True ESTPs are pretty rare. Not all, but many, are truly exceptional people. They're kind of the actual mavericks, as opposed to the wannabe type. I think that the biggest weakness of the ESTP is that they can actually be kind of unintentionally intimidating. People feel like they're on stage when they're around ESTPs. But the well practiced ESTP can also seem to make everyone comfortable. It's really a fascinating personality type. This video sums it up nicely.

INFP daughter here trying to understand her ESTP father. Yup, spot on. He always has to be right and it gets me on my nerves because he won’t even properly listen to others... and when he does, he always has a really good answer. It’s difficult to beat them or to have them admit you are right. I dont think Id get along with this type of personality (except for my father ofc, but we’re always arguing and hating each other because both of us are stubborn af 😂) I admit they are v intelligent tho.

Pretty sad that people don’t talk about ESTP like this more often. I’ve been mistyped ENTP several times, but I just knew it was wrong because when I personally looked at it I thought I was and ESTP. The biggest thing that made me unsure is my love for discussions. Since people say ENTP = Pro debaters and ESTP = Chad. I just became more confused, but the way this video explained the discussion styles of ESTPs and ENTPs/INTPs made me understand so much better.

I work with an ESTP, and he is always so forceful and direct in conversation. It feels like a big façade that he uses to cover up a more unstable inner life. At least he is a good leader, and eager to get things done. As an INFP, I don't mind him taking control of the work at hand..most of the time.

@@Beyou0120 Hiya, I was mistaken, and decided that he is actually an ESTJ. He is almost a perfect stereotypical ESTJ..I don't know how I missed it. Whenever he's faced with a task, he wants to complete it IMMEDIATELY. He can be rather brute force about it, delegating work and directing others to help out. He's a natural leader. But at the same time, he is highly empathetic and compassionate..as long as the current task doesn't get in the way. He's becoming rather relaxed and self-actualized in his life, and I think it has caused his Fi to develop big time. So what does he think of me? He sees me as a comrade, someone serving the same goal. I'm rather closed off when it comes to forming bonds with others..so I've failed to expand my friendship with him..and most people. Oh, and I was wrong about my own personality 3 years ago. I'm an INTP; Almost generically so.

estp here, i can say that we’re sometimes are too stereotyped. i have way too many interests bcs i get bored easily. at one point i can be very motivated by academic validations so i will study for that. but after the exam season, i’ll be carried away by listening to music, watching youtube, watching animes & kdramas,playing games & media social and explore the internet. but that doesn’t mean i dont have a social life. i am very active in academic activities or like debate etc (which made me doubt that im not an estp bcs of those stereotypes saying estp doesn’t like academic things) and i held lots of positions in school. i would say that im a loud type of person, but because of my trust issues and few anxiety ppl thought that im an introvert lol. i tend to avoid people im not really close with. most of the times because i dont like their aura. and i hate to admit it but i like crowded places. i also feel like i make a good use of all my cognitive functions. my Fe and Ni is quiet strong, which is resulted that i do have feelings but i try to deny it (like holding back my tears and deny my emotions when making decisions). People also said that i can be very nice and trustworthy. But it can’t defeat my Se and Ti. I act on impulse. People keep on calling me aggressive because i do not know how to be patient + i hate it when things are slow. So harsh words usually came out of my mouth if im impatient. besides all of that, most ppl would describe me as chill. i dont like it when useless thing are debated. my Ti is quiet strong, people put my tagline literally as “my logic is not your logic, but im not wrong”. im not really good at describing myself so im sorry if this is hard to read lol

Most people have a “self-righteous” BENT… and mature and get out of that; if they stay away from the media or certain kinds of it and remember their ACTUAL dealings with people. A narcissistic person also WILL NOT admit narcissism… it ruins their game. Unless you’re actually in love with yourself to the point of manipulating and tormenting other people… you’re very unlikely to be NPD. Im an estp, in highschool I was typical jock build 6 foot etc, i say that to help paint a picture, but I was inclusive of people to a fault- where I could feel that the quiet/nerd types that I didnt want to leave out were thinking that I was fake and inauthentic. When its just my nature. I despised bullies. You thinking that confident people are bullies is a common fault of shy introvert judgy types- you think your way through life and judge others without actually experiencing how people actually are.

Check out cognitive functions. They are way more accurate than actual tests, though if this seems boring to you, I suppose you can take a cognitive function test instead, which would determine your type better than 16p would.

My experience with ESTP. They are ambitious and have a knack for coercing others to do most of the work.(their work) Personal experience. I work for free or low pay with a long term offer for a break on future rent. The work gets done.(their work) Situations change, I am left out in the cold On the other hand my ESTP friend and brother in law is a fair honest individual. Maybe hes an isfp?

Life isn’t so cut and dry. Especially if you’ve been tempered and matured. Se is a data function, not necessarily a “social” function. There’s plenty of “Se” in the home these days - especially for Thinkers. Also, Ti and Ni develop from trauma or bullying or whatever. You can be Se-Dom, but be in your INFJ shadow for YEARS… Making you, actually, an even more equipped ESTP. Then there’s the fact that the theory isn’t necessarily reality… The cognitive functions have relationships; as well, we don’t always do what we prefer. Especially with Fe auxiliary, (per Jung, the auxiliary follows the dominant in attitude: Se Fe Ti Ni…); OTHERS opinions and/or hindrances and/or needs and/or wants can GET IN THE WAY. If you were in a “perfectly” comfortable situation, and you could get their voices and vibes out of your head, you would be less hindered. Assuming you’re ESTP… Much more could be said.
