dominate the boxing world but all sports for that decade.

I think the second fight is the one that should have been put up. Probably the most controversial fight in history and is debated to this day.

yes, i agree. this is the one glaring error in this otherwise excellent video. both Patterson and Johanssen are really just footnotes in the history of boxing. Ali's reign, which began with the incredible upset of Liston, was much longer, and his effect on boxing and his skill set were much greater.

I think Bowe vs Holyfield 1 was the most significant heavyweight bout of the 90s, they were both in their absolute primes and in peak form.

Agreed. Bowe was a natural heavyweight, gifted boxer and talented athlete Holyfield was the epitome of what a man can do when he’s naturally undersized.

That’s how I feel too, his argument for Patterson was a pretty good one.. but Ali’s “i shook up the world” is one of the most iconic moments in sporting history. It has to be number 1 over Patterson’s two time champ achievement, especially because it’s been replicated plenty of times now.

I always equate Tyson/Douglas with the 80’s, and thus am always surprised when it gets (correctly) placed in the 90’s. That said, this was easily the most significant fight of that decade.

I love this channel, but it's usually always classic boxers and heavyweights, there's a lot of talent out there and there are more weight divisions than just heavyweights and middleweights, i don't want people to get the idea boxing is dead when all people post is long reitred boxers.
