The ending makes me suspect the reason Ajak chose Sersi was not just her love for humanity, but that Ikaris loved Sersi more than his sense of loyalty to the mission. He wouldn't be able to use his greater strength against her. It shows why Ajak was the leader

So… consider this: Thanos is an Eternal from Titan (brother to the guy at the end). He knows that the more people who are alive, the faster the celestial are born. So killing half the people in the universe would slow down the birth of Celestials, and all those worlds would be better off. He wasn’t WRONG, exactly.

Every one of the 10 Eternals are named after mythological characters, I like the idea that they are the cause of so many of our stories. with another Eternal from another planet was named Eros, that indicates that some characters are named after people our eternals "knew" from olympia, expanding that origin of legends even further.

This movie ties directly into why Thanos blipped half the universe true it was about resources but it also slowed the clock on all the celestials being born throughout the universe and when the Avengers brought everyone back it restarted the clock and earth had 7 days before the celestial is born.

30:11 It's my OPINION that the reason they turned Sprite into a human at the end of this movie is because the actor who played her (Lia McHugh) was only 15 years old. If the Eternals make future appearances in the MCU, Lia McHugh will be much older and it would have looked strange, considering the Eternals don't age throughout time.

the celestial at the end saying "I will return... for judgement" makes me really hope that a future Avengers movie, or hell i'll even take Eternals 2, will be based on the recent comic storyline Judgement Day, where a Celestial judges every human (slash "sapient being who lived on earth") to see if Earth was worthy of living. it was the best comic event in recent years. it'd take a lot of reworking, but hey they made Civil War as the most barebones adaptation but it still worked great. give me my MCU Judgement Day, Marvel!

Gemma Chan previously portrayed Minn-Erva in Captain Marvel 2019. Now she's back as Sersi, and she got to keep her accent this time. Kumail Nanjiani had to go on a strict Marvel diet. However in early 2020 while being interviewed, Jimmy Kimmel gave Kumail a bunch of pizza and cake to munch on for the first time in a while. Then early last year, Simu Liu (Shang-Chi) filled in for Kelly Clarkson in her talk show and also got to interview Kumail. He revealed that his niece was so happy to see her uncle on screen as Kingo. She even enjoyed dancing along to the Bollywood dance number. Also, Bryan Tyree Henry revealed in a behind-the-scenes interview that he was crying with excitement when he got to put on his costume for Phastos for the first time. A little reminder: this is his second Marvel role. His first was lending his voice as Miles Morales’ father Jefferson Davis in Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse. @32:45 That's the Ebony Blade that Sprite mentioned to Thena. Dane is about to become the next Black Knight. And that guy who spoke to him in the end was Eric Brooks better known as Blade. He’s a vampire hunter who so happens to be half-human half-vampire. He's being portrayed by Mahershala Ali, and he'll have his own film as part of Phase Five.

Thena is actually Thanos' cousin. In the comics, she is a love interest to the same deviant that she ended up killing in this film. The main reason why people dislike this film is because it would have been better in show format, due to all the different concepts coming into play. Another reason is that the main characters are arguably less interesting than the side characters. Makkari and Druig were really interesting.

Eternals has become one of my favorite MCU films! I love the different direction that Chloe Zhao took with this story from the normal formula of Marvel movies This movie definitely brings up a lot of great topics.. like someone’s morality and what is truly the right answer.. also touching on the family that they are and navigating those relationships as a team but also as individuals to one another.. I think it especially hit home for me with Druig questioning their mission and how they didn’t seem to actually be helping the people of earth… I could watch this movie again and again, it’s just such a nice little change from the norm and it’s cinematography is breath taking!!! This was a middle of the road movie for me. I'm really glad you enjoyed it though. It definitely had some cool parts, it introduced some interesting lore, and several of the characters earned my interest. It was entertaining enough. I had a good time with it, but I had complaints too. In my opinion, they were introducing too much all at once. 10 characters, the eternal race, deviants, celestials ending worlds, a super celestial that creates eternals, the Black Knight, Blade, Thanos's brother... I feel like it was just too much for a single movie. Eternals died, but we had so little time with them that when they did, I didn't feel anything about it at all. I was basically just like "Oops. They're dead. Sucks to be them!" I think if they made this as a Disney + series, so that they could give the audience more time to get to know the characters and grow attached to them, it would have been better. Because currently, I find some of the eternals interesting, but that's about it. A full movie about them is over and I don't really care about any of them yet.

