Designed for writers and method actors who have never studied psychology and who have no interest in studying psychology. This series outlines each of the sixteen Jungian personality archetypes to better get you inside your character’s head. Special emphasis on how each type processes and priorities information, the nuances of their communication style, how their humor manifests, and what each type looks like as a villainous character. This week's focus is on the ESTJ's personality.

I often find that my estj “no nonsense mentality” shows when I hear something that I think is dumb or illogical and I usually respond with sarcasm or criticism that my friends often find harsh. I often see their point afterwards but in the moment I just feel like I’m pointing some great absurdity that everyone else can see.

These videos are so helpful. I'm writing a book at the moment, and an ESTJ is just so different from how I see the world, it's sometimes hard to get into their mindset. I've written my basic character, his wants and motivations etc and then typed him as a way for me to get in his head a bit better (answering the MBTI questions). This series really helps me fill in and flesh out, when it comes to communication and humour. So thank you so much for your insights.

Mainly watched this one because Simba was in the thumbnail, and though I hadn't consciously typed him before, I wouldn't have guessed ESTJ (but I can definitely see it now). Your breakdown of the lions never questioning the ineffectiveness of their monarchy system made me laugh a lot

My mother is sometimes an ESTJ SOMETIMES AN ESFJ I am SERIOUS she changes unpredictably I cannot pin point her exact personality we're too different from each other, I'm an ENTJ btw.
@cynthiapayne9906

Those two can seem very similar, particularly in their motivations. I'd suggest focusing on her speech patterns for a bit to see if that helps. ESTJs are very direct--they say what they mean and mean what they say and don't beat around the bush, while ESFJs very much beat around the bush and tend to circle around the topic. ESTJs also like to 'lead' the conversation and introduce new topics on their schedule, while ESFJs prefer to follow along with the given topic. You're an ENTJ, so it will be harder for you to figure it out because your brain is going to automatically edit and summarize what everyone says so YOU can "get to the point" in your head, and you naturally like to lead the conversation, so it may be helpful to sit back and listen, even record so you can study it later, to her talking to a third party. You can also try and figure out if the conversations between you and your mother are typically easy (not necessarily topic, but the natural flow and chemistry of the conversation) or if you are always trying to redirect each other in conversation which will result in a more stilted and less easy flow. I hope that helps, and good luck!

@@cynthiapayne9906 Hermione has a genuine desire to learn.Her favourite place is the library. If not for Ron and Harry she would never go out. She's a perfectionist. She loves to plan,organise, color code. She doesn't love fun or adventure for it's sake rather as a means to help her friends. She is not a leader. She is bossy yet not dominating. Her extroversion comes only in classroom or when something larger is at stake or someone's in danger. Her extroversion comes out of necessity rather of character. She likes being approached in a relationship rather being assertive and take the lead. Hermione isn't a friendly kind of person. She loves to correct people.she has a small social group. She doesn't like attention. She is a logician. She uses strong cold logic to solve all kinds of problems.
@cynthiapayne9906
@cynthiapayne9906 3 жыл бұрын
@@AyushKumar-uu2yd Thank you for explaining your thought process. I think I better understand where you are coming from and I think I can better explain my thought process in response: Hermione is an extrovert because her top (dom) function is an extroverted function, specifically Te. Te loves to organize, to color code, to make systems and plans in order to accomplish things. This is what Te doms are great at (ESTJs and ENTJs). Se doms are all about the parties and living large and having adventures and being super friendly, and they are the "stereotypical" extroverts, but Te doms want all the knowledge so they can understand all the systems and do all the things and solve all the problems. They then want others to explain why they think the way they do and are always trying to get more information and asking for clarification--often by correcting others when they think their thinking is flawed. They like books and they work very hard to get all the knowledge to do all the things. ENTJs and ESTJs can be mistyped as introverts because of this stereotype, because they are prone to spending lots of time alone so they can do all the things and that takes time and work, but their top function is extroverted, so they are extroverted. ESTJs especially, because they have Si and are affiliative, take formal education VERY seriously. She is absolutely a leader and both bossy and dominating. The very first time we see her, she is taking charge of finding Nevil's frog on the train. She defers to Harry only because she respects him, but when she doesn't respect authority figures (Professor Trelawney) her dominating comes out forcefully. She is rather forceful in presenting her ideas and takes charge at several times--think about how she took charge with SPEW and with the final confrontation with Umbridge. She is extremely take-charge and this is her extroversion in full swing: in doing all of the things. ESTJs do like being approached for relationships because their Sensing function is introverted (second function). Si likes to be approached by Se in romance, just like ISTPs (introverts) like to do the initiating in romance because their second function is Se, or extroverted. I hope that makes my thinking clearer. Thank you again and thank you for the opportunity! I do so love psychoanalyzing people who don't actually exist, lol!
