I hear you dude, but that would be bad for the brand, you see. We get that experience going to Azteca, Tegucigalpa, San Salvador, San Jose, Belize and Panama during WCQ and we struggle against that.That's why we decided, in the last WCQ, to play I think El Salvador in Minneapolis, Minnesota in winter because we were underwhelming and not getting points when playing in Central America. Doing what you suggest in South America, in altitude in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, Bolivia, and then against the titans of CONMEBOL would be so humbling and humiliating, US Soccer would realize they can't sell, promote and squeeze money out of a team that's ultimately a medium-sized fish used to swallowing guppies in a small pond suddenly finding itself being devoured by the sharks of a bigger footballing ocean in South America.

Managing elite talent/personalities is like driving a $500k car, just because you know how to drive, doesn't mean you know how to drive all cars. Makes you appreciate an Ancelotti, Guardiola or Mourinho. Sports travesty when generational talented teams (I know the US and England are on different levels), like what Belgium was, are ruined by incompetance at the high levels of the organization. They are versatile in that they can play pretty and with speed but can also play the most physical football in South America. They know how to play and win ugly.

? Vamos a jugar allí.

As a British person I never believed the moniker that this current generation is the strongest US generation. They are the most technical because they are the first generation to emerge from the MLS and world academies system. I don’t see a McBride, Dempsey, Claudio Reyna, Beadsley,, Howard, Friedel or Donovan who were stars in their top 5 league clubs. A lot of people say they have more Americans in big European teams, but I think this is because European clubs see the commercial value in American players now, which wasn’t the case before. It didn’t go unnoticed in the Europe that when Pulisic joined Chelsea, the Premier League TV contract increased by four times it’s value in the USA, so big clubs are buying Americans to increase the value of their TV rights in the USA. There is also a lot more American owned teams in Europe now, and American owned teams tend to buy Americans for commercial reasons too. So,I think more Americans in top 5 leagues is more to do with commercial value than quality. I also think US trying to play this technical passing game, just makes the USA easier for big teams to beat. USA players are not at technically gifted as the players from the top nations who don’t have pay to play and have a street soccer culture that produces more technical players. Let’s be real Pulisic the so called greatest American player ever, would not start in the French, Spanish, Brazilian, Argentina, German, Portugal or even the England team. Why is the USA trying to play passing technical game other countries will always be superior than them at? That is why this generation not had any major wins against big teams like past generations. The traditional strengths of the US players were defensive organisation, grittiness, work rate and raw athleticism. But does the USA have those players with all MLS academies teaching American kids tiki-taka football? The USA should be playing to these strengths. Klinsmann gets a not of criticism in the US soccer media because he called out American soccer problems and there were people in American soccer waiting for him to fail when he was US coach because he wanted to shake up the status quo and a lot of people in US soccer have vested interests to keep things the same. But I still think his USMNT was the strongest USA team I have ever seen, who would regularly beat big names home and away because they what they were good at and what they weren’t good at and played to these strengths.

It’s not that bad. US Soccer pays Emma so much that it matches what most of your opponents pay their men’s coach. They might very well pay them less than what Emma is earning. It’s only a few men’s teams that pay their coach real astronomical sums. Like England, Germany, France, Argentina probably. Panama hardly does or Uruguay either. Or you can look at the Euros England almost lost to Slovakia and Portugal to Slovenia. They both pay their coach 10x more than what Slovakia and Slovenia can afford most likely. So coach salary isnt the be all end all. Lots of good coaches you can get with your budget. But I agree that the USMNT has nothing to gain whatsoever from comparing itself to the USWNT in every aspect. It has to compare itself to other men’s teams. Just saying you don’t need to be in the top 5 % of highest paid coaches to be competitive.
@LL311993 ай бұрын
So it’s not the ”equivalent of a women’s team coach”. Emma earns maybe 10x that of most well paid coaches in the women’s game, if not more. Men's team, USMNT, the men's national team... as long as they keep calling it that absurd way... Folks, no one in the world is going to make a mistake when they turn on the TV if a game is from the "men's" team or is from the women's team.

Why the f*ck do they even have to call it that?😂

Because the women's team us better and more popular.

@@pglanville The USA was a pioneer in women's football - without going into the reasons - to the point where you were basically the only country in the world with a semi-professional training structure (reaching the NCAA), which is why the USA always won, because no one, and i remark, no one, in the rest of the world cared one bit about women's "soccer"/ football. so, taking to much pride in the successes of the women's team is as absurd as if today the USA patted themselves on the back for being the world's best American football (NFL style) team (you are the only country In the world where is played). In the last women's World Cup, the US team was far behind, despite continuing to be the team with the most funds, the most support of all kinds and the greatest sponsorship. And in Spain, which was the champion, I'm already telling you that no one, no one was interested in the slightest, there were no celebrations in the streets, no bar had the games in the tv's and for the vast majority of the population, it was an anecdotal event with no major relevance, because despite being a country where football is a passion, almosr no one cares about women's football and the little attention it receives, is more for political/ideological reasons than for a real fan base.

@@FedericoPrieto13 I'm surprised there are people who even watch women's football lol. Here in South Africa the rest of Africa to be honest no one watches it even women.🤣

Oh my god, never ever bring back Kasey Keller ever again to this program. So obviously a US Soccer shill with how vague he answers everything.

USA and Mexico share similar problems, not enough talented players due to their youth systems and they both want to bring Zidane or Guardiola to "fix" in 2 years what takes a generation doing the work at the base to really create a top team similar to Belgium or Uruguay

Perfectly fine hiring someone I've never heard of that actually knows the game and is a good fit. This guy knows how to prepare his team to play, no clue how to prepare them to win.