It’s been even said that Thanos’s own mother tried to kill him after seeing shat she gave birth to! @erikbjelke4411
@erikbjelke4411 8 ай бұрын
The main reason, I think, reaction to this is split is because it deviates wildly from the source material. In the comics, Deviants are just kind of mutated Eternals. Thanos was a Deviant in the comics. The Eternals aren't exceptionally advanced synthetic life forms, but basically a race of gods. It's pretty complex and deep, so I don't necessarily object to the changes simplifying things, but I get why some do, and the loss of the more self-aware and human-like Deviants is kind of sad. But I don't think we've uncovered everything yet, so there's room to expand/reveal/retcon to bring some more comic elements in. As for Dane Whitman, his family legacy is complicated and tied with a magical sword called the Ebony Blade, which is just as bad as the name implies. And the voice at the end, asking him if he was sure, was Mahershala Ali, who will be playing Blade in an upcoming MCU movie, which I am incredibly excited for, and hoping Dane as The Black Knight is part of it.

People who are born or develope mutations are born with a dna gene called Mutant X. As Charles Xavier pointed out in the Xmen movies, its human evolution. In the comics, Celestial beings experimented on living creatures throughout the galaxies/universes to upgrade the species. The Kree were among them. As the Kree became advanced beings, they started doing experiments of their own on other species throughout the galaxy. The Kree are mentioned in seasons of the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D...fyi. The Celestials made super powered human beings called Eternals...the real ones, but it looks like the MCU altered that with them being advanced androids. So there were other beings made which didn't look as humanoid as the super powered Eternal creations. They looked alien. They are called Deviants. Thanos was a Deviant. Over millions of years later, the super powers became dormit in the descendants of those Eternal and Deviant beings....hence the "X gene" needing exposure to something radioactive and/or traumatic enough to shock their mutant abilities awake. Examples: Bruce and his cousin may be a lineage of a Deviant because they change into a different species. Gamma Ray space radiation. Steve Rogers shot up with a mystery formula that no one knows where Erskine made his out of, and he went into a radiation gamma ray chamber. His body could adapt and manifest abilities because of him having the X gene. Tony Stark used the Infinity Stones and died. He was not a descendant. Monica went through the radiation force field put up by Wanda. Woo said people couldn't get in. He could feel that he couldn't get in. Monica saw the force field before she ever got sucked in. It acknowledged her x gene and so she was allowed in without illness or death. Her getting exposed so many times unleashed her power...more on that in The Marvels movie. My theory is that she had the dormit gene, but her mother did not. Perhaps Monica and Maria were blasted by radiation weaponry from maybe Carol's enemies while looking for her. Monica survived unharmed, but her mom got stage 4 cancer from it. A separate theory about Icarus. It seems they were all created by the Celestials with some specific purpose. I think Cersei was his program's cornerstone and his main duties was to protect her and make sure the emergence happened without fail. I think him making the decision not to attack Cersei, at the end, was his true first free will decision that he made as an A.I. who was really learning on his own about affection and sacrifice. (side note: he and Vision need to talk so that he can advance like Vision did with the mind stone and know how to be more independent thinking from his programming) Him flying off into the sun was maybe his way of protecting them from his programming and feeling like a failure at the same time. I think that his body will be rebuilt again, like many times before, but the other Eternals may help him do better by trying to release their memories so they can become alias for the future Avengers.

