Bravo for the Madame Gu exercise program. Running is good for you. As you talked of the smooth docking, I had to think of pairing the song “Smooth Operator” with your video. However, you would likely get more views with pairing that song with a video of “The Beautiful Nieces of Monaco and the Riviera”. The Med brings out the generosity of older Uncles with their pretty, and favorite nieces.

All I know is that when I bring a boat alongside in a foul wind smooth as silk there is no one ever to see this feat of great seamanship - when I make a complete hash of it and try and park it in the harbour side cafe there is always a huge and appreciative audience. Parking these big beasts would be too much for my heart to bear!

Doesn't seem like all luck E. You try, maybe you fail for one yacht but catch another. You try to get in the right place at the right time. With no trying, your success rate would suck. That's why I watch. You always try and normally succeed...with something. A+ video E!

The skill of these captains and crews are amazing. Try backing your car into a parking space with only relatively inches to spare on each side. Add in your car would be affected by the wind and currents and, oh by the way, your car is a million dollar Bugatti and on one side is a Rolls and on the other is a Ferrari so no scratches are tolerated. But what the heck, no pressure .. right??

If your bored with nothing to film in Monaco, if it’s not too windy, you might be able to film paragliders coming in to land off Rock Brune on the (nudist, or it was) beach. If your at sea looking back at Monaco, the mountain on the right hand side of the bay, the one with the big tv mast on it, the end spur is (or was) a take off site. It can be an interesting landing, as you have to judge it right (have enough height) to clear the overhead power lines on the train track, just in front of the beach.

I'm not sure if you've ever talked about it, but where do they store all those fenders when they're at sea? I'm guessing they are inflatable(?) Maybe you can give a quick explanation of the process of storing and deploying those ubiquitous items some time. Great work! I always enjoy your videos.
@YachtReport Жыл бұрын
They are inflatable.
@bobansak2583 Жыл бұрын
I worked on a ~35 metric ton/75,000 lb displaement ~20meter sailing yacht which used a fair number of pretty big fenders. At times I deflated most/all of the fenders, especially during longer ocean passages when space was at a premier and the boat container would not "follow" the yacht. The yacht had a dive compressor so I made up "special" hose with an attachment so I could re-inflate them

Thankyou for your dedication passion and insight that you bring into your great videos. I become more aware of your behind~the~scenes work, and the enormity of it all, as to me as I ponder, it looms large behind the finished outcome. A bit like the mountains in the rear view mirror following and growing ever larger, as we drive away from them. But in a friendly way.

You must get utterly knackered running arround to get into position for a shot. Only to have the target go off & do something else. Drone & camera batteries running low must be another pain in the behind. At least they are more compact these days.

Well this just goes to show everyone that timing is everything and no matter how hard we try or plan the best laid plans don’t come to be . This is why I have some trouble believing in some conspiracy theories as they only can happen if everything falls into play perfectly. Love the effort you put into your past time to show us land locked admirers how live exists on yachts and what it takes to be part of that environment.🤔😎👍

It’s definitely a Med thing that you actually don’t see so much these days. But 15-20 years ago, every time we would be coming in, there’d be a big crowd on the dock to watch the maneuver. But they weren’t there to see a flawlessly smooth show - they were hoping to see a huge screw up - like racing fans who’ve come for the crashes. And initially it used to make me a bit nervous. But after the first season I just came to think it was funny. I couldn’t blame them for watching the show in the Cannes old port, coming into a ‘slip’ that’s not there until you push the other boats aside, with a 25 knot wind right on the beam!
@yvonnetomenga5726 Жыл бұрын
Your story illustrates what my father frequently told us as we were growing up. "Sometimes luck is worth more than brains." You can logically check what the yachts are doing, but Lady Luck determines whather you get the video. In the same vein, the Sharpe series* has General Calvert telling the story of how Napoleon selects a general. Napoleon asks "Is he lucky?" *The Sharpe series by ITV is available on KZbin. Author Bernard Cornwell wrote a series of novels based in the time of the Napoleonic wars. For those of us who prefer sword fight to gun fights, it's a grwat series.
