First thing I noticed the first time, having never machine polished a car, and I'm not a weak person, is that BLOODY HELL my arms were aching when I'd finished!! Fantastic video, this is the one EVERY new polisher should watch!

That Touring is in Portomao blue. I was lucky enough to nearly buy one but for 7-8 grand less I bought a Jaguar XE R Dynamic Black edition with a list of extras added. Beautiful BMW bit gutted because of the price. I've bought a load of Bilt Hamber products focusing on LSP so that I wouldn't have to do this for a long long time. This just shows how much time and effort is involved deep at the core of detailing. 👍

Good to see skills transferred, dont forget the edges, some mask them off as you can give them too much love and they cut harder.

3:19 - One time I had a big surprise was when I used Perfect Finish to do a one-step on an HS clearcoat. Under heavy light you couldn't see much marring, but after using a panel wipe I could see half of the initial scratches, which would be expected. With Koch abrasives doesn't happen :\ Also, a great advice for detecting whether the pad stalls is marking a straight line on the backplate with a sharpie

Would you say getting a old bonnet from a scrap yard that isn’t too beat up, and has fairly decent paint and price, is a good way to practice technique for a newbie
@Harold_Shand

That's what I did, well worth it as you can also practice a bit of wet sanding, scratch repair etc.

That's a great way to practice. It'd actually probably be better to get one with swirls and marks on it, so you can experiment with different compounds and grades to see what works and what doesn't.

Nice video Jon. Just a question though. Shouldn't the perfect finish have been worked a little longer? Every time I use it I notice that it gets oilier as I go along. I think this is where it changes from cutting to fnishing too. Seemed to me like you could have gotten a little bit more finishing out of it. What's your take?

Hi, what's the best thing to wipe a panel down after polishing ?, I've got some gyeon q2m APC (will dilute as per the bottle) is that ok to use or is there better?. I'm such a noob and got so many questions about pads and polish on new cars/new paint.

@@ForensicDetailing Thanks Jon, just today in the post I got gyeon prep and the waterspot remover ;). Still need to find my feet with the Flex XFE, as in actually using the polisher and pad/polish choice. Your content helps alot and 100% next time im going to chill and not rush and "slow down" with the passes.
