Thanks. I think the altruism aspect of what entjs try to achieve is often not undescored enough. Whereas Tywin may seem ruthless to his opponents, if you are of his organization/inner circle, he has worked tireless on your behalf, and generally improved your circumstances. It is a big part of the ENTJs that tends to be overlooked, but is such a driving force for a healthy ENTJ. My neighbor is currently expanding her business and is going out of her way to make sure that expansion will allow her to fill a need in the community for special-needs kids and PTSD veterans. Even though she is under no obligation and it's costing her a great deal of money on top of an already large expansion, she recognizes that with it she will be uniquely positioned to fill that need and she wants to fill it so badly. She is truly someone to look up to and I hope to be half as awesome as she is one day :)

Beautifully done. I often see myself and other entj's as people that had expectations from life and when they didnt recieve them, they wanted to create these things. I would say we are more visionaries rather than ultra realistic people when you look deep down. We are bounded by realism however we look towards the future. What good an organizer is if there is no goal to speak of? Also i really could relate to my weaknesses, thank you for showing us. Really focuses on the parts i should build.

I have a friend with these functions and I’m an ENTP and I love it. I don’t take it personal, I love the quick wit, the direct commands, I love how they cut to the chase and tell me what they think I need to do. I might not listen but I see it as love. I don’t need a lot of emotions to feel loved, just a lot of attention. And someone thinking about what would improve my life is a hell of a lot of attention. Plus they’re used to taking up space and getting into trouble so they do not find me intimidating. I like pointing things out, I can be crude and funny and mocking or satirical as a form of affectionate banter so we usually have a lot of laughs.

As an INTP, the best advice I can give to xNTJs is to learn to use vulnerability as a weapon. Vulnerability is not weakness, but takes strength. Best used sparingly, but it can be very effective, especially with Fe users. It can be one of the most difficult skills for an xNTJ to learn, but worth it, I would think.

@@amided3816 For defense, mainly, I suppose :D xNTJs can, uh, rub other people the wrong way, as you may or may have not noticed. With Fe users, lowering your shields and being vulnerable for a moment can be an effective way of cooling tensions. It won't necessarily get the Fe user to like you, but it might at least get them to upgrade you from "amoral sociopathic scum who must be cleansed from this Earth for the sake of humanity as a whole" to "okay, fine, a stakeholder whose interests and ideas should be taken into account. I guess." I say "weapon" because a flash of vulnerability will stab an Fe user like a rapier to the heart. In the video above, you do see examples of xNTJ characters being vulnerable involuntarily and despite themselves. If you learn how to do it voluntarily, then that's going to be a cheat code that will make *everybody's* life a little easier

None of the psychology in these videos is my own work, I just took it and made it pretty and applicable to one of my favorite hobbies (writing fiction). He's got a ton of videos on INTJs if you want to check him out. Then I go through the laborious process of typing the characters myself. I will scroll through other's fictional typing blogs to get ideas, but most of the time I don't agree with them, lol! And that's part of the process--how good is my one-sided argument? Thanks again!

Probably the best advice I can give to an ENTJ trying to 'do people,' particularly with family that you really can't dismiss and ignore too easily, is to just err on the side of keeping your mouth shut more often. Smile, nod, and look cute when they say stupid shit. The goal of family functions is to maintain lifelong connections that will benefit you and your children years down the line, not to achieve any immediate goal or resolve any immediate problem. Your family's connections can be your connections and your children's connections and can benefit you and those you care for in ways impossible to predict, but these relationships must be maintained and that requires time and attention. Now, if they directly ask, then by all means be totally honest, but try to practice not just jumping in and solving the problem with bluntness automatically. It takes practice... but an ENTJ trying to force themselves to be warm and nice rarely ends well, so I'd suggest baby steps in diplomacy until that warmth feels more willing.

I think it's so true that ENTJs at their core feel rotten. I overwork so that no one can tell how insecure I am. I am harsh with my communication to push people away. The issue with that is I never get to connect with others on an emotional level bc when I finally let myself feel, it is like a flood of emotions, and I have to push it down. Lately I've been forced to deal with it, and honestly, seeing a therapist and having supportive friends have really helped. I've learned the following so far: -not all logic is helpful and good -It's ok to admit that we aren't perfect -emotion + kindness when appropriate builds trust - and you need trust to optimize efficiency -communicate with people in a way that resonates with them - either emotionally, logically, or both -soften speech so others don't get hurt or feel judged (no one will even listen if they feel hurt or judged - you won't get a shot at efficiency) -is it worth it being right if you're going to be an asshole and burn bridges? Stop saying you don't need those kinds of people in your life - they're trying to teach you something. Perhaps they are awakening things in you that are your weakness and you don't want to admit it. Perhaps you're afraid it will paralyze you with fear and you can't get anything done. So be it. Let it all fall apart for a bit. You have always had the strength to pick up the pieces -since ENTJs like challenges, I challenge y'all to try some of the above. Good luck. You don't need me to say this, but you got this. -a work in progress ENFJ

