Hello lovely people,
here is the second video in response to your questions: How to get the wrists more flexible and the answer is: they have to become both stronger and more flexible.

Hi Natalie!

I think some wrist (and elbow) problems may actually be coming from the lack of shoulder flexibility... the weight being distributed the wrong way when there is no wrist-elbow-shoulder-hip alignment. I also recall an acrobatics teacher saying that (when landing in back handspring) you should rotate the wrists/fingers inwards (forming a triangle shape with thumbs and index fingers) to prevent repetitive strain injury... which seems to contradict what you say about rotating elbow pits outwards.

I wonder if it is a contradiction. I rotate my arms outwardly when they are below my head (like Natalie) but inwardly when they are above my head (like in a handspring/handstand).

Hello both, thank you for your thoughts. It always depends a bit on the individual alignment. For the purpose of this wrist stretch, we want to make sure the palm and base of the hand are flat on the floor, so finding your fully locked out elbow position serves that. I would definitely say the elbow/ arm rotation varies for different handstand exercises and sometimes serves to protect from excessive strain or on other occasions to create more stability or pressure in a certain direction.
