ETA PRIME, YOU LINKED TO AN OCULINK BOARD THAT ONLY SUPPORTS 32GBPS... (Data transfer rate up to 32 Gbps). Just figured that out after I ordered the part and spent 4 hours testing things and wondering why my system kept crashing. The CAPS doesnt mean I'm angry, I'm just trying to get other people's attention so they don't make the same mistake and purchase the item from the link that you posted. I just purchased the JMT brand PCIe 4.0 board and nvme that supports 64gbps and I'll report back if that works, wont be delivered for two more days. If you really are running the same board in your video here that you linked to on Amazon, then you were only testing oculink performance over 32gbps and it was likely slower than USB 4.0 40gpbs speeds, even though it said it was using 4x pci lanes. I still love you of course, ETA Prime.
@radiantfairy40796 ай бұрын
Hi. Thanks for the heads up. Link to the JMT brand?

Updates ?
@zombiewolf0075 ай бұрын
@AmmarAhmed1 I wrote a reply here two weeks ago and for whatever bad reason I guess KZbin didnt approve it, or maybe the channel owner prevented me from posting it, or it got flagged and removed... Ive seen it happen before where it looks like I posted a harmless comment and then I leave the video and come back later only to see my comments are gone, within 5 minutes sometimes. Anyways, here's the results, but Im keeping it shorter this time because I dont know if KZbin will waste more of my time and delete this for some reason. The JMT-branded Oculink boards on Amazon that specifically state they handle 64gbps in their product pages DO work at a true 64gbps and I did get more FPS using the 64gbps nvme and PCIe GPU boards that came in the JMT kit. Let me state that Im not affiliated with this JMT brand, nor are they the only seller that offers parts that claim to offer 64gbps performance. In fact, JMT has some ads that sell 32gbps cards, so the moral of the story is to look for 32gbps Oculink cards when buying. There are a lot of other brands out there, and sold on other sites, including Aliexpress, and Im sure they all work the same (again, as long as they explicitly state that they support 64gbps link speed). Most of these Oculink products look white-label too (manufactured by one or more companies and are all identical with just branding being changed). If a product ad states PCIe 4.0 without stating the link speed, then assume its only doing 32gbps. You definitely only want to purchase something that specifically advertises 64gbps link speeds and PCIe 4.0 (or 5.0 in the future depending on when you might be reading this comment, and perhaps faster than 64gbps some day). Im very happy with the results, however I opted to not leave my GPU exposed on my table since I have very active pets that roam around, and I went down the rabbit hole and ended up building a whole new PC around my new GPU so that my expensive PC parts are safe inside a computer case. This was a fun project though and the performance was great and very enjoyable, enough for me to game with a brand new RTX 4080 using this Oculink setup connected to my little Beelink SER7 Mini PC (had to use the primary NVME slot on the Beelink SER7 for the Oculink card as the 2nd nvme slot on the riser board couldnt handle the Oculink card) for two whole weeks, daily, without incident. Even using the 32gbps speed cards that ETA had linked to, things ran, but my system would crash sometimes and it was either the particular parts or it was the limited bandwidth maybe? It would run "ok" for a couple hours at-a-time though with 32gbps link. I saw at least a 10 to 20fps difference when I started using the 64gbps cards and had full system stability at that point, too. I hope this helps, and I hope this message remains posted here on KZbin and isnt taken down again. Good luck, everyone!

Thunderbolt 5 SHOULD have just been a simple PCIe 5.0x4 link, so that I'd be 128Gbps, but instead it's only 80Gbps bidirectional, with some 120Gbps one way mode.....which stinks because now there will be a plethora of TB5 applications where customers have to read the fine print to make sure each specific laptop/motherboard/cable has the bandwidth they need....very similar to what it's like with USB 3.2 cables. It should have just been 128Gbps minimum

Here's the thing about frame gen. Why do we want more frames in our games? It's because frame rate is a stand-in for latency. At 120 frames per second I have twice as many opportunities to react as 60 frames per second. And four times as many opportunities to react than at 30 frames per second. Synthetic frames don't give me the opportunity to react, hence they are of significantly less value than true frames. Does it look better? I mean yeah in a way it does but it's not functionally better.

Depends on the game. Yeah for a competitive FPS or fighting game it’s meh. But for more spectacle and single player stuff where you’re not really winning or losing based on a few milliseconds just watching smoother animations is like half the fun.

🤔 4x 4060TI 16GB ~= 1/2 the price of 1 A6000 48GB. You'd lose so much performance on the PCIe bandwidth, so I'm not sure what you would use it for, but on the other hand, for half the price, it might be worth it, lol. Plus I think there are some consumer motherboards that support 4 NVMe slots out of the box nowadays. Food for thought.