Whenever you do get caught up, there are plenty of articles and videos out there that discuss Marvel's upcoming projects that are in various stages of development. They just finished Phase 4 and began Phase 5, and currently have all the content through Phase 6 announced, which is tentatively slated to take us through Summer 2026 with new releases. There is one caveat though: they've been shifting plans in recent weeks/months to begin delaying upcoming releases and spread the schedule out more. It's likely that almost everything will be getting pushed back at least a little bit.

funny thing is that if you actually stop to think about it Arishem and Icarus are the good guys. Stopping the emergence and preventing Tiamat's birth effectively prevents countless trillions or quadrillions from being born in the galaxies it would have gone on to create. In the end stopping the emergence is actually incredibly selfish of the eternals. Icarus is correct when he said they had no right to mess with the natural order.

This movie is on the lower end of my MCU list, because it has plenty of problems, but I like it just fine. Makarri was my favorite character. She was awesome and had the best depiction of super speed I’ve ever seen. Also this movie was beautifully filmed.

The voice at the end of the second post credits scene talking to Dane was Blade (played by Mahershala Ali), who is going to make his MCU entrance in the movie Blade next November, tentatively. Of course the way Bob Iger is talking about drastically slowing down MCU content output lately, we might not see it until 2026 or so.

This movie has one major issue, which is that all the characters are so invincible that there is basically no stakes, as they can just punch each other through buildings for no effect. What I usually call the 'Superman problem'. In fact, Ikaros is basically straight up Superman rip-off, with exactly same power set.

I loved the introduction of the new characters and how they linked ancient human history to the Eternals... and the overall structuring of the storyline... One little thing tho, imo we should've got more time to spend with the characters, to let us know them know better, before killing them off. Like, I didn't feel as much emotion for Ajak as I should've when she died, cuz she was there in only like 1 scene before it. Other than that I enjoyed this film AND your reaction! Someone (or even you 😂) should totally make a jumpscare compilation of every time you've got jumpscared on this channel up until now lmao. Would be one hell of a video 😂 The unknown voice in the end credits who interrupted Dane as he was picking up the sword... He's Blade, and it's his first official "appearance" in the MCU, before getting his own movie... In its 90s, Marvel sold the rights of this character to New Line Cinemas company, and they made the first R rated superhero movie called Blade. And it blew up at the cinemas, as people at that time hadn't seen something like that before... Really cool that they're bringing Blade back!

You can draw a few parallels between a few Eternals and some of DC's Justice League, you have Superman (Ikaris, basically exact same primary powers, flight, laser eyes and super strength), Flash (I forget the speedy one's name but its the same power, yes I know people will argue "but its not the speed force", superspeed is superspeed in my book), Cyborg (the inventor dude whose name I also cannot recall) just off the top of my head

The thing about watching this film is, once you include it within all the preceding events within the MCU you begin to understand that essentially, as a by-product of Thanos instituting his plans during Infinity War he actually bought Earth as well as other planets throughout the cosmos more time by delaying the birth of perhaps countless other Celestials that were getting primed and ready to hatch. You kind of have to begin to ask yourself if Thanos was as much a villan as he was portrayed to be; especially considering the fact that he is a Eternal-Deviant hybrid.

The "irony" of a deviant calling the eternals murderers... over the body of Gilgamesh that he just... murdered. Question for you to ponder... if the brother of Thanos is an eternal... was Thanos? I was not sold on this movie at first watch but it does grow on me. You would think if a celestial can "seed a planet" and wait millennia for the population to grow... you'd think they could also find a way to save the planet while emerging. Another Adorable Addie reaction.

