Hello I really like your reviews I’ve been subscribed for awhile. I’m looking at ordering the 11 available commentaries rn and I wanted to see what you think of them now that you’ve had some time. It’s quite a bit of money but id like to hear that you felt it was worth it. Thank you

Thanks man for subscribing.The short one is yes! They are so worth it! Obviously, certain authors in the series are a bit better than other ones. But I have no reservations in recommending this series as a whole as a purchase. The only decision in my mind you have to make is do you want them in physical copy, or digital from logos or something. Because they do take up quite a bit of shelf space. As for use over time, I spend some time in these every week and it is one of the first places I go after my text study is done. Does Volume 1 exist? I can find the others but not Genesis - Numbers.

It has not been released yet 😢. It was slated for release initially in the Fall of 2023. But it appears Crossway has delayed it for some reason. I have caught chatter that would suggest it is in the final editing or layout phase, but it is not up on Crossway.org for release this fall or in the Spring of 2024… so I am hopeful it will be out Fall of 2024 (but they have not updated their website to confirm that yet). I am suspicious one of the original commentators slated for either Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, or Numbers got switched out and that has delayed the final volume, but that is just speculation on my part. That being said, I really want the last one to come out… and I would also not be surprised if we got a volume 1.1 and 1.2 because I just imagine fitting all four of those commentaries into one book would make it massive. Even more pages than the 1 Samuel-2 Chronicles volume. Hope that helps!

Update to my reply from earlier. Today in my searching I found this page on Crossway’s website. It looks very favorable from this that Volume 1 of the ESV Expository Commentary series (Genesis-Numbers) will be out during the first quarter of 2024. @@Back2theWord Thank you for the great response! I thought it seemed odd for there to be 12 volumes without a first one but just couldn’t find it anywhere. I think you’re right about the potential size of it as they could probably do a whole volume on Genesis alone. I wonder if Michael Heiser had a part in this one. Being that you have several in your library, is this set from Crossway your favorite?

My full LSB Bible arrives in the mail tomorrow (Until now I have only had the NT, Psalms, and Proverbs) and I plan to do an unboxing video and talk some about the translation. And the video you are asking for will happen soon after. So, definitely more to come about that. Any other ideas for videos I should do?
