It feels like we didn’t watch the same movie…this is honestly one of my favorites MCU movies. Top 5 easily. I’ve seen it twice already and I’m going to see it again. The pace is fine with me, I didn’t get bored once. I feel like now people need action all the time and need things to go quickly… but you have with a story and a group like Eternals you obviously need more time to establish each character, to establish their relationships,… it’s not a waste of time. It’s fundamental. The characters are so well-written. I was so intrigued by each one of them. And they all have their moment to shine ! The movie is also more serious, it’s a love letter to humanity, to our planet earth… it was just so well done!

I heard about all the bad reviews and was expecting to hate it, but just like you said this movie is EASILY a top 5 Marvel movie. I really don't understand how people felt bored during the movie. Not to throw shade on other Marvel movies, but I think we can all think of at least 6 to maybe even 10 movies that aren't as good as Eternals. To each thier own I guess. Hopefully this doesn't affect a possible sequel or future appearances from these characters.

The movie is long because it needed to establish the personalities relationships and stories of each character. For me is in the top 3 in the MCU. The internal moral conflict it had and the plot twists were unbelievable. I was at the edge of my seat the entire time, wondering what might come next. Either way, watch the movie yourself and give it your evaluation.

I'm also of the camp that freaking loved this movie. It certainly wasn't the by-the-numbers MCU film that we're used to, but I really liked it, and if this was an MCU by-the-numbers movie, it definitely would've made it worse. It's a cerebral movie, and the context is supposed to serve that purpose. It's not an action movie, and while the action scenes are amazing, this is very much a drama-focused film with historical context. The MCU-ness that's familiar is the amazing CGI and really comedic timing of jokes. But, whole-heartedly disagree with your assessment on this movie. I really cared about the characters and enjoyed the dynamics the Eternals had with each other. Yes, I agree the opening crawl had me worried, but, for me, it was alleviated as the story progressed. And when that Act 3 surprise happened, I was honestly floored. And not who I expected either. Ultimately, I think this type of movie really isn't your jam, especially when GotG is the template that you're comparing it to despite that the tone and style is NOT GotG. It is a completely different movie, and I'm sorry that you didn't enjoy it. I did. My packed theater [where no one left] enjoyed it as well.

I saw it tonight. I don't think the movie deserves all the terrible scores from critics and some reviewers. Probably the worst thing about the movie is the constant flashback, present day, flashback, present day, flashback, present day at the beginning. In that regard, it was almost like watching Arrow. I didn't ever find myself to be bored during the movie though.

One of the more relatable lovable KZbin channels making a review video hating this movie while the comments section is full of people who disagree and love the film tells you everything you need to know about how polarizing this movie seems to be. SPOILERS I personally thought it was great. It touched on so many themes: family; destiny, duty, authority, self-determination, hope... every character represented a slightly nuanced view of humanity and I was invested into each one. So many good intense and emotional scenes while also being super funny (Kingo's valet was hilarious!) Their use of past and present scenes was good and gave just the right amount of context and story direction. Great score, great cinematography, Aside from the setups from the post credit scenes, I haven't seen anyone talking about how the Eternals rebelling against Arishem could influence Earth and reality for the MCU moving forward. I feel like this could end up being as impactful as Wanda's, Sylvie's or Dr. Strange's decisions in NWH. Maybe all of them together collectively set up what's in store for the future of the MCU

I’m a big fan of unconventional stories so the movie worked for me in all levels. It easily became my favorite MCU movie. Watched it twice yesterday. Planning on going a couple more times during the weekend, but I understand how it was a big miss for some people, specially considering the messiness of jumping back and forth in time and not going for a more linear type of storytelling.

I thought the visuals were really good, loved the unique aesthetic and I feel like this movie was meant to be from the POV of actual gods, I liked the relationship between Ikarus and sersi and felt that you got a basic idea for what everyone was like, Gilgamesh is a gentle giant, Sprite is jealous of everyone else and is having an existential crisis, Kingo is an egotistic film maker and Phastos was learning to love humans again after the atrocities he feels responsible for. They felt pretty fleshed out considering the time they had, the only one with not much development was Makkari was the only one I felt had the least amount of development because she was sat on the ship for 60% of the film. But I personally dug the film and was really excited to see the brother of thanos appear in the post credits, plus I'm pretty sure the voice talking to Dane at the end was Blade so I love that connective tissue.