I am so sorry you are struggling with this and I really love how you've framed communication and vulnerability within the pragmatisms of efficiency. Very ENTJ friendly :) One thing that writing fiction has taught me is that people cannot love perfection. NJs spend so much time trying to project a more perfect version of themselves to others because we believe that our flaws make us unworthy. We must perform to earn the loyalty and affection of those around us, and that performance must be exceptional. But by denying our flaws we deny our humanity. As a writer, I know everything about my characters. I know how they think, I know their story, I know their flaws, and I know their very soul. You cannot write a character without loving a character, and because I love them, my first instinct is to portray them in the best possible light. I want others to love them. The problem is-no one can love a Mary Sue. It’s not possible. For my characters to have a chance to be loved, I have to drag them through the dirt. I have to show my readers the worst of them. I have to make them try, and fail, and learn from it, and then make them try, and fail, and learn from it again. They must struggle, and they must struggle in the most public way possible. Only then will others have the chance to love them, and only then will my characters have the opportunity to fulfill their potential. We love others because of their flaws, not in spite of them. Writing fiction has given me a very different perspective on how to connect with people, and a very different perspective on how to be a parent. It’s also given me a very different perspective on what kind of being God must be, assuming He exists. Best of wishes on your journey.

@@cynthiapayne9906 Cynthia - thanks so much for your insight. It's wonderful that being a writer has given you so much perspective. Youre right in that we fall in love with characters bc of their flaws. The things that make them human, as you've mentioned. We love these characters bc their struggles are the reason they are who they are. We fall in love with them perhaps bc we see a bit of ourselves - our own strengths and weaknesses in them. They say true courage is not acting in the absence of fear, but acting despite it. I cannot fathom the amount of courage and humility it takes to crawl out of the darkest pits of hell. As an ENTJ it's taken me years to even have these thoughts and honestly it's only happened bc my feelings have forced themselves upon me. I have no choice but to deal with them lol so focus on my Fi and Ti have been my latest projects. One cannot logic and reason their way out of their own feelings. We must simply feel it, sit through it, and understand why they are triggered. I think it's one of the hardest things ENTJs deal with. Working hard, looking good, being successful, speaking well come easy. Humility and showing our ugly side is by far the most difficult thing i've had to encounter. Thank you for creating stories that embrace those flaws and love those flaws. We must learn to love a person in their entirety - not just the fun things about them - to truly live a fulfilling life full of connection and happiness. I think thats what success means to me. And i do wish you the best of luck with writing fanfiction, and wonderful job on your accomplishments in finding something that makes you happy. And great job as well on your multiperspective view on life - it sounds like it's made you become a better person and parent for it.

With the corona virus, KZbin is on a skeleton crew so I probably won't be able to do anything about that for a few months, sorry. I do upload every Tuesday at 9am EST with some bookish or writerly content, and this series as I'm able to complete the videos. To change subjects, I did make a mistake recently. I took a sandwich to a knife fight and got cut four ways; long, wide, deep, and repeatedly. On the up side, the tomatoes were perfectly sliced.

ENTJs are constantly worried that they are, at their core, rotten and are somehow lacking the basic element that makes good people good and specifically that makes good people valuable. ENTJ’s instinctively believe that everything is capable of being organized and quantified, therefor there must be some tangible, measurable standard that makes good people good and that measurable standard must be the value, and thus productivity, that good people bring to the table. So, they are always trying to make the feeling that they are bad go away by working very hard and showing those around them their accomplishments in the hopes that others will then have a positive opinion about the ENTJ, and thus quiet their insecurities."

As an ENTJ female. This information rubbed me the wrong way .. and I also, think the video clips were unnecessary and poor examples or portrayals of ENTJS. Actually, I have deep thoughts about a lot of things. And I'm far from an asshole. I just think this is contradicting information. Were just way more calculated than this. This just seems like narcissistic behavior portrayed in this video.

Thank you! 'Irregardless' is a proper word in the region I live in (the deep south). it's etymology is a combination of "irrespective" and "regardless." It has a specific use that doesn't translate well if you're not familiar with it. It's basically an emphatic use of "regardless." So if you’re a native speaker of certain dialects that use "irregardless" you use "irregardless" to shut down further conversation on a topic. I might say, “Dad, let me borrow the car. I'm a really good driver.” And he'll say, “Regardless, I'm not comfortable.” I'll say, “Oh but come on. I'll get it detailed, and I'll put gas in it.” He’ll say, “Irregardless, no.” It's a way to end the conversation politely. To put it another way...