Comic fans don't particularly care about Eternals, and so they don't particularly care about this movie, particularly when it deviates from the actual comic. Legendary comic artist and creator Jack Kirby created the New Gods for DC, a race of superbeings on a light planet, who oppose Darkseid on his dark planet. Kirby was pushed out of DC abruptly, and tried to recreate the News Gods as the Eternals at Marvel, but it didn't catch on. Celestials are the builders of the universe. They plant a Celestial Egg in a planet, then populate it with creatures who will protect it. On Earth, they created Eternals, powered beings to protect the planet in its infancy, and humans with the potential to eventually develop powers of their own. The Deviants are genetic mistakes the Celestials left behind, although they're not quite so monstrous, just disfigured and deformed people who have their own society underground. Note that you've seen Celestials before. In Guardians of the Galaxy and Infinity War, they visit the Collector on Knowhere, a giant alien head being used as a space port and mining colony. That's a dead Celestial's head. The boyfriend is Dane Whitman, the Black Knight. The sword is the Ebony Blade, a cursed sword from King Arthur's time that is handed down his bloodline. By drawing blood with the blade, the curse slowly turned him to stone, until he became a statue. Once he was cured, he was careful to only hit people with the flat of the blade, and later developed a type of light saber to wield instead.

My only REAL problem with this movie was that there were way too many characters to develop in the time frame of a movie, so I just ended up not really caring about most of the characters. This should have been an MCU series like Loki to help give it more time to marinate.

This was a very ambitious and divisive entry in the MCU. It had a lot to measure up to, which in hindsight seems a bit unfair for this film (ten + new characters first appearing that the audience has to somehow connect with, and be both a solemn epic AND a MCU film). I definitely appreciated it a lot more after a repeat viewing and hope it'll receive more acclaim in time.

I never read an Eternals comic book that I ever enjoyed, so I expected to dislike this movie. to be honest I hated the first act, but somewhere in the second act they got me, I ended up liking this movie a lot more than I thought possible. A few things no one is talking about. 1) None of the Eternals are dead, Arishem has them all backed up, and he can bring them back whenever he chooses. 2) If Thanos' brother is an Eternal, then Thanos is an Eternal. (this would explain how he was so powerful) 3) If thanos is an Eternal, then Arishem has a back up of him as well, and can bring him back too.

I think the movie is just so ambitious, introducing a team of ten completely new characters. Resulting in a long movie, that still feels like it just scratches the surface on some of the characters. Like Makkari is really cool, but I feel like I know nothing about her. Honestly the best part of the movie for me is the end, with all the little hints of things to come. I do hope to see a sequel announcement soon, because I feel like a sequel with a more focused cast could give the remaining characters a bit more room to develop.

Most of the critics were due to the fact that their actions had literally cosmic consequences, so the story felt too rushed to be shown in just a movie, a miniseries would be better for that. However, I don't think that even Marvel have the budget to properly pay some of the actors for that much screen time (I'm looking at you, Angelina). In a lighter hearted tone, another criticism was that this was the most DC movie from Marvel, and that's unacceptable! 😅

I felt this this movie would've been benefitted much better as an MCU Disney+ show better due to its large cast and it having to have an array spanning a few thousand year speed telling a lot of backstory. As its compactness into one movie didn't help with it's pacing. Although it's not horrifically bad as many people make out

Addie, in the comic books, they aren't robots they are flesh and blood mutants? and the Deviants aren't dinosaur dogs , they are walking talking humanoids but in different colors like red and green and yellow and purple, like Thanos is a different colored humanoid. but the Deviants in the comics are all ugly? for a lack of a better word. like Kingo's cameraman, he looked like one of the Deviants, a fat indian guy a morbose looking asian guy a creepy looking russian guy, they all were caricatures of humans. but they were flesh and blood maybe created by the Kree? or the Celestials?

This is on the lower end of the MCU. Not a single one of the characters is memorable and if you didn't remember the very brief scene in GOTG Vol 1 about the Celestials or the very brief vague mention of the snap, you'd have no idea this was connected to the MCU at all. Not to mention not a single show or film since this movie's timeline has made a mention of the husk of a Celestial suddenly sticking out of the ocean.