This is where people's different taste comes in really. The going back and forth in this movie didn't really have the context behind them hence alot of people thought it was really messy. Shang chi had elements of this as well but it had context as to why they go back I time to explain it. This movie really doesn't for a lot of people. And especially having 7000 years to explore, 10 different characters to tell, you need a lot of time. This would've been a much better disney+ series for the first run. Then sequels could've easily been a cinematic experience. Cause we know the characters now. And they had 12 eternals in the original draft so a series would've been better. I'm saying this not because I didn't enjoy it, cause I still did, it just left me with me wanting more in a way, the movie should've been way better. I'm glad marvel took the risk though. I absolutely respect that.

i was afraid of this, zhao even said on an interview this movie is the biggest risk marvel ever took, and it's already dividing mcu fans. i felt emotionally detached while watching the movie and i don't see how it fits to the mcu for now. it has a lot of dc references which made me feel it's like it's own franchise.

The problem is that this show/movie exists, in 2 different other properties, and each of them were better than this movie. It's Umbrella Academy meets The Old Guard. In The Old Guard, I BELIEVED those people were hundreds or thousands of years old, maybe because they were allowed to be humans the whole time. Umbrella Academy, we saw the dysfunctional superhero family dynamic played to perfection, again probably because they were allowed to just be Humans. Honestly, they should probably have just abandoned the whole "you're robots" thing for most of the movie, because its hamstringing the performances. My wife had a fantastic point: this movie was a constant string of "Oh, we're aware of this fascinating concept here, but guess what? You're not gonna see it!"

I've read Marvel comics for decade, I see this whole series as a mosaic and the Eternals makes me excited for the future of the MCU. You have to understand the celestials to understand the cosmic side of Marvel and it is clear that is where the story is headed. I think it could've been better as a Disney+ series because the story needed more time. If you are an honest to god Marvel comic fan I'm not saying you should automatically love this movie, but you should know what it means for the future and you should be excited about that.

Kingo leaving: I kind of felt like this needed to happen - too many people at then end would have felt cluttered and I don't know where he would have fit in without just being someone else for Ikaris to KO. Also, it added depth to these 10 characters having different motivations. We're used to "good guys fight bad guys to save humans" but here we see them question the morality of saving them. Ikaris follows the "good soldiers follow order premise" and basically gets Order 66'd into allowing the emergence to go ahead, taking out anyone that side against him. Sprite goes for this because she loves Ikaris but also hasn't been allowed to mature so can't properly experience love, this is the closest thing she'll get. Kingo, like Ikaris, thinks this should go ahead, but is not willing to fight the people he loves for it to happen. Similarly, Phastos doesn't believe humans are worth fighting for after seeing how his technical advancements lead to Hiroshima, but he's not willing to lose his loved ones so does intervene. Druig and Sersi both want as little harm to come to humans as possible, so are wholly against the emergence - allowing these characters to not all be 2D really helped me understand each of them as individuals and not all the same. Not caring about the characters: I honestly don't really get this one. From the get go I really liked these characters. Sersi clearly loves humanity, Sprite is very likeable and relatable as the sarcastic sort of comic relief in the first act, Ikaris clearly still loves Sersi. I think Ajak died at the right time, despite it being early - because it sets up why they have to find the others and gives a sense of urgency. These people have lived here for 7000 years, and then their mortal enemies appear to return, stronger than before, and they're leader is dead all of a sudden. It gives the characters they drive they needed. And I think it's better than we still see Ajak throughout the movie with the flashbacks. The periodic flashbacks save a massive exposition dump at the start of the movie, and instead of explaining EVERYTHING in real time throughout the movie, we get bits and pieces throughout that develop what we're seeing on screen. Not have Ajak around in present day is good because it helps us question her stance - is she really good or the secret catalyst behind our villains? On the subject of development, I think they did well enough handling the 10 characters. Sure, I'd like to see more development with some of them, but what you guys are saying about guardians still applies - they did develop the ones we were focusing on - Sersi, Sprite, Ikaris, Druig, Gilgamesh, Phastos - and while giving us a little of what we wanted, we still have room to see the growth of Makkari, Thena and Kingo going forward. They needed to do 10 characters to give it scale, and honestly I'm impressed with how well they made me care about so many of them. Again, do not understand the robotic argument - I felt so much emotion from Druig throughout his scenes, Barry was phenomenal. Phastos during Hiroshima was excellent as well, as was Sprite throughout her scenes. Saying it's as if they actors are playing people who don't care doesn't seem fair at all. The scene where they're discussing wiping Thena's memories due to the Mahd Wy'ry was very emotionally charged as well. Gilgamesh: Yes I think he could have been developed MORE before his death, but again, lot of stuff they had to cover with the time budget. DC thing is kind of a nit pick, but it's a bit meta having to make up superheroes for comics in a superhero universe. They normally cover this by creating comics and stuff based on in world heroes, and kids still have avengers toys, they're just real too - but I honestly like the kind of over the top joke about other comic book universes existing in the Marvel world. That being said it did feel like they were going too far a couple of times - several Superman references, the Alfred joke from Gilgamesh too. Little much but again, kind of nitpicking. The Evolving Deviant: This wasn't even evolution or a specific deviant - we're not told that it is. As far as we're concerned, every single deviant has the ability to absorb power, it's just that a deviant has never been able to kill an eternal. This one wasn't special, it just got to a defenceless Ajak that didn't have a fighter on her side. Yes, this evolved Deviant, let's stick with Kro, was pushed to the side, but again adds more dimensions to the moral dilemma. This deviant acts as the opposite of Ikaris, as he is willing to do anything to stop Tiamut from hatching, even as far as absorbing the power from all the eternals and sort of becoming his own unimind. It gives us more perspectives for us to look on humanity from. I don't need to be told who the villain of a story is, instead they lay out all the facts in front of us, showing us the good, the bad, and the ugly of humanity and letting us think in this situation, "would we save the world?" instead of being told that humanity is inherently good. This movie does way more showing rather than telling than you give it credit for. Onto the Starfox thing - they can introduce characters and make it feel like a big deal even if people don't know who they are? They can't expect everyone to know everything. You can't go into a marvel movie knowing every comic book thing, but for an Eternals comic book fan, seeing this would have been really cool. I'm sure the Kang reveal wouldn't have been cool if we didn't know who Kang was, and didn't hear the casting list for Quantumania. Marvel can't pander to everyone, they're going to introduce obscure characters at some point. Arishem appearing probably feels commonplace to these people. Gods are no longer just faith based, aliens are real, apparently 6 rocks killed half of all life in the universe and now everyone's back. Oh look a big head in the sky, that seems about right. People become desensitised to this stuff lmfao. This movie is set before any of the shows are taking places, having any Disney+ series character show up would make no sense at all. Music line annoyed me because the soundtrack in this movie was great. To be quite honest I'm almost kind of upset with you guys about this video? I don't know, I'm just so used to seeing you guys love Marvel switching things up, and more than half of this video felt like you were being paid to target this movie with as much hate as possible. I really don't know where it came from cause it kinda didn't feel like you guys in a way? Either way, still love you two, and we're obviously never gonna agree on everything. Just surprised at how divisive this movie is, it's genuinely top tier marvel for me.

Agree with you in regards to the Starfox thing. I'm not a comic reader, so this isn't the first time a character has popped up in the end credits of a Marvel film (eg. Guardians 2) where I was like "no idea who this is". But for me it doesn't matter because I figure I'll get to know them later (like every other character) - I know that these reveals are for the die hard comic fans, not the movie only people like me

The reason Avengers worked was what I've come to call the Rule of Seven. If you want a Super Hero movie to really strike Gold, ya gotta stick to no more than 7 core characters. Once established you can expand to Infinity/Endgame territory tho there has to be an upper limit out there somewhere. This flick was spread just too thin.

I also felt the same way about why wouldn't they get involved with Thanos trying to destroy half of the universe when you established that a new celestial needs that intelligent lifeforce to be born. Everyone should have the opportunity to go see the movie in cinemas, if interested, make an opinion by themselves and then come back and discuss it with you and the community. Movies hit each one of us in different ways. What might be boring for you, is probably enjoyable for others. Your experience with this movie probably is not the same for others and in by saying to not go and see the movie, you actually deprive those persons of that experience. About 3 years ago it was standard to have 4 trailers but then it was changed to a mandatory 5 for new release/tentpole titles. Studios will send out clipboard reps to document which trailers and how many are being played before the movie to report back to the studio. If we consistently go against the studio "requirements" they could, potentially, deny/hold hostage the next big tent pole title until we're in compliance. Complain to the studios and not the theater but it's a losing battle/suggestion either way.

They didn’t make me care about any of these unknown characters enough to want to see them again like they were successful in doing with Guardians of the Galaxy. In my opinion it was bad writing. Felt like a DC movie.

Wow...wow...”to each, his own....” I feel like my friends & I watched a completely different movie than you guys did. We all thoroughly enjoyed it. It felt like a dramatic marvel film. It’s no Infinity War, but it ain’t Dark World either. Curious to see how it all connects. I honestly don’t get the disdain this film is getting. Again, everybody’s got a right to their opinion.

Didn't catch it till Disney+ release, and enjoyed it more than I thought - I think lowered expectations really helped - but it just didn't feel that connected to the wider universe, and I just did not care enough about the characters - honestly think it would have been better off as a series, where they could take time with each member & let me care about someone before they do something that is supposed to make me feel feelings.

I don't have any opinion on the finished movie, but this film just has way too many main characters for me to care. You can't drop an Avengers-tier cast and expect me to get invested. The whole thing smacks of that other group of not-Mutants that Marvel tried and failed with at an earlier point in the MCU.

I respect differing opinions, but to tell others to avoid watching something they haven't seen just because you don't like it is really immature. And to act as if a character reveal was unnecessary because they're unknown is just... Do we forget that a majority of Infinity War viewers barely knew anything about Thanos? You guys seriously need be less dramatic.

This movie just changed the entire MCU direction guys, even Feige told it, it introduces a new team, Thanos’ family, new species, new artistic direction, it even introduces Blade and the Black Knight. The MCU can’t work with only one movie, maybe you don’t like Eternals for now bc it is installing the background of the next phases of the MCU. Come back in one or 2 years and we’ll see, like almost all marvel movies, Eternals is going to be a mandatory movie to understand future movies and series in few months/years

i wanted to like the movie but the emotional moments fell so flat for me. the trailer makes it seem like kit harrington has a significant role in the movie, spoiler; he is barely in it. it sets up a lot of interesting stuff for the mcu but it doesn't do more than that. I'd rather watch shang-chi a forth time than eternals a second time. ps. i didn't hate the movie, i just expected A LOT more.

I think it's a decent movie, something that I'd expect to get a critics score in the 70s normally, 48% score is just plain BS coz this is still better than most DC properties, and even Black Widow imo. There are some pretty decent instances of MCU humor that work well, but I did feel that the movie was telling the audience to feel emotions rather than making them through the plot and direction. I think it has more to do with the large cast not handled as deftly as we have become used to from previous ensemble MCU movies and the disney plus shows (which admittedly have a much greater runtime). The only characters I am excited to see fleshed out are Thena, Druig, and Makkari. Overall underwhelming for sure, but definitely not DC level bad imo

I heard all the bad reviews so I didn't watch this in theaters and waited till it came out in Disney Plus today. I don't get it. This was a good movie in my opinion. I was interested in the characters, understood the plot and appreciated the complex situation they were in. I don't know. Maybe I'm in the minority but this was a good movie to me. I can't wait to see a sequel which might not happen because of all the people that panned it.

OK, finally saw this tonight. I have to say that, after hearing all the negative reviews, I didn't expect to like it but I really did! Like a lot of others here, I am surprised that you fellas were so let down by it. Is it like every other MCU film? Nope! Is it supposed to be? Nope! After 10 years of in-your-face cinema, this was a great palate cleanser for the new era to come...in my opinion. It was the character and world building that we need to move forward with the MCU universe and what is to come. Again, just my thoughts. Sorry it failed so hard for you, guys.

I say this with all due respect, if you like the movie, great. I agree with every point said in this video, it was very boring and missed out on a lot of opportunities. This movie creates a lot of plot holes and honestly don't care about anyone in this movie. I honestly cannot see how this movie is better than Iron Man, Winter Soldier, Infinity War, or Shang Chi for that matter. I respect the opinions of others, but honestly shocked people are calling this movie their favorite.
